I feel like Keller's growth also shows just how important it is to find the right coach and the right system for certain players. It can get super exhausting being a Coyotes fan on the internet -- where people can be just needlessly vitriolic all the time -- and your leveled Coyotes takes are always such a welcome breath of fresh air
There was a disallowed goal in the San Jose game on April 1st that would've gotten him the record. Sharks challenged for GI, after review the refs say there's no GI but the puck was frozen (no whistle so...). Still confused by that one and slightly salty about it.
This last year is coming off an major injury where he broke his fibula at the end of 20-21 season. That could have been career ending, but he came back and had his best season.
Keller is a star. Can't wait to see him wearing the C! Reinforcements are on the way. Cooley coming soon. Plus Bill Armstrong and the front office are top notch!
He’s not Elias Pettersson, but he’s still a great player. Arizona, if they have any plans on being a playoff team and ultimately a contender, which they should be, should have Keller in their plans long term. He’s the best player I’ve seen there since Keith Tkachuk. Different kind of player, but in terms of impact on the team and go to guy, he’s the one. He just needs a lot of help. But don’t let your management trade him, guys. He’s a keeper. All the best to the Coyotes. They’re going to be a good team soon, so support them through this.
Definitely seems like a underrated player and seems to have taken a few steps forward in progression with Tourigny. Cool to see him taking that step up with these coyotes and a vid on the guy that's a great player to watch with Arizona that doesnt really get talked about too much outside of a few spots or maybe i just havent seen it. and hes really good with a room left to go imo to be even better.
I feel like the on ice narrative will change sooner than we think with the coyotes. Players like keller have shown interest in commiting there and they seem to have their coach for the foreseeable future. Im not a yotes fan but hopefully they can get that new building and finally be a respected franchise in a few years
As an STL native I am obligated to note that Keller was one of 5 STL kids drafted in the first round of the 2016 draft, right behind his friend Matthew Tkachuk.
He also set a Coyotes record for point streak with a 14 gamer (23 pts) this past March. Not the franchise record but the only ones with longer were Hawerchuk and Selanne
Definitely up there. But most hockey fans are on some level aware that he's a stud. My vote goes to Scott Mayfield or Erik Cernak. Defenders get much less attention
Not to even mention the fact that he had his best season yet, SNAPPED HIS FEMUR IN HALF at the end of it, and then went on to have a new best season AGAIN.
Keller and Debrincat were the 2 players I wanted the Oilers to draft that year. They could have gotten Mcdavid, Barzal, Keller and Debrincat in back to back drafts lol.
At the time a lot of people thought that deal was horrible because it was after the 18-19 season where he scored 47 points and 82 games. But I knew he’d bounce back and be much better

My humble opinion says Toronto receives Clayton Keller with a first round draft pick for Austin Matthews. Immediate savings with still a huge player. Signed for a couple more years. Could be worse.
Star yes, easy yes but super/mega star no. He need to stay consistent with his points right now and quickly he can become that superstar. Also I think him getting the C would help a long way with his reputation and recognition as well in the outside fan bases.
Keller could hit 50 goals 50 assists. I think he will at his peak. One of the most underrated scorers in the league for sure. Most underrated player though? I'd lean towards pure defensive players to find the actual most underrated player. (Mayfield, Cernak, Roy etc)
I can't say I was ever really concerned with the keller contract aging poorly, the tocchet system was just so stifling and the coyotes were getting putrid amounts of shots night after night
Serious question, in the 27 years the team has been in Arizona, has a Coyotes player ever won an individual award as a member of the Coyotes? For example, they had Taylor Hall for a bit, but he won his MVP with the Devils, so that doesn’t count. I honestly can’t remember if the Coyotes have ever won an award… Maybe a Jack Adams for one of their coaches? 🌘
