What makes builds like this impressive is that they are solo. Where even a team of two is involved determination and morale is much harder than when solo. So building demands a different mindset. I’m not sure quite what but it is but it certainly requires mental resilience and stamina
Outstanding! The next video will be eagerly awaited to enjoy your successful build. I do hope you won't abandon this project part way and leave us disappointed. Beautiful location for peace and a meditative endeavor to strengthen your soul.
Thanks for watching. Sure, I won’t abandon the project in the middle. There were heavy snowfalls which disrupted my work. You will watch that in the next video. I will return as soon as the weather permits and complete it. Yes, the location is serene and one can feel so much close to the nature.
Nice work, I wasn't expecting you to hand dig a foundation, but there you have it. A testament to time! Looking forward to watching this build progress.
To be honest, hand digging the foundation was a bit difficult as the outer layer of the soil was frozen due to frost and freezing temperature. However, I lit a fire close by and carried out the digging eventually. More to come.

where do people get there land from. Shit people are building shelters right and damn left in this other country’s last time I herd most of the people who own land like this are very rich. Because the government of those countries don’t just let people build what they feel like building
Most beautiful part of the world. I was stationed there in the 70s. Black forest runs into the alps. 3 countries share that part of the world, a nature lovers paradise.
My husband and I own a tree service and at 58, I can still lift, roll or flip enormous logs and rounds across yards, up ramps and onto trucks. Been doing it for 20 years and I weigh 140. So many new young male employees would stand around with their hands in their pockets until they watched me get to work and put them to shame. They learned, or they quit! We're also cavers and spend a lot of time moving rock and dirt. It isn't difficult to move more than a ton in a day with just a few determined friends, some shovels and wheelbarrows. I'm always shocked how many people deny the power and ability of a single person to accomplish big projects. What do they do all day, sit on the couch playing video games? It's all attitude, determination, and creativity. Physical strength isn't nearly as important. Great video, inspiring!🙂
Thanks for your input. I second your thoughts on that. I find it difficult to understand why people don’t believe that a single person can build a shelter like this. Yeah, it’s easy to sit on a couch and criticise.
I think he most likely used a fulcrum and a lever and then just used various rocks etc to place it underneath the lifted side or something like that to raise the log to an upright position, but I would like to see his method for raising it by oneself just to learn. I truly enjoy what I have seen so far, as I am a carpenter of 25 + years and have done many projects both commercial and residential, but I have never had the opportunity to build a log structure, the closest I have come was one restaurant in Texas that was called the Alpine or something like that I don’t remember but I was only able to work on it for a couple days and then we had to start another project out of state which was disappointing. But I like what he has done so far and I will be watch for the next phase 😊
I stand logs vertically every fall. It is easy. I carry them to my truck that way. They are always just over 9 feet long and 24 inches or larger across. I even put some on my shoulder. Not a problem. I do not live in a city, so I have muscles.
This has got to be one of the most amazing and beautiful handmade bushcraft shelters I've ever seen. Very inspiring. Great job!!!! Highly impressive for one man to build just all by himself. I'm currently building something simular and it's taking me a pretty long time. I might be close to being finished in a couple years. LOL
Amazing how all of those perfectly cut giant logs happen to be laying about. Even more amazing is how they were suddenly standing upright in their proper positions!
I assume he built this on his own private property, not in the middle of a unclaimed area so the logs were already cut. He explained in his description that the logs were already cut and as for the rocks he built this near a died up riverbed with exposed rocks that's right next to his tent. It's a solo build, not zero tools.
I like the way you think, built the right way from the beginning to the end. Please keep the video's coming and best wishes to all your future endeavors...
at the spend he works it would take 24 years to complere the project. Also amazing g how everything he needs us close by and even pre cut logs of the perfect size he needs are laying around. not to mention how he managed to stand them up on his own
In the description he explains this took weeks of planning before he even begun building. This is on his own private property so he already had these logs pre-cut and the rocks were completely available due to the riverbeds near by being dried up.
I have watched several videos where the person built a stone shelter. This is the first one I've seen, in quite a long time where the "stone work" was done correctly. 99% of all the others were done totally wrong and will fail, if not already. NOT THIS TIME. Great work so far. I would use a bit skinnier logs, that's OK, it is your build, not mine. I will be looking forward to seeing more. ;-)
Thanks my friend for appreciating it. I tried to build it to the best of my potential and knowledge. I am hopeful I will complete it as soon as possible. More work has to be done.

This construction is not of a shelter, not of a hut, not of a cabin or not of a house. It’s more like a fortress in the middle of Black Forest 😊😊😊
