I've had so many issues with decals over the years, after hours and hours or work, only to be f...ked by thick/bad decals... I will get those 3rd party decals right now... I Love the Su-27 family - so you have helped us fans so much...

Matt that is a real shame this happened as you were steaming along beautifully, we have all learnt about GWH decals at your expense !! you know i reckon most modellers have kept going at a point where they KNOW things are going wrong….. your honesty is refreshing , keep posting ! Cheers

We've all been there. Decals can make or break the final outcome.
If you intended to inter the model in competition, then fuuuuck.......otherwise, that's a brilliant effort with a more than a satisfactory outcome.
    Model on dud.
Would love to see it finished.

From several feet away no one will never notice. Id just put it on the shelf. Still a very impressive looking build.

I've taken the warning and ordered up the decals from Begemot and avoid the hassle and disappointment in the boxed ones.
Thanks for the work on this.

I feel your pain, Matt, but take some comfort in the knowledge that (a) from the average viewing distance an casual observer won't notice the blemishes caused by the decals, and (b) you did an absolutely OUTSTANDING job!

Still think your work looks awesome. The metal work is stunning. 👍

I realise why the decals frustrated you but your finish on the kit is very nice. The metallic heat effects are great. Its still light years ahead of the kits we built in the 1960s

Bit late to the party here but GWH seem to have now outsourced their decal production to Galaxy Model whih has vastly improved the quality of their decals. I'm currently building the SU-30 SM kit and the decals are great. They conform to the recess rivets after one application of Micro Sol and the carrier film is invisible after a coat of clear.

This is one of the reasons I mostly stick to AFV's, something ends up wonky towards the end, just slap some mud or equipment over it.

Shit. Man, the engine was like a damn work of 16th century stained glass! That pisses me off so much! Great quality decals there Ping Chow.

Man, this kit looks AMAZING. You can't see the sheen from a normal distance imo

I join with all below in sharing the pain of this incident, but respect your looking it in the eyes and absorbing the loss with dignity; the kit does still overflow with absolutely fantastic workmanship, so head held high.As an aside, I didn't watch the whole build, but did see the tail exhaust area with metallics, oils, and clears, and now see that much of the color achieved at that point seems to have been notably diminished by follow up weathering and other techniques [not an experienced modeler] Just an observation by an admittedly non experienced modeler, but I think you might want to somehow keep the more colorful end result as in your build reference photos you had on your phone. They did evidence an amazing variety of colors and levels of vibrancies, but to me it seems you achieved them, then lost them. Again, with greatest respect, just an observation with fresh eyes on.Best to you, thanks for your videos.

Dam Dam Dam Matt, & I am sure similar words were used by yourself. I think we all have an idea how frustrating it is to get to this stage & to discover the decals are inferior & after all that hard work. Still looks the part & don’t beat yourself up about it. Look forward to seeing it finished.

Hmmmm. I got this kit as soon as it was released. I guess I will be ordering a set of decals for it.

    I think it looks great
Sometimes we can be too critical about our own work.
Real life stencils are rarely perfect so I wouldn’t worry.
Your work is amazing BUT if you could watch your language please as I sometimes share videos with my wife and son.
Thank you. Rob from the United Kingdom

Do you think that new transparent primer you just got would work on these decals? I remember in one of your videos that you mentioned that it made the carrier film pretty much disappear. Might be worth a shot?

Have you tried a dry transfer decal where trouble like those persist in wreaking your modeling project.

Yup. I wish these companies would make Better decals.. hasegawa has terrible decals. Too thick to even conform to panel lines

A curious question- why didn't you throw a ton of dirt, black wash, or whatever other modelers do to make a beautiful model looks dirty?

Always can make an aerial combat - dog fight diorama out of it with an USAF F22 fire the AIM 120 or AIM-9X at it make United States Air Force win or May be one of the NATO fighters win... like I did with my old MIG 25 in pieces
