@@maddmann it's reasonable if you think about it. You don't wanna be running through fighters like it's a race. It’s pretty standard for any live sports. Most governments don’t like foul language in the general media. So this is a way punish fighters and pay the possible fees for their language.
I've seen a live fight in California where a fighter got hit REALLY HARD, and got dropped in the first ten seconds of the fight. He was able to get up, but almost literally ran away from his opponent. It was the first and only time I've seen a ref call a match at TKO because he wouldn't engage the opponent.
@@allstarwoo4 also applies for the crowd sometimes. If fans coordinate to shout profane words or abusive langue. Like mexican soccer fans "used to do". That might have a repercussion on their team or athlete
No Foul language and no spitting are just sportsmanship rules. Timidity, Running Away, and Towel are just submissions. The first two are rarely enforced and people usually get plenty of warnings from the ref. Kalib Starnes running away from Nate Quarry is the most infamous case that was never called. Note that you can grab your own shorts. BJ Penn has used that technique. You can use it to defend against a Kimura.
I'd say spitting is more than just a sportsmanship thing. If someone spat in your eyes for instance, it'd give them a definite window where they've messed up your vision.
You're allowed to run away to disengage from a sticky situation, just not to avoid conflict. Running while you're not immediately in danger is when it becomes a foul.
Laughed my ass off RD:) Tho the throat kick revealed your 'opponent' has some serious training time under his belt, that looked entirely spontaneous, and obviously got YOUR attention:) if he had MEANT that in a real combat situation, I'm thinking you would've been instantly paralyzed or worse!, i.e. dead. Shao is obviously one helluva dangerous dude , to that point that If I had seen something like that back in my military days, I'd have instantly gone for distance while simultaneously drawing my weapon.

@PJ Rivera I bet! I've done some cheap moves against bigger opponents in my day, but I've never gone after anyone's groin or butthole. There's got to be a limit somewhere lol
There’s gold in everyone of your videos. 😂 love it. Because of you and others like you I’m going to add taekwondo to my Boxing and maybe one day I’ll get into a little jujitsu or judo.
The weirdest rule is not having day-of weigh-ins. Your chance of dying from the stupid cut is greater than any technique. My theory is it's all about promotional value, "This is really gonna happen!" But that could be replaced in 100 other ways.
Aw a poke to the eyes and spit to the nuts was always my best self-defence techniques. How will I win a fight without running away or insulting my opponent now nooooooooooo 😭😂 You're student are amazing Ramsey please if they're willing share more of them in videos in future. If not that's ok I love the content and will be here anyways 😂
I think Tank Abbott has been the reason for 4 or 5 of the rules they have today. I think he was the first one to show up with the MMA gloves as well and then everyone started doing it. Tank also got a thumb to the eye of a downed opponent as a "submission" outlawed as well as fish hooking and probably a few more. I would not be surprised if he was one of the first to knee a downed opponent in the head, do headbutts on the ground and a few other things. I seem to remember him getting a sub on a guy by placing his forehead on the throat of his downed opponent but I suspect that one is still legal? The guy was something else.
I saw an interview where he laughed about it and said that after each fight they'd tell him "Don't do that again! New rule!" so he'd just do something else and continue the circle.
Funny how glove grabbing was showcased less than 2 weeks after this video came out. The contributions Conor makes to the sport are immeasurable. Pioneering the glove- and cage-grabbing techniques, he's been a true force pushing the sport forward.
It is sad, but Conor Mcgregor was pulling at Khabib's gloves during their fight. Along with the shorts. He did it so often, Khabib asked him how much he got paid by Mcgregor. Edit: They asked Herb Dean how much.
Running away could definitely save you in a fight outside of a cage though. Also, I find it interesting that the timidity you showed looks almost like a stance from Keysi Fighting Method (I am not sure about its efficacy, but I just thought it was cool they looked similar). The spitting thing reminds me of a scene from an Alex Rider book, where the protagonist got kidnapped by a Southeast Asian gang and was forced into an arena against a Muay Thai fighter. He won by spitting his water into the guy's face, which gave him enough time to throw his own strikes and knock the guy out.
Grabbing the shorts can be a big help with takedowns. It can stop your opponent from turning or otherwise escaping :) Not that I've done it accidentally or anything, of course.
Now I want an underground illegal fighting ring, where they just do all these moves instead. Just people running around, spitting and swearing at each other, crawling up the cage walls, throwing towels at their opponents, jumping out of or throwing opponents in and out of the cage, yanking each other's clothes and gloves off and having extended dance-offs. All other moves are illegal now of course, no punching or kicking.
Hey coach, i was wondering... if you ever feel like it you should react to tekken 7 dragunov throws and grappling skills, i have a feeling you will enjoy it and it wont take to much time! Have a good day

Under many rulesets, "spiking" someone on the crown of their head is illegal. However, spiking is usually defined or at least accepted to mean to actually ELEVATE your opponent against his will then dropping him on the crown of his head. A DDTish move is usually fine as it doesn't really involve elevating, unless it was one of those half brain buster, half spike DDTs. Also if your opponent climbs on you and you drop to the ground and he ends up getting spiked on his head, that's legal. Basically you're not responsible for how he lands if he chose to elevate himself.
Ok, I gotta admit - I miss your previous assistant, the crazy canadian with the knife, can't remember his name unfortunately. But Shao is cool and funny in a different way.
