    The Dan Wesson PMC is worth every penny! Ive had mine for awhile now and its became the best pistol in my arsenal. I like how its a 70 series too. If you want a very good quality 1911 but cant afford the DW 1911 I recommend the Magnum Research Desert Eagle 1911 Commander. The VERY nice for what little you pay for them.

      nonya biz, DW makes some great production 1911s. I don’t own a Magnum Research, but I’ve read good reviews on them. Thanks for commenting.

    Both are wonderful 1911s . Mr. Baer is a true Old School Gent . A little fine lapping of the DW slide was all it needed I'm sure .

      The barrel link was out of spec and they had to re-fit the locking lugs. All-in-all, disappointing quality control. But it runs great now.

      I really liked my Les Baer Stinger and I was more than pleased with their customer service. However, I ended up selling the Stinger to a friend, but I'm keeping the PM-C. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    That Dan Wesson is one beautiful pistol, Great review and comparison. All your videos make me want a 1911. I don’t own one and never shot one, I’ve only used striker fired and da/sa guns such as my CZ P01.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  5 років тому +3

      James, I’m not a huge fan of bare stainless, but I agree that the PM-C looks very nice. The 1911 isn’t for everyone, but once you have experienced a really good 1911, it may be hard to NOT like it. Having written that, however, I’ve experienced some really nice CZ pistols, a couple of which rival the feel of a good 1911 trigger.
      Thanks for your comments.

      I'm down to one 1911, a CZ 97B, and some strikers... but what I want is a CZ P-01 from Cajun Gun Works. I will say that the 1911 stands alone in the world of pistols. When you hold it, it holds you right back and becomes your emotional support pistol. It would be folly to argue that a 1911 is the best defensive pistol, because it isn't, but I have an inexplicable bond with it.

      nonya biz, I believe Dan Wesson makes the highest quality “production” 1911s and they definitely hold their own against the semi-custom guns. Thanks for commenting. I hope you have a great New Year.

    What’s your opinion/choice on a CCW 1911 9mm commander length light weight model? Dan Wesson, Kimber, etc...?

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  4 роки тому +2

      guidojt, it depends if you are looking at actual Commander class - full-size frame with 4"-4.25" barrel/slide, or CCO class - Officer-size frame with Commander barrel/slide.
      For actual Commander-class lightweight 9mm, my hands-down preference is the Dan Wesson Guardian (Part 12 of the series). A similar gun, but with a slightly smaller grip (and proprietary magazines) would be The Springfield EMP CCC (Concealed Carry Contour - also in Part 12).
      For a CCO-class lightweight 9mm, I would pick another Dan Wesson - the Vigil CCO - Officer size lightweight frame with a Commander slide. I haven't reviewed that particular gun, but it is very similar to the DW CCO .45 I reviewed in Part 16 of the series.
      Kimber makes a couple of lightweight 9mm guns with 4" barrel/slide - Pro and Pro CDP, but they don't make the CCO-size in 9mm (Kimber calls that the "Compact" model). However, none of the Kimber Pro guns with lightweight frames are bobtail, which makes concealment more difficult.
      My all-time favorite carry guns are both lightweight 9mm guns with an Officer-size frame and 3.5" to 4" barrel/slide. I am currently carrying the Dan Wesson ECO (Part 21), though I occasionally carry the STI Staccato C (Part 20). I have found those guns to be the best 1911 options for concealed carry - at least for me, though they may not be right for everyone.
      In case you haven't guessed by now, in my not-so-humble-opinion, Dan Wesson makes the absolute top-of-the-class 1911 pistols. I'll put a Dan Wesson up against the semi-customs like Wilson or Ed Brown any day. The semi-customs may have slightly better hand finishing, but for that, you will pay two to three times what you will pay for a DW that is just as reliable and accurate. And no, I'm not sponsored by Dan Wesson, nor do I get any test guns from them. Every gun I have reviewed I have purchased outright, often pre-owned.
      I hope that helps. And thanks for watching.

    I happen to stumble on to your channel last weekend and love your reviews. I love 1911's, so cool what John M. Browning made for us. Maybe a Colt commander vs. Sig Sauer 220, as these two are my favorite 2 pistols. My Colt Commander is the 04691 model as i like the more classic look. Between the Les Baer and the Dan Wesson i would pick the Les Baer only because i think he makes the best 1911 on the market, more so the 5" models, but the DW are also great guns. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us!!! I will wait for the notification bell to part 15B Thx again.

      I have not. I like the trigger and the sights on that pistol and it would probably make a good duty gun, but Commander-size guns that aren't bobtail don't work well for me for concealment.

    What an excellent term for the Les Baer-a hotrod! Les has a musclecar collection. And included is a '70 Chevelle SS454 LS-6, a '70 Hemi 'Cuda and a '69 Mustang Boss 9, which is the best? Let's do a head-to-head test.

  • @JohnJones-ty6fj
    @JohnJones-ty6fj 5 років тому +2

    Have you looked at the new Dan Wesson DWX? Wow. Just wow. They may have redefined the 9mm competition pistol if they had just included a RMR cut. Dan Wesson is one of the most underrated manufactures out there.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  5 років тому +1

      John, I agree with your "Wow". That looks like a VERY interesting pistol. Putting 1911 fire control on a CZ75 - which has a very nice trigger as it is - is a unique combination. The price is a little steep, but still less than a CZ Shadow 2. Thanks for pointing it out - or actually, NO thanks, as my gun money is just about gone.
      I fully agree that DW is underrated. I'll put any of my Dan Wessons up against any other production 1911 brand, and they can pretty much hold their own against most semi-customs until you get down to the finest finishing details.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  5 років тому +1

      For the prices, I was just looking at the MSRP on the CZ/DW website. The street price of the DWX will probably stay close to MSRP for a while.
      No fair asking which DW is my favorite. Kinda like asking which kid is my favorite. I really like them all, but they each have their own purpose. However, my carry gun for more than a year was the ECO and I still carry it when I don’t want the weight of my EDC X9.

    • @RidersRange

      How one tries to put a sight with a .485 base in a .495 dovetail is beyond me. However, the sight was tight and held through 500 or so rounds prior to filming. The good news is the slide came back today. The bad news is the weather and my schedule for the next week are both lousy, so I'm not likely to get out to sight it in for another week.

    The Dan Wesson is the Better of the 2, I own that PMC it's smoother & more accurate! Just don't care for the sights, they are easily changed. LB is overrated & over priced!

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  5 років тому +1

      Karl, Baers are a little pricey, but occasionally good deals come up on used Baers. However, that PM-C can certainly hold its own against the Stinger.

    • @traeucity6087
      @traeucity6087 5 років тому +3

      I disagree. I don't own a PM-C, but I do own a V-Bob, which I think is a superior pistol to the PM-C; and the Les Baer is a better shooter. The Dan Wesson V-Bob is not far behind; but behind it is. I don't know what you mean by "smoother"; but the accuracy of my .45 Stinger, earned it the nickname, "Mr. Magic". The V-Bob is better finished and more refined, though; which is why I can't definitively proclaim that one is totally better than the other.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  5 років тому +3

      Trae UCity, I put the PM-C up against the Stinger because both guns are steel Officer-size frames with Commander-length slides. The V-Bob is a great gun, but being a full-size frame puts it in the Commander class, not CCO class, and the pattern of our series is to compare guns in the same size class. If I had a V-Bob, it would have gone up against my Kimber KHX - both being steel frame Commander-class guns.
