- Fluffy got stuck pretty high up in a tree and would not come down. We used a cat backpack to attempt a rescue and it worked pretty well. You might want to try the same thing is you are in a similar situation.

Tree Service !! TREE SERVICE !! I've dealt with this twice, with two different cats. The fire department refuses to come out. But a local tree service (Kramer Tree Service in West Chicago, IL) came out both times and rescued my cats who were too high up for ladder, so the guys climbed the trees, and placed the cats in those over the shoulder sling carriers that paperboys use to carry newspapers. Extremely grateful to Kramer. 😁
Glad to know the rescues were successful! Thanks for your comment!
How much did they charge you?
@@moonpleiades99 They didn't charge to rescue the cats.... but we had used them three times before (at two different homes) to cut down huge dead/diseased trees and they are well worth the price. They are very reputable and professional company that has served DuPage County area for a looong time. And the guys who came to rescue the cats are a pet lovers.
Brilliant. The back idea. Im moving to the country. My beautiful girl of 19 years passed away on Christmas. Not quite yet- but in time i have a dream to get two more. They will have their own backyard. So i will get a backpack ahead of time. Struggling with a cat carrier on your arm with a heavy cat in it who is maybe also moving around too, whilst trying to climb backwards down- this is a recipe fir a fall ! But to put it on your back - i would never have thought of that. Thank you. (And if i get them as babies, i will out them in the backpack for little moments with treats on there then let them out, so they are familiar with the backpack and associate it with nice things. And i will never use the backpack to go to the vets- so thwy never associate it with that stressful situation. I will continue to use the cat carrier for the vet. Thank you so much. (I’ve spent many an hour begging cats to come off trees and roofs, lol. )
Great idea to be prepared ahead of time! Love it!
I had a cat who frequently liked to sneak out and climb a tree in the backyard. It wasn’t a terrifying situation for either of us as it wasn’t too high up and it was easy for me to climb. I was quite a tree climber in childhood so I was able to climb up and get her , and carry her down with no carrier at all. I’m learning so much from your videos. Thank you!
So glad you find them helpful! Thanks for your comment!
You're a hero 🎉 Excellent job rescuing the kitty 🎉 👏👏👏
In the UK, we phone the Fire Service to come out, because they have very long ladders. Also because the firemen ain’t too hard on the eyes. 😉
It's great that you can do that!
It could traumatize them, Fluffy must have been traumatized and that's really scary and very sad and heartbreaking.
He was a little shook by the experience.
The Cat backpack, idea sounds really good as long as you feel safe climbing the ladder. It seems like it would be good to have one on hand either way, then at least someone who can balance safely on the ladder has a safe way to bring the pet down! Great Video!
It does!
Thank you for this video. 😊
You are so welcome!
Local fire department has long ladders. They rescued our cat a few years ago.
That's great! Many fire departments won't.
I notice that you didn't mention the Fire Department. Maybe this is an idea from old movies?
My understanding is the most fire departments no longer save cats.
My f.d. refused to come out on two occasions, both in the 1990s -2000s.
But thank you for saving Fluffy.
Always!
Very helpful suggestions! In many circumstances, the sudden environment change can disorient an indoor cat leading to them getting lost. Better to be proactive then to wait it out
Very true!
The other ideas you mentioned surely sounds like "from keyboard ideas", as you say they sound very unsafe and unpredictable. This method, when possible, seems the best. Just have to be very careful!
Yes, exactly
please look for video of police rescuting cat way up tree ..... him and his partner took a blanket , folded it , shook it a few times ,and called the cat while shaking blanket ....within 30 seconds the cat jumped from tree and they opened blanket .........cop acted like he did exactly same procedure dozen times .....simply amazing that cat jumped safely into the stretched blanket
If you have the people and time, this might be a possible solution. Thanks for sharing!
Great info, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, great job👏 congratulations! That was very impressive 😮
Thank you so much, Dianne. The backpack did the trick.
@@9LivesToLive I’ve been thinking of getting one of those 👍
Hope you're available to come out on call!
P.S. Payment negotiable
LOL. Only friends and family service.
If they fall they have one less life to go they always land on their feet right?
They do land on their feet, but can also get seriously injured if they fall from a height.
They will come down, no need to risk yourself or call the FD.
Sometimes. Sometimes they also fall.
@@9LivesToLive The average cat can fall 200ft with little to no injuries.
I dont know about that. One of my cats was stuck in a tree for 48 hours and wouldn't come down because the property owner refused to take his pitbulls inside. Had to call a tree service to rescue the cat.
He or she, him or her.
