Joel Edgerton, one of the greatest actors of this time. He makes each of his characters come to life in such a powerful way. Brilliant as a movie writer and director as well.
I can't wait to see this film. I've followed Mr. Schrader's films since "Light Sleeper," and at that point went back and watched everything that came before. Something about them reverberates in me, like music, long after I've watched them, and some--like LS--I've watched over and over. I can imagine these stories as one does with fables, as he mentions, and they touch on something that feels very true about being human. They're quite beautiful to look at, too.
This whole thing just makes me smile. Schrader makes excellent, insightful points, a true wise sage. Nice friendly jabs at actors, and I just love Sigourney. Been a fan since I saw and was terrified by Alien as a kid, before Ghostbusters and The Year of Living Dangerously.
Schrader had been Soderbergh-like, in that while he had recognizable interests, their execution was unpredictable. How refreshing his films are since he ‘revisited Transcendental Style’. The directors he identified there are so worth acquainting oneself with, like Jessica Hausner.
Sorry but Paul Schrader has misunderstood why we don't believe that relationship ... it's not because we think such a thing is unbelievable, it's because unfortunately here in this film it was so extremely badly done, with zero chemistry between the two actors, that it was impossible to buy it here in the course of this film!!
Listen to Shrader talk for the first two minutes and you should have some idea how little vision he had for this concept and how little effort was exerted to develop and execute the concept. I was a huge Paul Shrader fan, but not after Card Counter and Master Gardener. Absolutely mediocre films at best.

his opening comments about the power of stories and imagination is wonderful. they should apply to all movies

I will always love sigourney Weaver!!!! Aliens 1986 /1979 changed my life 🤘🎬🫶
Its so weird hearing smart things said in an Australian accent, usually we are all idiots
I'd have given him a Manchester accent.
