J.B. Smoove is a comic genius!!! I love watching him more than anybody else in Curb. Smoove's facial expressions, body language, vocal delivery and improvised dialogue are priceless. He always seems to be in maximum comic creative flow.
Yeah but I didn't realize that JB Smoove has been with the show this long. He's not that funny doing stand up by himself but he is hysterical when he is paired with Larry David.

So, Larry is standing in the middle of the room, and this is exactly what I said to Larry, verbatim: I walk up to Larry as Leon, I said, “OK, Larry, let’s do this, baby.” You know, this is improv, right? I said, “OK, let’s improv.” And since this is improv, I said, “I don’t know Larry, I might fuck around and slap you in the face.” And that’s exactly what I said to him, and Larry looked at everybody else like, “What the, who the hell is this guy?”
This is one of the funniest improv moments on Curb. This was not scripted and both actors were free to riff. Amazing how they didn't break character laughing. I would have been laughing my A@s off for sure. Leon is epic with Larry....
Every scene with Leon is a treasure. I was so glad when he randomly showed up in the New York season. He it was totally shoehorned in but it also totally fit the character.

Curb is in a class of its own. It is the most consistently funny show ever made. I can watch the episodes hundreds of times and it still puts me on the floor laughing just like the first time.

I don't think there are many outtakes. LD wants natural behavior. He tells everyone the basics of the scene and then lets everyone do their thing. To me, it's a more organic process that creates a more subtle but more effective brand of humor than when everything is meticulously scripted.
The only thing more amazing than this scene is the fact that Larry isn’t laughing hysterically through it. I’ve watched it more times than I’ll admit and I’m still laughing like it’s the first time, every time.

Kramer is in an episode of Curb with Leon he thinks he has Groats disease Larry tells Kramer he will introduce him to Danny who has Groats disease but Danny has died so he gets Leon to pretend he is Danny to talk to Kramer about how he lives with the disease!

This is one of the many Curb scenes in particular that show how unpredictably brilliant an improv scene can be.
Leon is by *far* my favorite Curb character, over all these years. Whenever he comes into a scene it's always "alright, Leon!"
