      That's right! Thanks for reminding me. Isn't it amazing how she didn't have a problem with her Son being raised by Two Gay Men and how classy she was when she was reunited with him. She was so proud at how Maternal Albert was to Val and what a fine young man he was.

    I love that Val's birth mom shows that she cared for him despite not being around for most of his life.
    In the stage version, she wanted nothing to do with him.

      @Rose-xy5pe Рік тому +15

      Yeah. I like that they made her more realistic and human. Like she wanted her son but just couldn’t be responsible enough to raise him.
      While I believe a mother should always be there for her child, I can forgive the ones who have the decency to recognize that they’re not meant to be mothers instead of just coming and going and making false promises.

    The song they sing, "Love Is In The Air," has lyrics & music by Stephen Sondheim. It was the opening number of his musical "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum," but the original director -- the legendary George Abbott -- insisted that it be replaced by something catchier and more in the spirit of the broadly farcical story. Hence "Comedy Tonight," which Jerome Robbins came in and staged, and which did the trick and helped make the show a hit. (Abbott worked similar miracles by making Leonard Bernstein write "Some Other Time" for "On The Town" and having Adler & Ross add "Steam Heat" to "The Pajama Game.) "Love Is In The Air," like several other "lost" Sondheim songs, later turned up in revues and other collections of his songs.

    Also both Christine Baranski and Nathan Lane were both on The Good Wife. Diane Lockhart was so Gangsta! when she B Slapped Alicia for "Backstabbing" her. I cant' say I blame her. She took on Alicia Florrick whose Husband was involved in a major political Scandal and she hardly hardly had any Legal Expereince as a Lawyer.

      @@livelifeincolour I know she personally didn't have a problem with it but complicitness is half the battle. She could have stood up to her parents right from the start like "look this is the family I'm marrying into and thats that", but my point was more to how sad it was that Val was ashamed of his parents, the people who raised him, and, judging by the size of the house and Armand owning his own business, raising him quite decently off

      Not a good arrangement. Children need mothers. This is a film. Not real life. Growing, birthing and breastfeeding babies is a LOT more difficult than a man sticking his dick in a woman and ejaculating.

      Their conversation talks about the one time they had sex. He was wanting to see what the fuss was about with being with a woman. He was always gay. Its assumed she got pregnant from that one time. Because she was very young and naive he paid her to have the baby and give him full custody. He raised Val with Albert. Its also implied in the beginning of the movie Albert came into their lives after Val was born.
