Rose has been the most unexpectedly powerful healing plant ally in my life. It's also been very helpful for me to remember that the thorn is just as much the rose as the flower part of the plant is. It can only be so open, beautiful and fragrant, etc, *because* of it's thorns. Another thing I learned about picking roses esp in urban areas to bee good to our Bee friends is to leave one petal and the center part on the flower for a bee to land on and get the pollen. Or if the flower is slightly faded compared to it's neighbors, that means a bee has already taken the pollen so it's ok to take the whole thing. One important thing you didn't mention is to NOT use roses that grow on busy streets or roadsides-- they absorb toxins and pollutants extremely well.

When you said. 'I get a bit of a high, collecting flowers'. Me too, I actually think that I am addicted to foraging in general. I cannot go for a walk without coming home with bags full of vegetation! I recently found my true vocation, collecting while out walking, for stuff to make hand made incense sticks. :o) Did you know that the plants will sing their own song to you if you ask?

Ive been rose obsessed for my whole life, but I have been making SO MUCH rose petal medicine this year in the form of elixers with both vodka and brandy with honey from our bees and our own Bulgarian and other various wild and domestic roses. This video really let me know that I am on track and that she really is showing up powerfully to those of us who are listening.

That sounds awesome! I personally buy a pound of organic rose petals, and then for about 6 months: stuff a French coffee press full of rose petals, top off w fresh water, leave it in the fridge overnight and then have some... it's already in a French press....

🌷 what a lovely way of description ⚘
My experience came with the passing of my Mother... the amount of constant rose scents..without Rose's actual appearance made me see Grief is healed with the scent of a Rose🕊

They say this happens when the Divine Feminine (in the archetype of the Mother, usually) is present. Prior to knowing this, I had this same experience visiting a monestary dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Strong rose scent, out of no where. Happened repeatedly. I looked around the building, trying to find the source, but nothing...Now it makes sense :-)
They say the molecular vibration of the scent of rose is the fastest (in terms of Hz) of any flower; thus it is said to be the flower with the highest vibration, and closest to heaven. I know that when I have my nose in one, esp a wild rose, I'm intoxicated. No other thoughts. It's so wonderful it makes me want to unite with, marry, make love to, or become the flower. I feel as though something in my soul IS the flower. Divine!

Thank you Yarrow. I love your videos. I'm a Bach Flower practitioner. Great to hear you speak about one of those remedies. I think of the positive aspect of Wild Rose as being embodied by the guy in Tianamen Square who stood in front of the tank. Over my dead body!! I awaken out of my apathy, out of my slumber, out of my lack of concern for others, out of my belief I have no power and into a vibrant, connected being who is successful! Thank you so much for all your work. I've watched every video you've made.

Thanks for this Yarrow. #WildRoseCollege & your dad Terry hold a special place in my heart, being foundational for my life pleasures of the plant world & making delights like this.
I've been enjoying roses too making a floral essence in water set in the sun for the day. Add it to teas or as a solo drink. Now I am keen to try the honey-alcohol syrup & elixir, especially as many Roses seem to be ignored, left to die on the bushes. I capture the ones fading so it's less of a steal & more of sustaining her life... well that's what I tell my self. But the tiny Rose Buds are so sweetly fragrant & feel like kisses of love!

There's some really good wild roses that have been used for landscape and I am moving way up on a mountain where there are none!? I'm thinking of sneaking some with roots out of there because they get rose hips the size of an apple you can peel a nuff off of one to fill out the palm of your hand and then you still have the rose seeds. I should have done this years ago when they were little. I love these roses and I have used them since I was a kid and I'm almost 60.
