VOC and A/B testing are different and complementary techniques. VOC is about listening to what customers say. A/B testing is about observing what they do. VOC is most often used for thinking forward - but can also be used to assess what you have. A/B can only be used on existing or prototype setups. Because sometimes people say one thing and do another, it is wise to do as you say, and use A/B tests to supplement VOC data and assess where it is reliable and where there are conflicts you need to investigate further.
