Battle Map 5 Final Map BGM is the final boss soundtrack composed originally for the Nintendo Famicom game, Fire Emblem Gaiden, released in 1992.
Gaiden Story Medley was a live orchestrated soundtrack for the The 25th Anniversary of Love and Courage: Fire Emblem Festival (愛と勇気の25周年記念 ファイアーエムブレム祭) released as an album in 2015, this is played alongside four (4) other Gaiden soundtracks as a single-track medley along with tracks from every single game in the franchise in its twenty-five (25) years as a franchise.
Fire Emblem Gaiden had its eventual remake after nearly three decades. released in Spring 2017 for the Nintendo 3DS titled Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. Battle Map 5 Final Map BGM, now titled as Twilight of the Gods, was an orchestra soundtrack enhancing the final boss fight of the game.
Fire Emblem Warriors, released for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS in early Fall 2017. Celica was included in the game, she is the only Gaiden/SoV representative, and one of the only two characters not from Shadow Dragon/Awakening/Fates that is part of the main roster. She is an unlockable for the post-game, which added one (1) track for Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, Twilight of the Gods; but was heavily inspired by the Gaiden version Battle Map 5 Final Map BGM since development of the game was done earlier than Echoes: Shadows of Valentia's development at the time.
And in 2018, after the release of Fire Emblem Music Collection: Faith and Engagement album, Intelligent Systems released a new album titled Fire Emblem Music Collection: Flowers and Enchantment. The album features fifteen (15) tracks in total, each with a new arrangement and few are given lyrical composition for their tracks. One of the new arrangements featured was Battle Map 5 Final Map BGM (Player Side), the only Gaiden representative in the album despite having three (3) tracks representing Echoes: Shadows of Valentia in the album.
And that ends the history of the track Twilight of the Gods, for now. I wonder if they are going to release a Premium Arrange arrangement of this track? I personally want the SAX for this track, I can't wait! Hope you enjoy reading the description somewhat that I made up.

Can't see the differece, all are too epic
I dont want to be the guy who has to contradict you but.... Lyn and Celica aren't DLC for Warriors, they come in the base game already, sorry
Amazing video tho
@@illusion9685 No worries lmao. I forgotten that they were unlockable post game. I'll be sure to update the description when I can 👍
Gaiden: No Limitations in the universe will stop us from making the most epic final boss theme.
25th: Live-action adaptation of the classic song that happens during the third act of the movie/before the series finale.
Echoes SOV: modern Remake of the classic song that stay true to the original but has the effect of making some people cried.
Warriors: modern adaption of the classic song but put emphasize on the slow beat to make it more epic
FOE: Wierdest adaption of the classic song that leave people either liking it or hating it. Personally thinks it's fits in Fire Emblem Three Houses.
Fact: Echoes had the best version
Of course
Without a doubt. It's nothing short of amazing
Correct
It's amazing
The original was already awesome on it's on even in modern standards imo
idk, i really like the 25 years version.
“A battle between God and mortal? Sounds exhilarating to me!” -Lukas
Twilight of the Gods has been a banger for 28 sexy, sexy years
This is still by far the best Final Map OST in all Fire Emblem, and I can still say that Echoes has still the best Soundtrack in the franchise so far.
God Shattering Star is not bad either
The Apex of the world and between heaven and earth are very good too, the king of lions is very imposing too, well for me the best soundtrack is of three houses, this game has a lot of incredible music but fire emblem Echoes is incredible too
@@doloresgronenberg5882 While I'm personally not a fan of having The Edge of Dawn forcefully drilled into my head with almost every track in the Three Houses OST, I gotta say I'd put that as an easy 2nd or 3rd place due to my soft spot for Genealogy's soundtrack.
Indeed

God Shattering Star is second
28 years of Gaiden. Almost 3 years of echoes. Almost 30 years of FE. Man, how this song has changed overtime, yet stayed the same at the same time.
Unpopular opinion: Even when Three Houses came out, Apex of the World and God Shattering Star still don't hit me as hard as Twilight of the Gods did for Echoes. I'm sorry, I know it's heresy because everyone loves God Shattering Star, but Twilight of the Gods, even in the name, has more of a sense of the final battle that will pave the way to a future of peace and love, but the monster must be laid to rest first.
I wholeheartedly agree. I remember when Twilight of the God's leaked, I was instantly enamored with it. It really has that sense of being a do or die situation, a mighty battle to rattle the heavens. And the final part of the song, the way it swells with that sense of hope and desperation is just fantastic.
Apex of the World and God Shattering Star are both fantastic, definitely in the top 4 final map themes for me (Along with Id Purpose), but for me, Twilight of the Gods is THE best.
@@ShadowVincent3No doubts. Still for some reason, ID purpose has been the only title that could give me chills, no matter how many times I replay Awakening. Echoes makes me extremely psyched, and Apex only makes me feel empowered in the middle of the map. In terms of music though, I'd say Echoes is the best.
@@ylissotato I'd say it's the staging, build-up and the climax. It really sweeps you in with id(Returns), especially with everyone calling for you, building up and up until it, for lack of a better term, drops the bass and starts playing Purpose.
Then you have purpose itself, which like TotG has its own desperate hope feeling. You really feel as if this is the turning point of the future. Plus epic final battle versions of leitmotifs are fantastic.
But what gets me every time is the last half, where it sounds like the Fire Emblem theme. The slow build up, the chorus, the massive drums in the last bit, it's an auditory climax. It's things like that that make me flip flop on Purpose and TotG as being my favourite.
@@ShadowVincent3 Dang that's a good breakdown.
ok I accidentally had a window opened up to this song and then I accidentally had God Shattering Star up and it played wonderfully together!
Men, that moment when the 25 anniversary version ends and the SoV starts is really epic...
Like a calm introduction before the battle
I was trying to see why the comments were hyping up the transition and it happened when I wasn't paying attention, shivers went through my entire body so I understand it now.
There's even a history of the song in the description wtf. I didn't even knew this song had so many versions of it
Same. I thought it was just Gaiden and Echoes.
A battle between god and mortal? Sounds exhilarating to me.
Alm vs Duma _Atleast what happened for me_
Alm _Crit_: "This is how it's done!" _Takes Duma to half from full, But not enough to kill_
Alm dodges the laser beam of death
_Then he does another crit, Throwing his shield and just ends it_
My Alm in that playthrough was truly a legend and yes I played in hard mode
I love how often alm gets crits
Hard...
Classic?
Damn that be badass af.
I just finished the game today (not my first playthrough), and for me Alm kept failing to get a crit and every turn he’d BARELY fail at killing Duma, then Duma’d heal for fourty HP, and Alm would then AGAIN barely fail to kill. This went on for like five turns until I eventually just made Gray with tigerstance weaken Duma enough for Alm to kill (I tried to weaken Duma earlier, but the failsafe to prevent them from killing him kept kicking in). It was the most bizarre way for the game to have ended.
Look how far you came Fire Emblem Gaiden
I feel like I finally understand why Twilight of the Gods still speaks to me more than any of the TH final theme does. Don’t get me wrong, all final battle themes of TH (yes that means u God Shattering Star) are epic and well deserved for its praise but, it’s the personal feeling I get when I listen to it that just doesn’t hit it.
A side note, no, I have not played either SoV or TH. I’m purely going on what I read or managed to grasp in the lore of their respective series.
When I hear GSS, all it gives me is “We will win. We’re gonna kick Nemesis’ ass so hard that we’ll sing about the thing and there is nothing you can do about it!” Which is empowering and great! But also no sense of dread. The Golden Deer are gonna win and you know it. They’re not thinking of the consequences of losing because they’re not gonna lose. Which, yeah, really badass, but misses the turmoil I hear in other songs. It’s new and refreshing yes but not what I’m looking for (which is also why End of All kinda misses as well for me, not like with Id Purpose or TotG)
Now we get to TotG. Basically, it’s a song that says “We’re gonna fight a god, oh god, we’re probably humanity’s last hope and we might die but we have to do it. It’s hopeless but we gotta try!” There’s a sense of build up, tension, uncertainty. You hear in the song that they won’t give up but they know that fighting a god is near impossible, but they’re gonna do it anyway. And as the song progresses, you can actually feel them renewing hope, maybe this is possible, we’re doing it! And the last chorus is just, you see Alm shield bashing Duma and you are in AWE. You didn’t expect them to win yet here we are! It’s a song about a group of humans taking down the impossible with little to no hope but managing to do so anyway.
Anyway it’s a personal take and it may differ from people to people. Just finally can be at ease now that I figured out why won’t GSS hit me as hard as TotG. Ngl Apex of the World probably also hits me harder but it’s main theme feels more like it’s making you see the what ifs and nostalgia, which is nice and sad, but doesn’t really fit well with me not like with TotG
One "problem" with your comment is that GSS is Nemesis' theme.
FF & Pokémon will NEVER be good again it doesn’t really matter whose theme it is, as I am listening to these songs with a smidgen (sometimes even no) context. It’s about the first impressions. And that’s what got to me. “We’re gonna win” vs “We might win” makes a heap of difference in tone imo and like I said, it has its own different brilliant aspects. I just found out I happen to like the other one better.
Its late but the thing that wins TotG over Gss (and probably all other final maps) was because in TotG there is the slow build up near the end, where I would like to imagine in my head that Alm, Celica, and the group are struggling, like they are stuck they don't have hope anymore. Then I imagine Alm and Celica giving hope and courage, then leading to the end where it's going to be quiet-ish, which is when (in my mind) I think Alm just finished the job. Also the final battle quotes are what make it even more bad ass that it tells you basically "You've turned mad, there is no way we could worship you, with all your greed for power"
This is really fitting as a "last battle of a war" scenario. One of the best final map soundtracks
The Flowers of Enchantment version almost sounds like it belongs in TMS
What's TMS?

@@dotto2327 thanks
Fun fact that's where I thought it was from at first
As much as I want to love God Shattering star more than Twilight... I don't think I can lmao. God Shattering is amazing but in a different feeling way... Twilight of the gods was one of the only times a game made me feel somethin special. Also, final battle quotes not being in 3H takes it down a notch as well. Mathilda's, Forsyth's, and Boey's were absolutely amazing. Malthilda's in particular because she said "It certainly won't be YOU!" right when the beat dropped. 10/10
God Shattering Star is a great theme. Fitting for the theme of the battle.
Twilight of the Gods is literally a desperate rush, fighting to the death from the very first step. A mad dadh against God, fate and infinite enemies. Every step taken towards the final battle is earned. Its just so thematically beautiful especially because the fight matches the music so much.
GSS is great and all but the music doesnt match amazingly. Lyrics yes but overall no
best final map theme hands down, way too epic
What I would give to see the reaction of someone who played Gaiden when it first came out & going on to listen to 1:37 in-game...
Idk but somehow the original version from gaiden still sounds really good, especially since a lot of 8 bit songs can kinda of fall off, but it somehow managed to be extremely good, showing how an amazing this theme is from the very start, don't get me wrong though, I still think 8 bit music is dope, especially fire emblem tracks, just some kinda just miss for me
Man, it's so fucking wild how we went from disappointing to incredible in the span of several seconds from the Warriors version to the Flower of Enchantment version
Am I the only one who thinks THAT could've totally been the warriors version instead? Like I feel like it fits perfectly.
Shadows of Valentia’s art direction is amazing. It’s pretty clear that this game was something made out of love.
Okay, lets be honest with ourselves. The transition from the 25th ani to Echoes was pretty awesome
SoV's is pefection in musical form
"Who needs gods when you have me"
Rest in peace, Sayuri. Love all your song.
It's been almost 30 years and the original song still holds on.
That's how you do music, people, and all of this coming from a NES
The flower of enchantment version should have been a battle theme in warriors tbh. The actual warriors one (which is just something you kind hear on the map) is very underwhelming in my opinion.
Doesn't sound right without Alm
I think if it was an actual battle song, then the flower of enchantment would have been perfect for warriors
It's possible the Warriors version was made before Echoes'. Celica seemed like a very late addition to Warriors and most of her content, besides her outfit, draws from Gaiden more than Echoes.
Twilight of the Gods is the best Fire Emblem song ever
Even back in 8 bit this track makes me rock hard
I feel like part of why this song is great is because it literally feels like a twilight for the gods. A final, glorious send off to Duma, and the end of a war that wrecked a continent. At the end, it slows, leaving on a melancholy final note. The gods are dead, and Valentia must guide itself now.
(In the sov version.)
1:37 I wish this was in Smash Ultimate.
I’ve always be waiting for a smash remix of this
If we got Celica as an Echo Fighter of Robin, who's main differences could be slight changes in specials to match her in-game spells, and no durability mechanic, but perhaps inflicting some damage on herself when using specials like Pichu does, that would be the perfect excuse for a Smash Bros remix of this.
Pokéfan 744 Celica could be fast as Corrín
@@redead8513 And also have Marth/Lucina/Roy/Chrom's neutral air, referencing golden dagger's attack.
Speaking of golden dagger, I think an Echo of Robin is lackluster since she just has so much more to her. Tbh I'd want Celica to Robin as is Lucas to Ness. Keeping the same general feel, but completely revamping some of the kit(just some.)
Twilight of the gods is litterally what pushed me over that edge to play Fire Emblem.
Hearing it in various videos and later looking it up on youtube is why I now journey through all the games in the series.
My god Fire Emblem has such a marvelous soundtrack.
It's the violins in the beginning of the SoV version that just get to me every time
I love showing the Echoes version to anyone that plays piano. The reaction you get when the piano comes in full force is amazing.
This song and what lies at the end, man
God I love this song
Thank you so much for the effort of giving this masterpiece a proper historical overview. It is one of the most sublime pieces I've ever heard (ever).
I appreciate those transitions 👀
No one can make these songs so epic
And yet we still don't have official lyrics for the SoV version. Shame.
Man the flute and the choir hit different
Wow, the transitions are amazing!
I love watching things like this to see how pieces of music evolve, and this one is still fantastic. Amazing that an NES (iirc) game's music could translate to such a heavy, emotional track.
Technically Famicom, which was the Japanese equivalent to the NES.
@@paulchapman8023 Fair enough, didn't think about it never coming to America.
Wow this is so awesome! I love the way you put this together for us, thank you so much. I love these games and the music is just absolutely amazing
I swear I'm so glad I got to finish Echoes before accidentally brealing my 3ds 😂😭😭

How about this? They are both bangers in their own ways. Hell all of the Fire Emblem series as a whole are bangers in some way
3h tried its damn best, but this is just *better*
Yeah but 3H is easily second
@@lordofhostsappreciator3075 oh for *certain* it's second, no doubts there. full of amazing music
Fire emblem echoes was fun as hell
Nice!!!
MUSIC TO MY EARS~~~
im gay for this song
I can play this on the piano
Gaiden: that fine mixture of catchy yet epic that only 8-bit can pull off.
25th: classical music revamp.
Echoes: full blown opera reaching the final act.
Warriors: oh yeah, Warriors had Celica...and music.
FoE: sounds like it would be in TMS if it included more than just Shadow Dragon and Awakening.
What does the god say!🎶
Dog goes, Woof. 🎶
Cat goes, Meow. 🎶
And the god Duma goes, Bleehg. 🎶😂
This theme is literally the only reason i play echoes 😅
I really hope Alm comes to Super Smash Bros Ultimate Dlc as one of the Challenger Pack #10 or #11 next month at E3 2021. If not then maybe as a bonus character if Masahiro Sakurai wants to do it. Please God let it happen. 🙏😇
I wonder, have you ever done an evolution with the Trouble! Theme? Player map 5 Final map BGM by far is amazing, and one of my favorite tracks in all of fire emblem, however it would be cool to see Trouble have it's evolution
Yeah sure, let me add that in the poll in the next one
Does "Omen" Count?
You know, I think I made a huge mistake not including this. I'll be sure to add it when there's another Twilight of the Gods track in the future.
What is "Omen", may I ask?

What about heroes
There is no Heroes version of this track, it plays the SoV version in Heroes
Warriors one is straight up garbage, but then again, it's literally impossible to up perfection (Echoes version obviously).
It's probably also worth mentioning that the warriors track is much closer to being menu music than an actual battle track, because it only plays when you're on Celica's map picking which battle you want to fight next or managing your characters.
