People forget that Sanchez beat Peyton Manning and Tom Brady on the road back to back in the playoffs. In my opinion Favre clearly threw the last 7 or 8 games with the Jets. He knew if they made the playoffs that year he wouldn't get to Minnesota. The guy couldn't throw the ball 10 yards the second half of that year and the next year suddenly he'd back to having a cannon.
He was throwing the ball like that because his throwing shoulder was messed up, and no one knew about it outside the building until later. What sense would it make for him to throw a perfectly good season? If he really wanted out of New York after that year, he could have simply told them he wasn't coming back to play for them forcing his release. I get your reasoning for thinking this is he wanted to be in Minnesota. He wanted to be in Minnesota to prove the Packers wrong, right? So what's his thinking here? GB wouldn't trade him to Minnesota so he used the Jets as a stepping stone to get there. They started 8-3 that year and then it just so happened that for the remainder of the season was the only time in his career where his arm just stopped working. Then the very next season in minnesota arm is back and basically better than ever. I don't even remember him needing surgery for the shoulder if I'm not mistaken. I'm not saying I can't be wrong here but I definitely have my suspicions.
