- Today we are driving around Chalkida City!
Chalkida is the capital of Euboea island, located about 80 km from Athens, and is built on both sides of the Strait of Euripos, where one part occupies part of the island of Euboea, while the other is built in Central Greece. On its continental side, on the hill of Kanithos, dominates the Ottoman castle of Karambaba, which, together with the Bridge of Euripus and the unique phenomenon of changing the direction of the waters, every six hours and in between (approximately) a ten minute stagnation (tide of Euripou), are its most important characteristics.
It has a rich ancient, medieval and modern history and is one of the most popular destinations for nearby excursions of the capital's residents and beyond.
