Using body motions are great for memory, I believe our cubs do hand over heart for 'as an American', a two handed waving in front of you for 'careful with fire', give a bow for 'considerate of the outdoors', and tapping on the forehead for 'conservation minded'
7 principals are slightly different for cub scouts and BSA scouts. And I figured out a way to help remember outdoor code. I’m going to *try* and make a video showing.
I have hand motion reminders for kids for the scout oath and law. We can zoom or facetime and I can demonstrate. Our dens are just getting out to explore nature this week. I'm sharing this video with all of them.
Does your Unit say the Outdoor Code at every meeting? What tips or tricks do you have to teach the Outdoor Code?
The 4Cs of the Outdoor Code: Clean, Careful, Considerate, Conservation.
@@truthandconsequences I like that! Thanks for sharing.
One way to remember the outdoor code is to right it down then bring it everywhere you go

Awesome idea of the hand use. Stealing for my groups.

Thanks!
thank you
Awesome!
Love this! Thank you so much for these tips. I'll be using this at our AOL Zoom meeting tonight talking about those topics.
Thank you and you're welcome! I hope your Webelos enjoy it! I know it has helped my Scouts at all levels.
@@SespeScouter I can see how it would work for all levels. FYI, this video was recommended to me by a fellow Cub Scout leader.
You've got an AWESOME cohost!
Ya, she's pretty ok.

What is embroidered on the brim of the hat?
It's from a branding iron from our local council camp. It's become a tradition for Webelos to brand their hat when they go to resident camp.
Each of the “C” words gets progressively longer;
Clean
Careful
Courteous
Conservation minded
And we say it as part of our opening ceremony.
Outdoor Code is always either part of our opening or closing as well. A other good point with the "C" words!
