I caught occasional glimpses here of that excited, happy little girl playing with Sam Bush many years ago on Woodsongs.
@@roadie3124 Look up "Cluck Old Hen" with Alison Strauss when she was 12 , if you haven't seen it already. She has amazing touch and clarity even at that age, and being on stage doesn't faze her at all.
@@edeledeledel5490 Thanks for the suggestion. It's one of my favourites. By the way, I think she was actually 14 st the time of this appearance with Alison Krauss and the band.
@@roadie3124 Krauss introduces her as 6th Grade, and Wikipedia tells me that is 11-12 years old. Have you seen Boulderdash with Bela Fleck and Noam Pikelny. Even Noam, who plays with Chris Thile, is obviously impressed.
@@edeledeledel5490 Alison Krauss may have been indulging in a bit of hyperbole when she introduced her as from the 6th grade. Whatever her age, she was very young at the time. I've been a fan since I saw her appearance with Sam Bush on Woodsongs.
Just found bluegrass late in life. Seems to me there’s a renaissance in the genre. Everybody’s pushing the envelope, and it’s amazing.
Every person on that state is a world class musician.
Sam always seems to be having the most fun.

I had the pleasure of seeing Bela Fleck My Bluegrass Heart two nights in a row! And I had the pleasure of meeting a few of the band members. Wow! Just wow! Everyone of these musicians blew my mind!

The amount of talent and years of practice on that stage is just amazing.
All of these guys are great, but every time I see Sierra cut loose it just blows me away. You just don't expect that kind of dynamite from such a sweet little thing.
Wow, the talent on that stage is incredible. These are the best of Nashville by a significant margin.
Mastery of not just an instrument, but also of a form, brought to its highest level- bravo!

There's a version of this tune from about 40 years ago with Tony Rice on guitar. Sam Bush plays his first solo so fast that you see Tony turn to Béla and mouth 'Too fast!'.

If you’ve been strictly a metalhead, and you wanna see some pickin’, this rabbit hole is huge. Go back in country also. Check out Roy Clark Glen Campbell Chet Atkins. Just type in those names with shred.
And if you have a mind to go into the jazz genre, Allan Holdsworth, Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin. Yeah, if you’ve just stayed in metal, you have a lot of work to do.
Check out Billy Strings and Tommy Emmanuel also. Tommy Emmanuel shreds acoustic on all types of music.

You've got a new subscriber ♥ I just saw one night of his Bluegrass Heart tour last week. It was a fantastic night out for me. A smaller venue, sadly, and no Sam Bush or Jerry Douglas, but the rest were there. I think I need to get some Bluegrass up on my channel. I used to have a Bluegrass channel on YT (it's even still here!), but I'm truly locked out by the powers that be. I put in a phony phone (sorry, awful pun) # because I didn't want to give that out in 2009. Great channel! I shall be visiting often. So glad that people like you are keeping Bluegrass alive and well in the world today. All the best.

Just saw Sam this past Friday at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, but have to miss Bela today. Kinda wondering if Sierra might drop in, since Jason is listed as part of Bela's band. Will try to catch the live stream, if I get home in time.
The closest we get to Bluegrass like that in Australia is a paddock next to the ocean....superb muso's.
Bella and his wife played in Melbourne last year…but bluegrass it wasn’t.

A rear tear jerker for me. Wow! Why is that? I jammed all night long at every Strawberry Music Festival from 1984 till about 1994. We printed the t-shirts for the festival, so we got in 20+ friends for free. Trade printing for free tickets. Pot luck camping for 3 days. A keg of beer helps. Where the Grateful Dead kids danced in circles to that hill billy music, that rocks your soul.

I don't know who that bass player is but he has to be a really good bass player to keep up with talented and gifted musicians like this.
He's Mark Schatz, multi instrumentalist and a talented dancer as well. He played with Nickel Creek for some years and has earned respect. One of the glue guys, sometimes behind the scenes.

I don't know why, but for some reason fast bluegrass can put me to sleep pretty easily. Maybe it's just comforting to the point where I start yawning. I love it, but if I'm driving I'll either start driving like an asshole or get tired lol

Virtuozně ovládané nástroje, ale jako tlupa brnko sólistů je to neposlouchatelné. Kde je pohodička Čermáka, Maliny, Křesťana, Scruggse , Triskchy o dalších a na úplném konci té řady bych se sám ucházel o to poslední místečko, na banjo se učím 56 let, trošku málo mi to brnká!
