    This is so goddamn beautiful, thank you for this. Whenever there is a "natural vs artificial" debate, I try to explain that everything is natural - computers, transistors, AI - because we made them out of naturally occurring materials. This video shows just how ingenious humans are, that we made something *resembling* intelligence out of sticks and stones.
    Oh and also, really amazing explanations and presentation. You deserve a million subs!

    • @tyruskarmesin5418
      @tyruskarmesin5418 Рік тому +4

      Why just resembling intelligence? Sure, you can explain its inner workings as composed of simple parts, but you could do the same for biology, surely?

    • @flameofthephoenix8395
      @flameofthephoenix8395 Рік тому +4

      @@tyruskarmesin5418 Hm, I do not think so. For one, even if biology can be constructed from logic, to understand a fraction of that you would need to be a fraction as smart as evolution, and for as high as our human ego is, we talk a lot more than we do.

    • @rorychivers8769
      @rorychivers8769 Рік тому

      @@tyruskarmesin5418 Try looking at it this way, we're aware of our own consciousness, but it seems to be beyond our capacity to understand what actually causes it. We might be able to understand the mundane biology of the human brain, but do we really have any idea how our brain manages to convince ourselves of our own existence? Knowing how little we really understand about ourselves, is it really likely that we would be able to reproduce consciousness by accident?
      As it stands, every piece of computer equipment we have ever produced has been hand crafted into giving the impression of intelligence, but it is really an elaborate illusion, based on fundamentally simple procedures built on top on each other, arranged in a way that we can relate to.
      Even AI like ChatGPT, if you were to ask it whether it can think for itself, it will only produce a response that satisfies a model of the world it has generated based on the vast amount of human created data that has been fed to it. The model of the world it creates, is entirely rooted in the way that human engineers have designed the algorithm that creates the model in the first place. It might sound self aware, it might even be incredibly convincing, but it is only because it produces a result which sounds relatable to us because it matches the expectations of the input.
      So, just like a mirror only reflects the physical appearance of the person looking at it, AI only reflects the knowledge we give it back at us. To answer whether or not that constitutes real consciousness, first we'd have to understand human consciousness to begin with. Which we have been trying and failing to do for tens of thousands of years...

      @@flameofthephoenix8395evolution isn't intelligence, it's just random mutations in genes that get selected afterwards.
