People will always hate on a band simply because they have talent and know how to play their horns there's nothing wrong with SU brass sections or anything they sound clean and smooth they know what they can play and not play!

Whatever Southern is doing in their arrangements it must have worked. Every band in the SWAC has changes their playing style over the last decade.

wait su holding on to there tradition they still sound the same but with a lil slightly less power then the 70s 80s and 90s but u right the other hbcu in the swac changed there style
People who want to critique Marching Bands should go all the way and invest in a good sound system. But if you don't know what a good Band is, you are blowing into the wind.

First off...everyone ain't play'n first on trumpet. Please stop tell'n that fugg'n lie. Second...the trumpets are strong as hell this year. Listen to sum'n like "On my Grind". Ain't shit wrong with the trumpets. But, "as usual" they gotta sit under that mello and low brass blanket...so, they only SEEM weak

If you put southern's trumpets with any other swac band, the complaint would be that they are too loud. To me it seems like the lower brass section is beating this year. Went to NSU game and heard them live, ain't nothing weak about their trumpets. Last year they stood out because Glendon was pushing insane Watts by himself while hitting Piccolo notes. Ijs

Look at it like this. JSU trumpets still heard over all the lower brass and mellos they have this year. SU trumpets don't have a foundation. All of them play 1st. No Thirds nor Seconds. Then you got trumpet dude in the middle trying to be a GLEN. SMH
First off JSU low brass isnt strong as SU an you cant hear JSU trumpets on certain Songs a line of skaters cheating the Notes all they can hit is G's lmaoooo maybe 1 will attempt to the stratosphere lmao but if you say so i went to Boombox classic an SU trumpets own JSU trumpets
