Good A/B sound comparison. I always love more intake sound. I know they don't really do anything in terms of hp, but I think it adds to the cars communication with the driver.
Nice video again. Instructive enough, yet not boring at all. I am officialy subscribed now. Would really be great to see different setups on dyno. Or at least to see step by step what happens to the power curve after adding each of the mods. I somehow feel the HKS supercharger would be subtle yet powerful enough enhancer for this car in the future.
Curious to see whether this adds any power or not. The intake resonator and the plenum that takes up space in front of the pulleys to the left of the factory airbox are supposedly important for performance. There's probably some slight weight savings with this, but I wonder if there's any actual engine performance benefit. Would not be surprised if it were functionally just an expensive aesthetic engine dress up mod. Especially curious as to whether there's any real difference compared to the stock airbox with the charcoal filter removed.
Intake bible would be great..!! Too bad there arent many options at this point. The armaspeed is nice, but not nice enough to justify the price IMO. That is even after they reduced it significantly. The carbon diber is what adds to the cost. Make it all silicone\plastic and it will function the same and cost less.
@@Yalla2A Ive seen it. If you want looks it is quite the looker. I personally dont care what it looks like because I don't have my hood open with the engine on display. It is also CRAZY expensive and will not offer an more power than any other intake. For those looking to make a show car, it would be great.
The 86 was never meant to be a car built for power, it’s always been about the driving experience and the communication between driver and car. Anything to improve that experience and communication is perfect for a car like this
I bought the GR performance air filter, drops in the stock box, and it sounds pretty. I feel like anything other than the stock intake system takes away power. I may be wrong.
I wonder if heat soak is worse with this intake. The aluminum absorbs more heat than the stock plastic one does. That heat is then transferred straight into the engine and harms performance.
I like the hose and the box, but that cover looks way out of place. also the design on the top makes it kind of look like something you get at autozone. I would definitely fab a new cover. but at that point, just buy something different, or fab something yourself.
I spent way to much on a gruppem carbon fiber ram air intake system. Looks slick sounds fantastic, haven't dynod it yet but honestly as long as I don't lose power I'm happy with it on sound alone
That is one of the few intakes that I would say is beneficial. However, the gains won't show up on the dyno just due to the nature of the design and how the airflow needs to be at speed to see the benefits.
@@KevinVo makes sense. Sounds incredible. Not really sure it was worth the price tag but we'll see how I feel in like 6 months. I definitely wish they offered it in a cheaper material though I feel like half the cost was the carbon fiber
Hello! Do have any information if other aftermarket companies will come out with an intake eventually for the 2022+ brz/gr86? For example like Perrin, Grimmspeed, Aem?
Haha, gonna have to disagree with you on making it faster. My only 2 WRX mods are an accessport and charcoal filter delete/Grimspeed high flow air filter… 😊
Doesn’t modifying the intake not always cost some hp, except for removing the restrictive mesh from the stock one? Even the supercharged 86 of my friend uses the stock intake as his tuner told him it’s the best option.
Have you tried different snorkels as well, I’ve seen pictures of the standard intake snorkel that lives in the bumper also has those little resonance chambers. It’s also quite a long path and could be lowering intake noise.
@Kevin Vo one more quick question, are you tuning the car after install? I'm wanting to get the uel catless headers intake and exhaust and was wondering if I need a tune or if it's safe to run without a tune 🤔
0:35 when Kevin said “no matter what intake you use on your FRS, BRZ or GR86 you’re not going to see a huge increase in power.” The lie detector test determined, that was a lie. IF you have a nice little spinny boy right behind that intake you will notice that instead of going from 0-60 in 3-4 business days you will make it in 1-2 business days. That good sir, IS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF POWAAA!!!!!
All this typing and missing the point of Kevin's comment. Nobody's talking about a turbo when they mention aftermarket intakes. Kevin has credibility whereas you do not.
so hideous, especially for the price. K&N is a decent option, but I think the upcoming Takeda is going to be the way. great content as per usual though, Kev :)
Been living vicariously through you and your 86 mods. Good stuff man
Appreciate your support!
Definitely would love to see a comprehensive video with all the major brand intakes for this car with dyno testing and data comparisons
I have a 2019 and a 2023, this channel keeps me up at night with dreams of all the mods….so many mods.
that is one of the best looking cold air intake I have ever seen! Sounds awesome too!

That vacuum line hose clamp being under tension the entire video after you re installed the new intake was scary

Please do an Intake Bible. K&N could be next.
Its crazy how noticeable better it sounds. Can’t way for the dyno runs and the videos ahead.
I don't think it adds any power at all vs charcoal filter removal in stock intake. It just sounds better.
like gt86. more sound but no more power
@@nn99nn99 I fear more about a loss on low rpm with exhaust and filter without ecu tuning
Looking sweet man!
actually a huge difference in sound how cool
Get the HKS Carbon Fiber engine cover or the battery box cover to complete it, looks and sounds great imo
I've got some more engine dressup parts in the works!
Love the videos. Please crack the ECU, thanks.
1 year later, still no dyno :D
When I went on their website it doesn’t even give the option to add your code. So that’s great.

Curious about the induction sound with the induction microphone wired in on the speakers of the car
Is there any difference between the black and red besides the red accent for the 100$ price difference??
It's been a while but last I looked this was over $800!!!😱😱😱 For that much I'll stick with the stock one for now LOL It does look very nice though!

This might be a silly concern: since you are removing both intake resonators, could the intake actually decrease hp?
We'll see how it worked out on the dyno.

More engine performance mods on the gr86 pls🙏🙏
What about the gr86 intake from Toyota?
Hello! Do have any information if other aftermarket companies will come out with an intake eventually for the 2022+ brz/gr86? For example like Perrin, Grimmspeed, Aem?
Yes, there are currently companies working on other aftermarket intake designs.
I know Grimmspeed and Perrin definitely are. Not sure about AEM or Injen but they most likely will.
Does this kit cause the engine light problem (as some kits do)?
yeah not for that price….for maybe 4hp lol! try the new K&N typhoon intake system its cheaper at $400 right now on sale.
Do you have a tune heard some pops lol downshifting?
Nope, no tune! Just an AWE Touring catback exhaust.
2 videos back to back? we're getting spoiled
How much horse power do you think this will add?
Are pulley covers a new thing now? Never seen that before. I’d take them off.
They're not new, they were on the first gen as well.
@@KevinVo I meant in general
you mentioned "with a tune". Did someone finally crack the stock ecu?
HKS supercharger Please :)
you mentioned there are more videos of the frs underway, do they still develop new products for the gt86/ frs?
There are still companies developing new products for the 1st gen, but obviously not nearly as much as the new one.
@@KevinVo thanks for the respond!
I’ve seen a ram intake Design but it was wayyy too pricy, I hope someone else goes with that design and makes it affordable tbh

Ram air intakes for NA engines are just a gimmick anyway, has no effect on power

can you weight the stock intake and the armaspeed for comparison?
Are intakes for this car like before? If you don't tune for it'll blow your engine lol
This be a hot air in take my guy. Anything inside the engine while the car runs is hot. I do like the carbon fiber look inside the engine.
It's a cold air just like the OEM unit as it has a snorkel that pulls air from the front of the car behind the bumper.
Do you know of any driving lights that are available for the 2022 GR86? Thank you.
Are you referring to headlights? If so, the OEM headlights a pretty damn good. I don't know of any aftermarket units at this time.
Doesn’t modifying the intake not always cost some hp, except for removing the restrictive mesh from the stock one? Even the supercharged 86 of my friend uses the stock intake as his tuner told him it’s the best option.
680 is a lot for show and some sound. For the price, I would expect the whole box to be carbon.
Eh, intakes where the whole intake is carbon are around $1500.
@@KevinVo not really...the COBB Redline intakes are super high quality full carbon fiber and are $750.

Armaspeed is pathetic. There's no benefit in weight or sound to just the "cover" being made of carbon fiber.
