BitWarden Send allow you to share a password (or a note) with anybody as a link. You can limit how many time it can be seen or for how long. It can be reached with the send button in the interface ( both app or web). Maybe this is the answer to one of your points against BitWarden.
His video literally has the send button visible on the screen... so it's not like that is a new feature since this video came out. I loved the majority of this video, until I saw him mistaken on Bitwarden's features. Now I'm like.... what is he missing from the other providers? Unrelated.. I trialed Keeper a couple years ago. Thanks for the chart. Three major factors for me are the following deal-makers. 1. Customer service - fast, efficient and personalized (i.e. by phone or chat) 2. Customizable categories, ideally with choice of icons and colours. I am not technically-inclined. All I need is a digital version of a locked diary.
Good review, but you are missing some important points that i consider to be deciding factors. 1- Breach reports: Does it include ALL emails in the logins, or only the email in which you registered the account with the password manager? Lastpass reports all emails (personally i use multiple emails for login, and i think a lot of people do). Using only the email registered in the password manager kind of kills the point for me. 2- Can you search by password instead of by login? sometimes i need to search for a specific password, especially if there was a breach to see if it was reused somewhere else. In onepassword i can type the password in the search field, in nordpass for example, i can't. 3- There are other features like, autochange password (i dont remember which one had it, i think keeper), which are handy but not mentioned. 4- Wether they are open source or not (i think only bitwarden is). 5- Wether there is an alert every time you log in or not (nordpass does not alert you). Especially point #1 and #5 are super important for me. Cheers and keep up the good work!
I used Lastpass for years and switched to Bitwarden very recently but now ended up with KeyPassXC. The problem with all the pass managers out there which seem pretty easy for usage is that they all (or most of them) use the PBKDF2 algo, which is as of today old and probably not very safe anymore (todays GPU's could crack it relatively easy in time). I switched to KeyPassXC which uses Argon2. Needs some more time to set it all up as you need a external cloud if you want to use it with your smartphone. But I feel more secure into the future. BTW KeyPassXC is free and opensource
Thanks for sharing the recommendation. I'll look into this! So this is kind of like an offline password manager - or self hosted password manager if you had a NAS at home?
@@AndySomething yes exactly. The database file is encrypted (full encrypted, not like lastpass which only encrypts user and pw fields…). Hi. In Bitwarden you can use both algorithms. For them, you must access your vault on the web, and in security/passwords you will find the option. Greetings and blessings
Hi, recently I started using Nordpass for my company because of its easy to use UI. I saw you mentioned that it doesnt provide MFA, but at least now it does for logging in! For me that was a must have!
Superb review! You covered the points that matter and did it concisely! One of my requirements has been the ability to store attachments like pictures, etc. LP has that, but the interface is basic. I used MyKi until they deprecated the app but it was a great app and I loved it. In your review, I briefly saw Keeper offering the attachments feature and it appeared to be better than what LP offers. Thank you for the great review. Subscribed!
But he never said anything about the security of the other companies. After watching this video I have no reason to believe LastPass security is any worse than its competitors.
Disclaimer - within reason I am not at all price-sensitive when it comes to the price of my password manager (and also my backup software) since I view those two as such critical functionality. $30 a year or $60 a year really is neither here nor there for me when the security of all of my online banking and other critical sites are concerned so I chose solely on the basis of features rather than cost. On that basis it was Keeper that I chose now that I’ve ditched LastPass after its latest security breach. What made Keeper stand out for me was the security. Yes, every reputable password manager encrypts the vault with AES-256 but what I like about keeper is that a vault is not a single encrypted blob all encrypted using the same key, rather each record in a user’s vault is encrypted individually using a different random AES key. Also, as another minor point that I think shows the difference in attitude between LastPass and Keeper, LastPass was happy to leave old users with their accounts set to only do 5,000 PBKDF2 iterations when many experts now recommend a minimum of 300,000. Keeper’s default is 1,000,000 iterations. I know that many people will perfectly reasonably say that a single AES-256 key for the vault with 300,000 PBKDF2 iterations on the master password is more than sufficient but when it comes to the security of my passwords, especially after this LastPass breach, I find total overkill quite reassuring.
I was a Lastpass user for 2 years. But at the end of 2022, I tried many of the popular password managers. From there I have stuck with Bitwarden. Man, I am super happy with Bitwarden. Like it has everything that a password manager need in the free plan. And the premium plan add more functions but I will say, it more over to support the company rather than the features. Becdause the free plan has all the things. Also regarding the design, Bitwarden recently done a full UX/UI r3edesign. And I gotta admit it looks dammnn good.
Great video, but Lastpass DOES support custom fields (although it's not obvious in the app - when editing an entry, click the spanner icon in the 'Edit Password' dialog). I am Lastpass user, who is thinking of switching after this security breach. Many of the password manager companies have been hacked in some way, but allowing employees such easy access to customer vaults is disgraceful - internal networks should be air-gapped from production systems given the sensitivity of the data they contain. I've been trying 1Password, but there are inconsistencies between the desktop app. browser extension and web app. Such as adding custom fields, or deleting entries, I still think Lastpass front-end is better than 1Password - because of this.
I like 1Password the best and have been using it for two years. It’s well worth the money and works across all my Windows, Mac, Linux & iOS/iPadOS devices. I’ve had LastPass at my two most recent jobs and find it so clunky!
Thank you for the great review on password managers. Do you know if it's possible to add multiple Gmail accounts to Bitwarden so they will auto-fill when logging in? Thanks a lot. :-)
I'm in the market to research the new advancements in the password manager tech. Good review! But you mentioned that RoboForm does not offer Custom Fields. Well, RoboForm has the option to add Custom Fields, albeit in a geeky way. It's been there since a long time. By the way, as a long-time RoboForm user, I like its feature of offering form-filling in Windows dialog boxes (like offering to auto-fill PDF passwords). Is there any other password manager that provides the Windows form-filling feature?
Thank you very much for this in-depth feature comparison of 7 major password managers. I'm looking for a new one and stuck between 1Password and BitWarden. It looks like the features where 1Password excels are the areas in which I have the least need but both are viable options.
Great video just on time. I've been using LastPass for about 4 years and after their data breaches am thinking of switching to another password manager. Is it possible to import my LastPass vault to another password manager? Thank you. 👍
Every password manager in this video has auto fill. They all seem more or less the same in function, so I'm not sure one is better than another for that feature.
thanks the best password manager for sure has to be bitwarden I've been thinking about using one for awhile and now that i am the perfect choice is bitwarden because security should be free not paid
What about the password managers from one of the big 3? (Google? Microsoft authenticator? Apple?) After being disappointed by lastpass loosing my vault.. I'm looking for something else.. and the big 3, seem to have the budget and motivation to do it right.
one thing you forgot to test is the customer service/support. This is also very important. I found this lacking in almost every product, in fact even the pre-sales was rubbish and took a lot of effort and chasing to get answers. I ended up going for Bitwarden, it had all the features I needed, and the support was more responsive than the others, plus the cheapest as well. The real downside of Bitwarden is the interface, its so basic and not very intuitive and I think people who are rubbish with computers and non technical would struggle with it. Its definately more for IT people. The sharing aspect is also a bit weird compared to others. Basically, you have a personal vault for your own stuff that is not shared with anyone, and an organization vault for sharing with your company, this includes the family plan, which is just an organization. This means you cannot separate your personal and work passwords into different vaults, unless you have multiple accounts. If you want to manage clients passwords, just create an Organization for them.
Because last pass was hacked I switched to bitwarden. I love it, It fixes all the things that frustrated me about last pass. Also I signed up original with last pass in 2017. I did try 1password but didn't like it but forgot why. One big issue is I lost the key that you have to have to log in, I do not think that was why I didn't like it though as I lost that after I found I didn't like it. Also I do not share passwords so that feature is not needed. never used it with last pass. However looking at my bitwarden app I see a send option and looks like I can send to anyone. Then again I am using the pay version.
I use KeePass. Have for years. No security breaches to worry about and you can sync across devices using any cloud service and carry your database around on a flash drive. Yea the UI is not for beginners, but who the heck shares passwords anyway? NOT ME!
I tried 1Password Family for myself+wife. I found a problem with the design. You cannot share the same Chrome session (eg share bookmarks etc) as another user. You have to come right out and start a new session to log on as a different 1Password user. No such constraints with Bitwarden (nor with the now-disgraced Lastpass). The 1Password interface is otherwise far more sophisticated, as is their implementation of autofill. But I'm living with Bitwarden for the time being.
Is there one with folder organization, file attachment on all kinds of records, windows hello support on the browser extension, and great form fill? Like a Keeper with Roboform level form fill and browser hello integration? Or Bitwarden premium with Roboform level form fill?
Thanks for the info! Have you ever heard of Passpack? I have been using it for a number of years and I am used to it, but I wonder how it stacks up against these?
Hey dude thanks for the video. I'm surprised you haven't gone more into the actual security behind each. Why LP sucks and why 1Password is way better due to it requiring another key to open vault which only you have. Maybe worth it. Feels like just a GUI review and not a "how secure is this review"
This is great feedback, and I’d like to emphasize security more in my next comparison. You should check out my latest video where I did cover security on LastPass vs. 1Password.

never understood handing your key vault to a 3rd party for safe keeping. been using KeepassXC and its database never leaves or gets stored in unencrypted data medium. might use BitWarden on a self-hosted machine.. other than that, any service that requires the database to be stored on a remote machine is not for me.. :/
You criticized LastPass for security issues, but never talked at all about any security features of the others (e.g. encryption algorithms). Other than not having any publicly known breaches, what makes their security better? Luck? Despite its recent "breaches" there is no evidence that any user vaults were compromised. To me, that speaks volumes about the real security infrastructure at LastPass. Most of the media coverage of the LastPass breaches has been driven by its competitors who obviously want to present the worst possible interpretation of the recent events. I use a very long and complex Master Password for my LastPass account and am not horribly concerned about the potential that my vault could be compromised. If a password manager is going to impress me today, they better be working on encryption methods that make the data safe/r from quantum computer attacks.
BitWarden keeps locking after I close browser and I need to re-enter my master password. This is annoying. Is there a way how to prevent that from happening?
I use bitwarden because myki was discontinued and lastpass you can use only one device... As a private costumer I would not pay more than 10 Euros per year for a password manager.
@@patrick1992 The now pinned comment seems to address that this actually a feature of BitWarden: "BitWarden Send allow you to share a password (or a note) with anybody as a link. Maybe this is the answer to one of your points against BitWarden."
I’ll be happy to be your password manager. Just send them to me, and I’ll keep them safe. Whenever you need any of your passwords, just give me a call, and I’ll send it you as quickly as possible.
Craylor, I just changed my domain under settings to a domain I wanted it to switch to for my website and now every time i go to a page on the website i just created or try to login to it, it just says page not found. I can't use the Wordpress dashboard without it popping up. what is wrong?!!
i have very little trust in nord pass. They advertise just too aggressively and are spending a lot of money for advertisements. this is giving me doubts about their goodwill. either there is a party behind that seeks gaining more control about many users data (VPN plus passwords) or a company that tries to eliminate competition and get a monopoly they can abuse later. in both cases me - the user - has to pay the price in the end.
No KeePassXC? SMH.... Great video though, Password managers are great. I do like having my stuff readily available with a MasterPass and being able to have it synced to my Phone and My other computers. I wish I knew about it a while ago, but after getting Everything set up and Just going through the basics I feel much more secure about my online logins. Keepass has a nice PW generator as well for passphrase or encrypted key which is very useful. I been using that for all my new accounts. Shows all the accounts that have the same passwords, the strength of the passwords and even downloads the icon's of the site you have an account on.
LastPass got hacked again and i think people must not review it anymore. EnPass, Bitwarden, Roboform are best options to go for. I have been using roboform 3 since last 8 years and now i moved to bitwarden and enpass not because roboform is not good but to shrink my budget for password manager. Otherwise Roboform is on my top priority list.
Agree, RoboForm is very good, been using it for 12 years and have just in the last 3 months tried Bitwarden pro to see how it compares and I have to say its still takes the cake over Bitwarden
Right, because 3 competitors would all sponsor the same video. That’s not how it works friend 😂 this video is not sponsored, but I have affiliate links to everything - including LastPass.
I just moved away from LastPass, and I really miss some of its functionalities. I have about 100+ different logins for a website consisting of 4 different domains. With LastPass, I just need to add all the 4 domains into the configuration, allowing the logins to be applicable for all. It's a one step action. In 1Password which I've newly subscribed, yes, each login can be added with multiple urls it's supported, and that's the only way. To support all four domains for all 100+ logins I have, I have to enter each URL manually, total of 100*4 = 400 steps. 🥲 Other than this, 1Password is very potential, loving it's simplicity. It has CLI allowing little scripting for coded actions. But the CLI features are still growing, not every use cases are covered at this point of time. And most importantly, I think it has our passwords protected in the most secured way!

I'm already using Bitwarden
In your opinion, which one has the best mobile app?
Exactly!!
This is the comment I’m looking for
The complication is driven by competitors, LastPass encryption is the best and they don’t talk about it
What happens when the cloud Falls ? My database Falls... So, thanks, I Will keep It local and synch It myself.
Self Hosted Bitwarden.
How come Enpass is not on the list?
BitWarden keeps locking after I close browser and I need to re-enter my master password. This is annoying. Is there a way how to prevent that from happening?
Yes, you can setup tresor time out in settings, also you can setup to login with simple pin or biometry like fingerprint
I use bitwarden because myki was discontinued and lastpass you can use only one device... As a private costumer I would not pay more than 10 Euros per year for a password manager.
Can’t go wrong with BitWarden
@@Craylor yes but I have to say they need to improve the sharing option that I can share the password easier
@@patrick1992 The now pinned comment seems to address that this actually a feature of BitWarden:
"BitWarden Send allow you to share a password (or a note) with anybody as a link. You can limit how many time it can be seen or for how long.
It can be reached with the send button in the interface ( both app or web).
Maybe this is the answer to one of your points against BitWarden."
I was looking for this LOL
Convenient timing 😂
Maybe you should develop an app that has all the features you like
what with KeePass?
I’ll be happy to be your password manager.
Just send them to me, and I’ll keep them safe.
Whenever you need any of your passwords, just give me a call, and I’ll send it you as quickly as possible.
Craylor,
I just changed my domain under settings to a domain I wanted it to switch to for my website and now every time i go to a page on the website i just created or try to login to it, it just says page not found. I can't use the Wordpress dashboard without it popping up. what is wrong?!!
Can't you create your own password?
What about sophos for mobile
Have you heard about Passbolt?
i have very little trust in nord pass.
If you ask me ENPASS is winner!
BITWARDEN is VERY VERY GOOD
How about best antivirus in 2023
Keepass.
All the features. None of the cost.
Security & Convenience DO NOT go together.
Enpass.
👍
write it down in a notebook ez clap
Just want to suggest you dumb down descriptions to accommodate a wider audience. Example: instead of saying "domain or URL" just say "website".
How can u endorse 1password when they got hacked twice already 😂😂😂
keepass xc
1password is getting horrible reviews on Android, especially on tablets with 1password 8 version. Complicates decision.
Lastpass is bad... really bad. They have lots of failures and leaks in the past years. That is total crap!
I recommend Dashlane using for over 2 years now love it, extremely secure
I switched from Dashlane because they stopped supporting the Desktop client.
Bitwarden for me. You can share with Send. $10 is a small price to pay for the extra features others charge triple for.
ME.
*sponsored by nordpass, bitwarden and 1password* , all at once!
This is why you don't trust YT reviews, simple.
Other than this, 1Password is very potential, loving it's simplicity. It has CLI allowing little scripting for coded actions. But the CLI features are still growing, not every use cases are covered at this point of time. And most importantly, I think it has our passwords protected in the most secured way!
