    That’s so cool!
    I remember seeing a few of your videos several years back on bike touring. I didn’t realize that you fly fish too.

    Awesome to find someone else who loves biking and fly fishing. If you ever make it to Alaska look me up, we'll ride out and catch some trophy grayling on dry flies.

    I'm just starting out with fly fishing, 2 things on my list for backpacking trips; net (duh), and a small baggie for discarded tippet / trash.

    What waterproof backpack was that you were putting your chest pack in?

    I would add a net with a magnet retriever. Also polarized sun glasses, stringer, mint toothpaste to get the fish smell off your hands.

    A net and sunglasses.I guess you dont really need a net for small streams, but for trout over 10 inches, a net is really nice to have, especially if you plan to keep them for dinner. Polarized sunglasses, even cheap walmart ones, not only allow you to better see fish and structure in the water, but more importantly, it provides eye protection. If you're a beginning fly fisher, or throwing a new, heavier fly, you're gonna have a few casts where your back cast brings that fly scary close of your face. Not to mention trying to get unsnagged from weeds, trees and rocks that bring a fly coming back at ya at a very high speed.

    I am a fly fisher, if you love trout fishing you should always carry more leaders and bobbers for nymph fishing

    3 and 4x is like really big for trout, why do you use them and use the 5x for tenkara? 5 is perfect for trout

    • @PathLessPedaledTV
      @PathLessPedaledTV  5 років тому +1

      Because I fish streamers and nymphs with split shot and need the thicker tippet to turn over the junk. You can ONLY use 5x or 6x with Tenkara otherwise you’ll break the tip.

    I don't really think it's a must have, but after using a small net for a while it feels awkward to not have one when landing a fish.

      +adamgtrap Yeah we usually pack a net also. Still looking for a good portable one.

      I have seen some pretty nice folding nets, but they have all been very large for sport fishing from a boat. I have never come across a compact/folding net that was small enough to pack.
