Was a great day. Went to the local hobby shop and made the purchase of 2 new additions to our stable. Two sxc24's and had started building our own inside crawler station!

Seriously landys an gentleman.. get this rig now!! Idk if I got lucky but they've upgraded the esc an transmitter.. there's no whine from the electronics an the transmitter feels super nice an sleek... definitely recommend!
Its a loud rig but it moves around so nice. the body roll makes it look so realistic. what a nice looking rig.
it needs a nice ESC like the TEKIN BXR.. small, and quite, programmable.. and a better radio system so we can change the input values, like exponential

@@MagnusWaldemar You can not adjust the throttle curve the way you can with a proper radio setup.
I like how the tires are replicated from the real full size tires. I have a 1:18 HPI mini recon that thing is awesome.

Yea, the noises coming from the motor are awful - sounds like something (motor or esc) isn't happy. But I sure do love the rest of the truck. :-)
It's the gears you hear not the motor another rc guy put smaller gear on an the noise gets even louder
@@thingsofdoing4507 Yea, and the sound changes when the ESC get's swapped as well. It's a combination of the two. I actually suspect the ESC is operating at a lower frequency then most others (making the motor whine more noticeable).

Yeah that is a cool RC.
Really digging it, super nice detail. Only concern I have is the ESC. Not the noise so much, but the throttle finesse it offers. It looks like it doesn’t allow much modulation for fine crawling control. Hope I’m wrong with that assumption though. Also looks like it has worm drive? Kinda wished it had more freewheeling action when off throttle for descents.

That noise though! It didn't have much low speed control either.

It's the motor making the noise arcing between the commutator and brushes...

@@Chris-zu8ve the noise is caused by the escs signal, but comes out of the motor. The motor is in effect, an audio speaker.
My high end escs actually make musical tones through the motor when you turn it on.
It could mean something is wrong, but most of the time not. The escs manufacturer may need to update the esc firmware to quiet the noise, and if it's a budget system, it may not have been worth the money to go the extra step in programming.
When I bought my xmax for years ago it made all kinds of horrible noises the ESC was stuttering. I did the firmware update on the ESC, and it's been smooth and relatively quiet ever since.
My one friend has a crawler with an OutRunner motor in it. Now that thing is really really loud, and that's just the way the motor is built.
Your all wrong the noise you hear come from gears not esc or motor or or Fred waiting to say what she said
i would love to see some wpl stuff super cheap scale and very good with some upgrades they are tons of fun and 1/16 scale for around $50-$60

@@dereklyons6885 I’ve been driving tow trucks at a dirt track for about 10 years now. Never been an over the road tow truck driver. People like Matt’s towing are a great place to find pointers.
would you do a video going over the different ways manufacturers attach wheels to the car?
like the wltoys x pattern and the standard hex. its been confusing me for a while and I haven't been able to find any good videos on the subject.
That's super cool but it makes a lot of noise and it's almost as much as a 1/10 scale truck! In addition to that, I'd expect a bit more metal on there for something that pricey. Other than that though, the body and lights look sick and I love the tires and wheels!

Love the videos! I have the katana and its pretty sick. I also just got a cheaper version, pretty sure its the same body as katana. It is the EazyRc patriot. Might be a good option for someone that loves that katana body look but maybe a little too expensive. Anyway, would love to see a review or side by side comparison of these 2 great little trucks!

Is the scx24 c10 a great rc for beginners
Noise comes from ESC and hard body/interior amplify it. Changing ESC makes it more quiet.
No it don't gears are were sound emits from strip one down an get a hearing device
@@thingsofdoing4507 This high pitched sound does come from the ESC, thats why ESCs with PWM 16 kHz and up are silent, if set to this value (adults normally can only hear up to about 16 kHz, young people up to about 20).
You can easily test this: Simply push the throttle slowly. The car will not move (in the beginning), but you will already hear this annoying sound. Gears do not have to do anything with this sound.
Cheap ESCs have cheap switches for and therefore no high PWM frequency, and are therefore all loud (all those HobbyPlus, RocHobby, FMS, Amewi, Uruav etc. Micros do have the same TurboRacing electronic setup). Higher PWM frequency will cause more often switching in the ESC (on/off/on/off) and very fast switching can cause heat problems.
You can easily test this if you do have a Hobbywing 1080 at home. You can set PWM to 1 kHz, 2 kHz, 4 kHz, 8 kHz and 16 kHz - you will hear all frequencies, only 16 kHz not (if you are young or do have very good hearing capabilities you could hear it).
There are few ESCs which you can set to 16 kHz or up, for example also the Carisma ARC-2 (up to 32 kHz), or the small Modellbau-Regler ESCs (18 kHz).
Gear noise is a different story.
Donald is correct. The higher PWM quiets the motor. I'm running high PWM and my Katana is silent.

Nice, I've been eying this one, I have the WPL C54 shell coming but this Katana is sexy. Those tires would be sick on a 1/24.
I grabbed one on impulse from my local-ish hobby shop for $140. Fantastic deal at that price. They were carrying the 6x6 too for the same price. I am going to spend way too much money there as I was seeing deal after deal after deal. Also grabbed a licensed 1/24 scale '99 WRC Impreza for $130
Great looking RIG, Ya I found out by looking at rc plane parts that Roc Hobby is connected with FMS, like a sister company or something, in planes the difference is in the product styles from each company, but they are owned by Chinese parent corp.... kinda disheartening, but quality has been going up, along with the prices....
I wish Axial could've gone 1/18 on the SCX. It just looks way better. This Katana is pretty cool

I want to upgrade to a cooler wheel but a taller tire mostly for doing rock crawling, and mudding. I don't know if it's 5mm, 12mm, 17mm, or what? Thank you so much.

I agree the noise from the ESC is a little strange! It looks like it's lacking low speed control, but that could just be a matter of getting used to it. It really does look awesome, thanks for showing it to us!
I think people forget quickly that I drive 1 handed, and I am paying attention to narrating and filming AND driving something for the FIRST time. This defiantly impacts the throttle control input. :`)
Hey some cheap scale 1/16th scale rc's that I find absaloutely amazing are wpl rc cos they make hardbodys and have really soft tires and are crawlers for only about $30 each. Please can you buy one and give me your opinion (I would recommend the wpl c44) and how do they stack up to proper stuff because I can't afford nice stuff. Wpl rc .com or something like that.

This is the only crawler that I have and it has broken. I can hear the motor running but the driveshafts are not moving at all. I assume the gears inside the transmission have been chewed up or some gears have come out of place. I haven't taken it apart yet but just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem before I do. Is it worth trying to fix it or should I just save my money for my bigger 10 scale purchase next year? Also, if it is worth fixing, where do I find parts for this little thing?

Glad to see this side of the hobby expanding !! I'm a big SCX24 fan, Things I like about this , TURN signals ( and lights ). Love the scale look and the opening hood as well. I HATE the sound !!! We need small scale sound kits !! I put the D4L from Orandoo in my SCX24 Chevy C-10. It has a built in sound kit, and that works ok, but the esc is not as smooth or powerful as the original.
Katana attracts me a lot! may be some smoother dampers... !!!! very good upgrade on track. Like the woods.......what about some living woods?? Ciao!

Oh snap that’s cool! Man I love that truck. I do have the 1/18 Losi mini crawler it’s a great scale. Along with a couple of 1/24 Losi micro crawlers. Don’t think they make them anymore, but you talk about a capable 1/24 crawler!! I’d put those on your track in a second. All the best.👍
