  • Video shot on the Bluebell Railway during the Autumn of 2016. Remember those warm and sunny early Autumn days?
    Video sequences:
Class P 'Bluebell' descends Freshfield Bank towards Sheffield Park with an Autumn tints special
Q class 0-6-0 rattles past Horsted Place with the vintage stock.
5MT 73082 climbs the other way with an afternoon train for Kingscote and East Grinstead.
5MT 4-6-0 73082 appears out of Sharpthorne tunnel past the site of West Hoathly station. On a special working.
Followed by S15 4-6-0 No. 847 on an up afternoon working to East Grinstead.
A view of the engine shed and works, featuring E4 0-6-2 Tank engine, H class 0-4-4 Tank and P Class 0-6-0 Tank No. 178, with S15 847 outside with C class 0-6-0 No. 592. The frames and wheels of standard Class 4 4-6-0 No. 75027 are seen in the works.
73082 with recently affixed 'Camelot' nameplates on a light engine movement at Sheffield Park.
Shots of the flora on show at East Grinstead and Kingscote together with some of the fauna to be seen along the lineside as we travel between Kingscote and Horstead Keynes.
73082 is authorised to proceed past the Horsted Keynes outer home signal set at danger during the Leamland Bridge engineering works.
S15 847 gently climbs Freshfield Bank with an up afternoon tea train on a windy day as a hawk flies overhead.
C class 0-6-0 No. 562 ambles past with a Special working
S15 ambles past over road with the Driver observing a temporary speed restriction a few yards further on.
As the leaves turn and start falling, Q class 0-6-0 30541 climbs up through Three Arch bridge with the vintage Southern set and on up towards Horsted Keynes. -
Giants of Steam weekend brought B12 4-6-0 No. 8572 to the Railway, seen with an early morning goods train past the horses and Horsted Place and returning.
Standard 5 MT 73082 blasts past Horsted Place with the first passenger up working of the day, followed noisily by 8572, (both with a slight slip), then S15 847 blasting up the bank towards Sharpthorn tunnel.
8F 2-8-0 No.48624, the other visiting locomotive, leaves Horsted Keynes northwards.
Standard 5MT 73082 climbs cautiously past the site of the first Bluebell Halt and into Horsted Keynes.
S15 847 climbs up under Three Arch Bridge with an afternoon train.
B12 8572 climbs past Waterworks Bridge, followed by 8F 48624 under Three Arch Bridge.
Finally we hear 4F No. 30541 climbing (and slipping slightly) then appearing up past Black Hut towards Sharpthorn Tunnel.
And Finally 'Bluebell' continues its journey Southwards..
    Happy viewing,
    Nick Dearden.

Very pleased you like it, thank you for your comment. The sound is very important I think - now, if we could find a way of capturing the smell too :-)

You are far too kind, thank you for your comment - I do enjoy the whole process, filming and editing. So lucky to have such scenery, wildlife and excellent steam railways.

Great compilation and I particularly liked the distant pan of the B12 around 12 mins. Dare I ask how large this video file is?

Thank you Mike, for your comment. The distant pan was from a location I have used before but when there were fewer leaves on the trees and I was quite pleased with that. People filming from the lineside told me that the engine was largely obscured by steam on the sunny side. The video takes up 23.7 GB approximately

23GB! Ouch, how long did that take to upload?
I'm going to have to try some better lit shots and not ones shooting straight into the winter sun.

yes thanks for sharing, but what are those things like barrels on 847's tender

    • @chatty1chatty1NickD
      @chatty1chatty1NickD  8 років тому

Thank you for your comment Tom. Good question, I believe the cylinders on the tender are reserve tanks for the vacuum braking system.

      I use a Canon XHA1 - about 9 years old I think.
