Oh I vote for Tile as this will be your water room, much easier to clean, will tolerate the moisture and there are so many beautiful tiles and what you can do to bring artistry in your water house. Love Lola’s Farmily!!!!!

I vote for cement board and tile because, in the jungle, the wood is vulnerable to insects, mold, rot, etc.

I lived and built in Costa Rica, your northern neighbor, for many years. Termites and rot were always an issue with anything made of wood! Due to those issues, to insure having expensive construction last, I switched to using only steel and cement as my main materials. SO... I would advise cement board with gorgeous tile in your bathroom rather than shiplap!

Totally agree about the cement board & shiplap due to the high humidity and termites. It would stink to spend so much time doing shiplap then have it rot in a year or two.

Definitely agree, it would look beautiful stick with making it work for years to come, I think she will make it look beautiful no matter what but this will definitely keep from having to constantly repair and save the money for other projects

Even though the ship lap would be beautiful, I really do think you should go with the concrete bored. I don't want to see all that hard, beautiful work. Go to the termites and to the moisture. I know you can put moisture barriers in, and I know you can always treat for termites. But you just don't want to take that chance of losing all that beauty that you put into it. You can make it just as beautiful. With tile and concrete board, I ❤️ you guys so much. This is the 1st time I've everecommend it, and I've been following you for yes. I love you and Sadie. She's just the basked a little poopoo girl in the world. Yeah, you're poo poo. You guys have a wonderful wonderful weekend

Concreted walls & floored bathroom for sure, but only have a completely covered cedar wood sauna room throughout. The whole entire inside ceiling, of course, cedar wood.
😀 Hey my tv friends, where is your homemade wood burning outside jacuzzi area?
💡Second question, when does the other loyal employees get to build their tiny homes on your gorgeous land?

I would worry about rotting, molding, and warping using wood in a bathroom. Especially where you are. I would use concrete board and tile over it. Since you like shiplap maybe subway tile would fit your style.
Also, with rainy season fast approaching now would be a perfect time to dig your pool out more down by the ram pump in order to store more water when it starts drying up again. Then you wouldn't have to completely rely on a slow trickle to keep your tanks topped off.

No shiplap! You will never regret using tile, because there are so many choices and it gives you a waterproof and low maintenance bathroom! I recently retiled a step in shower that was tiled originally in square, white, porcelain tile. The new tile is cream with veins of browns and grays in it. It is a tile 2’ long by 1 ‘ long. It looks like a polished stone from a mountain and the floor and ceiling are both beautiful matching pebbles. That shower brings me joy. The tiles match the floor and tub surround done in antique walnut flooring my deceased husband installed in 2004 when we were renovating our farm house, which is over a 100 years old. I wanted rustic as opposed to modern to keep the farmhouse esthetic.
That’s the beauty of tile, there are so many options and variations! Not to mention it is easy to clean and maintain.

Kaylee you are such an incredible mum! I enjoy this show even more, watching you with sadee....she is so focused and keen and learns so quickly because of your passion and patience by the way you parent! I am 61 we raised 3 kids using the same passion and gentleness that you and Jordan use...my kids have always been each others best freinds. I was so worried having a 2nd child because I couldn't imagine loving the 2nd one as much as the 1rst m...but I found I had even a larger bowl filled with love the 2nd time around, and the 3rd time around! We loved watching the 3 of them being the best of freinds. They are 32, 30 and 29 now and still take trips together, stay in close contact. I don't think they ever really had big disagreements ever, .anyway..you are doing a bang up job! She is such a sweetie pie!

Another suggestion in preparing for the coming rainy season. I don't know the exact topography of the stream bed where the little pool and ramp pump are located, but, if there is a bit of a cut out from the pass actions of the stream, consider building another dam closer to the ramp pump and thereby capturing mor water in the reservoir to give you more water to pull from after the rain. make sure you put an overflow near the top of the dam with an output multiple feet down stream from the dam.

Like Wayne Sellers…..I live in Costa Rica as well and we are building and renovating here. The termites and mold are brutal. Unless you go with local hardwood and treat it constantly the termites WILL eventually destroy everything. So concrete board would ultimately be best IMHO. You can still make it look stunning for sure. You guys are doing an awesome job with your property build, business, and most importantly, your daughter! You’re smashing it 👍🏻🙏🏻💖

My vote on interior of bathhouse…. Given the difficulty of making the ship lap and humidity issues likely to be happening…. My vote is ONE accent wall or part of one in shiplap. The rest in tile or whatever you can get that gets the job finished to get your toilet situation resolved. Especially as it sound like Sadie is ready to start potty training.

Wood walls. My Dad made removable wood floors for the floor in our Sauna. There was just enough room between boards for the water to go through. When Sauna time was over, we could lift up the floor to lean sgainst the wall, and turn on an exhaust fan so the Sauna floor and walls and wood ceiling could get dry. We also could rinse the concrete floor of the Sauna. You can make the walls either horizontally or vertically. You have a beautiful home and bath house.

Forget about Pinterest. You are in the tropics without air conditioning. Cement board with tile would be great. However, grout will be a magnet for mildew unless there is a product that will prevent it. I would suggest you get some advice from the local expats or builders in the area. I lived in Panama I experience rainy season for four years. Love what you are doing there. Your daughter is such a fantastic little girl. Best wishes.

The bathroom is getting there. the window inserts look great and so does the ceiling. Sadie is getting so independent. but she is learning from the best parents. I think that the shiplap would last longer than wood. I don't know if you get loads of termites but if you do then the wood wouldn't last as long

Hey you folks out there. I pick the shiplap, hope I'm spelling it right. Oh Kaylee with a bubbly comic personality, who is so very pretty. I'm not much of a coffee guy but you all get me excited about your coffee. Gosh your toilet bath and shower place looks so neat. A lot of special good work put into it. What a cute little button Sadie is and now she can go by herself. Your animals are so adorable. Jordan you are the most to say the least! Okay I'm out of here. Bueno Diaz.

Investing in some native trees of the type that are impervious to insects and rot, and milling them yourselves might be an even better option for your next house than the steel, which is eventually going to rust in places.
It's also more beautiful than just about anything else.
Maybe you could locate people with trees that were downed in storms, of a desired species, who would love to be paid to have them removed?
I've worked with Lignum Vitae for over 20 years and I still have some big Cumaru planks that have been sitting outside for 20 years.
These woods are 3 times as dense as White Oak. Anything built with them is as solid as a rock.
I replaced all my tool handles and made a 9 foot sailboat mast that's only 1 inch thick.
If you lay wood on the ground around here, some kind of termite-like larvae chews it to pieces in weeks.
    They can't touch the Cumaru.

La Comarca is the best coffee I’ve ever had and I have been drinking good coffee for 50 years. My second bag just arrived late this morning. My mailbox smelled heavenly. I’d already had my one big mug of coffee for the day but I couldn’t resist making a mug of my new La Comarca. I’ve been watching you two (and now three) since you were traveling in tandem with Trent and Allie. I’ve been watching you not only grow up, but thrive in your endeavors. Congratulations and I am sending positive energy to Arturo for this year’s competition.

I liked the style and content of this video. I don't really like shorts but long involved workshop videos are not really my thing. I like getting snapshots of work y'all are doing interspersed with cool Sadie learning moments, coffee stuff, etc. It's interesting, informative, fun and entertaining. Well done.

Do tile for multiple reasons: 1) humidity won’t affect it 2) easily wipes cleans 3) widely available in a multitude of colors, shapes, sizes & textures (which makes it more artistically creative than boards). 4. You already have wood boards on the ceiling so tile gives more contrast & interest than putting more wood on side walls. 5. Will outlast any wood 6. Sounds like tile will allow you to complete the project sooner

Kaylee, cement board on the bottom of the wall and ship lap or ship lap look-a-like on the top of the wall. I think white subway tile in the shower or black stone tile would be really cool too!

Given the bug issues, You could use tiles and end up making a hot sauna room given the humidity that is naturally occurring, people pay good money for sitting in a hot sauna room, so you might want to consider that, and collect as much rainwater as you can off the rooves from the plastic roof with a gutter system. Your excitement is contagious!
