    Good job! I wish more of our American kids would watch these videos so they can see how an inventive and resourceful people can make nearly anything out of raw resources, like wood. The most important thing they could learn is how to be smart enough to make a living by using their hands and learning some craftsmanship. It looked like everybody in this shop had all their hands and fingers, so they must have learned their trade well.

      Hey, he had all his hands and fingers. All of them did in that shop. I generally look for that in EVERY shop I drop in on -- even here in the USA. These men know their tools can be dangerous and they're paying good attention to what they're doing and taking care in how they're doing it. I've seen lots of people who've been hurt and maimed by becoming complacent because their tools had so many "safety features," so they didn't feel the need to be so careful. Just when they think they can't get hurt is usually when something happens that hurts them.

    So much wastage of wood, they make an unnecessarily long rectangle and then cut a circle out of it. Better to have smaller pieces on the sides, and longer pieces in the middle, and then cut a circle so that less material is wasted. Or just make rectangles and sell for more money because the surface area is larger. By doing some thinking and planning beforehand, they could cut their raw material costs by at least 20%

      @Abi.e do you think these people don't know what you saying? the off cuts and sawdust are sold to people who use it for many other purposes. What they producing is a high quality item. @@dulajohnstone5704 Your comment makes no sense, why produce unnecessarily large offcuts just so that you can sell them? With better planning you can have much less wastage of your expensive lumber.
      This is not high quality at all - someone who has taken a beginner woodworking course could turn out something equivalent. Do you see them using sandpaper to get a nice finish anywhere in this video? Given that these will be used for rolling out dough, do you think the wax and varnish that they used is food safe?
      I admire that they can turn out something usable with the third world tools and technology that they have, but high quality this is not.

    • @yepiratesworkshop7997
      @yepiratesworkshop7997 2 роки тому +1

      @@dulajohnstone5704 I think you are correct, Dula. Nothing gets wasted. When I'm doing my blacksmith work, there isn't a chip or a cut-off or anything -- except the scale and the rust -- that doesn't go into the scrap pile or scrap bucket for when I need something just that size. The same when I'm working in my leather shop. About the only leather I 'waste' is the dust from when the cuttings get that small. "Waste not -- want not," it's not only in the Bible (probably in the Quran, too) -- it's a GOOD IDEA.
