I pay my yard man to cut the front yard of the empty house next door to keep our cul-de-sac looking nice. It helps him a little, it helps our neighborhood alot. Criminal activity happens in these locations and you make them visible to law enforcement and that stops squatters and drug activity. I would venture to say that they are equally important if not more important because you are making the entire neighborhood safe!
