Dr. I'Anson, thank you for this information. I've been in radio since I was 15 and will be 61 on my next birthday. I've done radio and VO at the local and network level. I'm now enjoying being away from radio and doing voice over for radio and TV, and narrating audio books. I'm not the "best voice" there is, and I freely admit it, but I've been approached by folks who want me to do their audio books. I've always wondered why. The section where you talk about putting your body into it is spot on. People make fun of me for "directing my voice". They say I look like a church choir director moving my hands when I speak. I also make those facial expressions you talk about. Yes, I've been laughed at for it, but I also think it really works! I saw a video of Joe Cipriano (voice of Fox) doing his thing. Yep, he waves his hands too! All of what you said was great advice. I've heard you on NPR and totally cast you wrong. I figured you as a baby-faced, pudgy white guy who has this perpetual smile on his face and mussed up hair. Just like what happened to me one time making a personal appearance, a lady walked up to me, gave me the once over and said "Oh, THATS what you look like"! Be well, my friend. Thanks again for the info.

I like his natural speaking voice 100 times better than his radio voice. Such a cool person with either voice.
