Sadly i've found the newer Indonesian made Ibanez has too many QC issues. Once they sort that out then they're worth considering. A MIJ Ibanez is simply one of the finest guitars you can buy. So always look for a 2nd hand MIJ Ibanez over a new Indonesian one...The quality is worth the $

Bought a used RGA42T for $150 and couldn't be happier..there are QC issues indeed but not a big deal. Replaced the crappy pickups with a Gibson 490T / 490R humbuckers and it rocks. The mahogany body makes a big difference in tone. It resonates well compared to the more expensive Alder bodies I own like the Charvel and the AZ PRESTIGE.

@@bradhill935 well it’s a tough one. The MIJ (midgets) don’t have to bend over as far to see the imperfections. Thankfully I hit a growth spurt in my late 39 so I don’t have to play a minion guitar or ride a pony anymore:)

I just bought a new RGA42EX-BAM, gorgeous colour and body, so much slimmer and light then my older GRG model. I don't think it's worth going for a more expensive one yet but maybe one day :)

RG421, schechter omen extreme 6, chapman ml1 modern abyss?

I'm a big fan of Ibanez guitars..just recently again bought 1997 RG-550 LTD JAPAN..it was my first good Ibanez (I don't know why I sold it in 2001) The RG-550 LTD is fantastic pretty much better than the new 550 Made in Indonesia.

Ibanez is the best, followed by Jackson. I also love Schecter though, and those are the only luthiers I've played on/owned. There was one time I played a 67 Strat, but unplugged, all excellent guitars.

    • @machupikachu1085
      @machupikachu1085 3 роки тому

I know it's all subjective, and there is really no 'best', but have you tried ESP? I've got a Jackson , an Ibanez Jem and some Schecters as well, but those ESP's almost play themselves. They are flippin' spooky.

@@machupikachu1085 I haven't had the privilege of playing on ESP or Ltd for that matter. They are on my bucket list though, they are such sexy instruments.

    • @machupikachu1085

@@ferociouspterodactyl520 Those ESP's are crazy money, but really worth it I think. You'll keep them for life.
Sometimes, you can also find deals out there. For example, The Kramer Focus series from 1986-1990 were made entirely at the ESP factory in Japan, and my Focus 6000 plays almost identically to my Mirage II. Plus, the F6000's have an original Floyd Rose, where my Mirage doesn't. So it may not say it on the head stock, but you would have a Japanese ESP for about the price of a new Korean made guitar FWIW.
What kind of music do you typically play?

@@machupikachu1085 When I was first teaching myself I played stuff like chevelle, red jumpsuit apparatus, alt rock kinda stuff, nowadays, strictly metal. Currently working on log and killswitch engage, chimaira, old school stuff, the newer metal is too advanced for lil old me, but thanks to Bernth my technique has vastly improved so I might just start playing more techy stuff. You?

@@ferociouspterodactyl520 I was fortunate enough to have a recording contract a few years back, but after the band folded, I didn't really play when I went back to college. During the pandemic, I bought my first 7 string, a cheap Jackson for less than $200 on sale, and started trying to figure it out. It's amazing! I play it more than my ESP's!
Since I have the 7 string now, I've been playing along to bands like Slipknot, Dream Theater, Marmozets and Nothing More, as well as discovering old school guitarists like Marty Friedman, George Lynch, Jake E. Lee and Tracii Guns. Also fell in love with legacy bands like Judas Priest and the Scorpions. All of those guitarists have phenomenal phrasing and note choices, so I am learning a lot by ripping them off lol.
Not sure if they are consistent, but if you can check out the Jackson JS22-DKA, I recommend it. After it was set up properly, mine is a BEAST! Best sustaining guitar I have except my neck thru Horizon.
      Cheers ! :)

    Sehr gutt.
Doesn't the RGA have a 27" scale? For downtuning?
This is the best time in history to buy a guitar.
I have a Japanese S series with the lowpro trem, and it's killer. I also have a Japanese SV which is an S series but thicker neck with V profile and two point gotoh trem with locking tuners. Great axe. I have a QS which is exactly like an RG, but has a mohagany body with a beautiful sapele quilt top instead if basswood body like the RGs. It has only two Humbuckers as well. VS the HSH most RGs have, but that's why I prefer it because the single coil in the middle gets in the way if my picking.
Great video. I like your more expensive Ibanez. 😜 Both are great though.
    Rock on sir.
