I used to go to every Pomona, even bought a car there in 2002. Now I work weekends. It's fun to watch these, and I appreciate hearing comments from someone who is knowledgeable. Subscribed, thanks.
greatings from steamy Bangkok, on hollidays, stacks of lowered customized cars, super high end builds here, and i will get my GMC steering wheel repaired and recovered i any leather i want. another Great show Mike and i hope your show keeps growing.Steve From Australua
I was there to find a finished 1928-1937 hot rod. There were almost no such hot rods there. A lot of them exist but the owners are just storing these cars until they die. This year's L.A. Roadster show (also held at the Pomona fairgrounds) was a shadow of itself and didn't even both to run thru Sunday. Based on the attendees at the Roadster Show, it appeared that 5% to 10% of them would not be back next year due to age-related mobility issues or death. I'm not sure what's going to happen to all their cars...hot rods are fun to look at but take an enormous amount of maintenance, especially if built by an amateur. At 71 yo, I am on the tail end of the early-Ford hot rod generation.
I’ve been seeing many hot rods built in the seventies through the nineties popping up at these swap meets and even estate sales after their long time owners pass. Most younger hot toddlers want more fifties style traditional rods. Not sure what that’ll mean for these cars.
Most of these guys are nuts. For the money they’re asking they should all be able to be driven home. The 64’ Galaxy for 22k seemed almost fair. You’d be buying a run of the mill little Toyota Carolla for that money if you bought a newer car. Up loud or down low, all that music sounds like crap. Everybody is under the impression everything is a classic and no matter what piece of crap condition it’s in it’s worth hard earned money. I get loons thinking my 02 Ford Ranger will be a classic and worth money some day. Anyway. I haven’t been to that swap meet in decades. When you say Long Beach I’m guessing Vet Stadium. Use to have a good swap meet there once a month too. Looked like a good day for a walk around and see some interesting things. Local to HB?
Thanks for your time and effort
My pleasure
That 1930 chevy truck. OMG. Amazing
