    The way this trainer swipes the bubbles for ground type moves screams "chaotic energy"

    Just a side note, a resisted Dynamic Punch from Poli does more damage than a neutral Icy Wind on both Peli and Mantine

    Thanks for the feature! I had thought I had included a Lanturn lead battle in here; whoops!
    You are correct that Water Pulse is probably better than Ice Beam. I wasn’t decided when I built the team, and didn’t want to bother spending the charge TMs on it 😂 Ice Beam does hit Ferrothorn and Mantine slightly harder and they sometimes don’t expect it.
    I think this team worked because people don’t expect the back line (I literally never faced a mirror team). This team can’t do much of anything against Lanturn lead with Ferrothorn in the back; even if you beat the Lanturn, you’re probably down shields and the Ferrothorn will just sweep you. That said, I won an alarming amount of games where I lost lead because my opponent didn’t really have a plan for my counterswap. Jellicent lead? Go to Quagsire, and they happen to be on double Electric+Steel in the back. They probably could have won if they’d predicted Mantine as the third, but since they didn’t, I managed to win. I had a fair amount of bad leads (a lot more than you saw in these sets) and I lost a decent amount of them, but I was able to play through enough of them to keep climbing, and I think that’s the best you can hope for in such a limited meta.
    I managed to climb a bit more to 3227 (which is insane, because I’m not nearly as good at open leagues, typically 600-700 rating below the top of the leaderboard). I’ll probably stop playing for a bit, since finding battles takes a long time and I think this team will struggle more now that it’s public. But it’s made a really limited meta more enjoyable than I expected because it somehow just…worked.

      How did you run the quag? I see people running MB/SE, and I think did they take AT out, or did they just build a new quag?

    • @vaporeonice3146

      @@QileiYin I built a new one. I already had one built with Aqua Tail and I had randomly caught a rank 1 that I hadn’t evolved or powered up, so I just did that. It’s nice to have both the Aqua Tail and non-Aqua Tail variants for different metas.

      this team doesnt work against my algorithm whatsoever. Plus any potential win, the opponent crashes the game.

      Congratulations on the huge climb!
      I think having a slightly unpredictable/unbalanced line can be a huge advantage in a limited meta, looks like you nailed it here.

      Ive been running basically this same exact team except with escav instead of poli, and yeah lanturn leads are an issue for me too cause even if i get 2 shields down there’s either ferro in the back or they pivot out of lanturn

    Throwing icy wind then swapping out, knowing they're going to swap too is often times a waste of the debuff.

  • @msgdeletdbymod4471

    I dont have a mantine so tried Poli , Quag (acid spray, mud shot), and Jelli back. EVERYONE has a Ferro so if you don't see it on the lead, Swap to Quag and Acid the Ferro. Easy farm down for Poli. Giving Poli farm + the PUP/Icy moveset gives it potential to 1v3 most backlines. Barely even need Jelli and could probably run Mantine as well. My playstyle is a bit different but this is a solid team you found here. Also if they don't really have a response swap in / staying in neutral/bad matchups against Poli, just double shield and PUP through the whole team.

      This cup is making me question the matchmaking algorithm fooor sure. 4-1 followed by a 1-4 with the goofiest hard counters showing up out of nowhere all of a sudden. It’s been like this the entire week and a half for me. I know it’s just the nature of a limited meta but it has me questioning things..

    9:50 I think If he thrown the once fast move and change to poliwrath, he would have a charge move. Because the damage would transfer to poliwrath. And he definitely can win.

    • @vaporeonice3146

      Yeah, I definitely could have won that battle if I played it properly. I thought Quagsire would get to a Mud Bomb before getting farmed down, then noticed too late that it wouldn’t. I also assumed it wouldn’t have Psyshock (for some reason) and that Poliwrath would live to take the move. A little embarrassing to watch back, but every player makes mistakes in the moment.

      It happens. Sometimes you get hard countered, sometimes you’re the one hard countering your opponent. The goal’s to just win as many of those potentially winnable battles as possible.

    With leads like that I could hot Legand. How does this happen I went 9 matches in a row today with a bad lead. Actually 2 were mirror so neutral. I then switched leads and guess what a different bad lead. Dan can we get some videos showing work around on bad leads. I think that is how real Elo is gained in this game

    • @vaporeonice3146
      @vaporeonice3146 2 місяці тому +1

      Dan asks for two complete sets with a majority wins. Getting mostly bad leads and winning against Legend ranked players isn’t going to happen. In this video, I have three bad leads and win two of them. It had more good leads than is typical, but that’s just how the sets played out for the day.
      Playing out of bad leads is important, but expecting to consistently win bad leads (or, more importantly, bad team comps) isn’t realistic. With this team, I had runs of some or mostly bad leads (Mantine, Pelipper, Jellicent, or Lanturn with Ferrothorn in the back…I see Lanturn as a neutral lead if Ferrothorn isn’t in the back). I lost most of those games. Some of those sets, I went 1-4. Some of them, I went 2-3. Occasionally, I would go 3-2 with 4-5 bad leads. Knowing how to consistently win against good players when I had good match-ups was just as, if not more important, and is more difficult than you think it is (see how I lost a game against the Bronzong despite a good lead due to small misplays).
      In a limited meta, you need to know how to play your team, what it aims to do, and how and when it can play out of a bad match-up (and sometimes it can’t). Being honest, the fact that I wasn’t running a standard team felt like it was a huge advantage; pretty much no one expected the Quagsire in the back.
      Finding the right team is difficult. I’ve had many metas where nothing seems to stick. But whenever I have succeeded, it’s generally been because I built a strong team that handles the standard lines of play that most (not all) meta teams use.

      @vaporeonice3146 sorry if it came off condescending, I was just a little bitter with the leads I saw yesterday. Funny enough with bads leads I went 18-7 yesterday and today with better leads 10-15. It's a funny game and you are much better then I am

    • @vaporeonice3146
      @vaporeonice3146 2 місяці тому

      @@justinriegel8142 no worries, I get it! The game is funny like that sometimes; a lot of teams I’ve built in the past weren’t very good because, even though they won lead a lot, that often didn’t translate to winning the game against good players. Good luck climbing this season!

    Today someone threw Stone Edge on my Ferrothorn despite having mud bomb on their Quagsire. I also won against another player who had Aqua Tail on Quagsire. Please don't throw away potentiel wins like that! Mud bomb Quag can put in a lot of work against Ferrothorn. Plus obviously other steels as well.
