Richard Dean Anderson's suggestion to change O'Neil from a serious all the time to a smart ass half the time is what help Stargate: SG-1 to its success.
Absolutely correct, the Cinema-O´Neil was nothing that could have worked for more then a few films before the character would have been just tooo raw to anchor deeper storys on him. What RDA and the people behind the camera made out of him was a human beeing and not one of the last examples of a 1980´s like super hard ass hero-figure. The original was too much John McClane (not that it don´t like Die Hard, in fact i love it, but it´s just not tv-show material). RDA´s version had options to evolve the character and he did, he learned, he made mistakes, and he was able to do something i wouldn´t think the original version would have been able to: Play safe and get the hell out when there came too many signs into existence that a situation will go downside. How many times did they stop a mission to come back at a later date with the right tools to do the job? In short: RDA gave O`Neill a soul, Kurt Russels version was nice for a film, but in retrospective it was nothing short of a deeply flawed and short lived prototype.
@@ancientearth2250 Yeah, there aren´t so many characters out there anymore that were build up like that by their actors. I really hope this comes back someday. Hopefully even with a new stargate-show. RDA is too old now, but there are a lot of known figures with the potential to become good successors to his O`Neill, damn i would even like to get Ben Browder / Mitchell back since i rewatched the whole show. Yes, he was no O`Neill, Sheppard was much closer to him, but he did a good job. He wasn´t a copy of an old Character, but his own new thing and that has to be when it has to work out in a good way.
@@joesheridan95 You could even explain it as he started using humor as a coping mechanism after being so depressed after losing his son, and it kinda stuck.
@@zeehero7280 That's a very good point. Really. That was a character changing event and that point could explain the character shift in the time between him commimg back the first time and the start of the show. He had time to think about his son, his wife was gone and he had seen how petty us humans are and that the world was to complicated for his raw handling from before. 2-3 years are enough time to have a shift in you character i think.
No see, Daniel was right to be pissed. You don't move artifacts from a dig site until WHERE, or more importantly where in relation to other artifacts, they were found has been catalogued.
No see, soldiers don't know much about the proceedings of an archeological dig or their significance. Good ol Jack was just trying to keep the poor boy from breaking down. They didn't know Daniel!
@RubiiX not to mention you don't know what kind of artifacts are the "you touchy you splodey" kind, or the kind that will warp your DNA or cause permanent random intermittent eyelid twitching...
this killed me. I laughed so hard my sister came running in because she thought I was dying or something. the best are "yes jack, I'm fast asleep", "Daniel, go to your happy place", "did I just say 'all I know'?", "clear the room. I want no witnesses", and "no more beer for you"
i like the episodes with daniel and the unas. daniel always seems to make friends with the people or aliens who kidnap him or hold him hostage. no wonder hes hot... and totaly the best charector.
I love Jack's facial expressions when he says "honest" and "The fact is, and this is the fun part, we actually came to save your ASS.......ses.... all your asses" wwww super hilarious XD
"Oh please, Teal'c is one of the deepest people i know. I mean he's SO deep. Go on and tell him how deep you are. You will be lucky if you UNDERSTAND this" "My depth is immaterial to this conversation" "OWWW YOU SEE" "No more beer for you" (The clip doesnt show it but right after that it shows Daniel having like this weird look on his face, like saying "no, dont take away my beer and orange")
I always thought that Skaara in the first Stargate Movie and Skaara in the show was so alike. I looked it up and found that it actually IS the same actor! Alexis Cruz.
I genuinely loved the few scenes both characters shared. I would have *paid* to have kept Jonas even after Daniel came back. Outside of the core SG-1 cast, Jonas is one of my top favorite characters in the whole franchise. He's only beaten out by the Doctor from SGA that died due to the Tumor Bomb (as much as I love the character I can never remember his name), Michael (the half Wraith), and Eli (but only in the last couple episodes of SGU, he was just as much of a dick as everyone else before that)
I Absoloutly LOVE IT when Jack said "No more beer for you" That just KILLS me with laughter(pretty much the whole scene does actually: except @ the really sad parts)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Theres a great convo. between Daniel and McKay in Season 5 of Atlantis where they're in Janus' secret lab: McKay: Isn't it just fun? Saving the world and stuff? Daniel: Yeah, it is. McKay: But it isn't why we joined up is it? Daniel: No! We did it for the money! McKay: Wait. You don't make more then me do you? Daniel: -eye roll- (Not sure if i got it right)
at 2:30 something. its hilariou when daniel runs to his lab for a piece of paper and the repoter and camera man follow him and theure like "well how come you were running?" "hat? oh yeah i was running to see if you would follow me." hilarious
It makes me picture Spock pulling the same trick. "I was attempting to ascertain whether a spontaneous display of urgent haste, even without context, would prompt you into pursuit."
Honey Weed Daniel leaves at the end of season 5 and come back at the first episode of season 7. I believe he may have taken a few episodes off later on in the series but from season 7 to the end he is regularly playing in episodes.

altered scene: Sam: the clue for 7 down is "Celestial Body- he wrote Uma Thurmond" Daniel: Ok...he got that one right... Jack and Daniel: (BIG knowing grin)...
"Why were you running"
Daniel "I just wanted to see if you would chase me"
😁 I love it

Carter "The clue for seven down is Celestial Body and he wrote Uma Thurman", Jack "Yes"...priceless
Yes - Priceless is exactly right! LOLOL.
Aww she's so dame hot good choice jack
He's not wrong...
I love Jack's "Following you, still not." 🤣🤣🤣
In deed.
"No, but he plays one on TV"
Take that fourth wall! Those jokes are always the best on this show.

Channeling his inner Yoda. ;-)
Daniel: Sphere, Planet, Label, Name
Jack: Following, Still, You, Not LOL!!!
One of my favorites ❤
"Oh I just wanted to see if you chase
me"
That's gold
I just wanted to see if you'd chase me hahaha
"Everyone turn around. I don't want there to be any witnesses." I swear I'm going to steal that one.
"Daniel, go to your happy place." One of my favorite lines of the series....and favorite lines are numerous in this absolute gem of a series.
"Fire away. I hope shots of my ass serve you well." LOL
rtyerh trjrje
Well, he's got a nice one. ;-)
I love Daniel's mildly drunk conversation about Teal'c depth during the 5:07 moment
Daniel can mouth off to Jack because he's a civilian, no uniform and/or rank, no orders. Daniel's tax dollars are paying for that program too.
Yes but it also helps that they are all friends so they all feel comfortable round each other to be playfully cheeky round the other lol
true.
Not like Jack or Sam being in the military pay taxes or anything
Actually they are good friends and Daniel has saved Jack multiple times
If Daniel is paid by the military, he's paid by tax dollars too
I really miss this show and Atlantis
These two were the best part of the show. So pleased that their relationship carried over from the movie.

Stargate sg-1 is one of the greatest tv shows ever.
'No more beer for you.' lol
Ah, the 7th season! The season the producers came to their senses and brought back Daniel Jackson. Sorry, Jonas Quinn, but nobody can replace Daniel.
I genuinely loved the few scenes both characters shared. I would have *paid* to have kept Jonas even after Daniel came back. haha god i love stargate. such underated actors. So happy for christopher judge getting the role of kratos in the huge god of war game too

OHHH! SEE?!
No more beer for you!
This vid makes me want to watch through all the season again.
I learned it's not such a good idea to be watching this at work. I burst out laughing at this part.
So many memories watching this.
Grew up watching Stargate .
"IT'S FASCINATING"
I Absoloutly LOVE IT when Jack said "No more beer for you" That just KILLS me with laughter(pretty much the whole scene does actually: except @ the really sad parts)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Daniel and Jack banter back and forth is funny as hell when your really into the show plus Jack is fucking MacGyver
It's 2020 and I'm thankful for reruns. Three back-to-back episodes five nights a week...
I also think Uma Thurman has a celestial body ;)
Great show one of the best
Jack's such a boss, and Daniel's so cute! ^_^
I love drunk Daniel, adooorable !
The best is " jes Jack i'm fast as sleep
*Yes *asleep. :-B
Holy crap! Never noticed that before. Entire perception of life changed!

Love the one between Jack and that rat Kinsey, probably the only time they were frank with each other
Daniel still wondering if he'll ever get paid. Of course...
I just wantes to see if you'd chase me.
Following still you not!
The perfect anagoly. Burns as Goa'uld!

Terrific video - especially on a first try. Very well done!
miss this series wish there were more episodes
I always felt like Daniel was the best at being funny. Jack was second best.
I think Jack and Daniel were always past when they played off eachother
“I’m all about helping people.” Dammit Jack.
My depth is immaterial to this conversation.
Christopher Judge's ability to keep a straight face ....
That was a great compilation! Thanks for posting! :)
It was never the same without Jack. He brought some normalcy to the show, while everyone else was always too polite, and too professional.
Jack was channeling Han Solo at 6:43
“Daniel” “Daniel, you sleeping yet?” “Yes Jack, I’m fast asleep.”
''...we are come to save your ass... all your asses...'' love the video
1:50 haha daniel!
lol i just wanted to see if you would chase me. oh dany boy
I could watch Stargate all day.
"That's fascinating." 😁 Daniel is related to Mr. Spock.
It makes me picture Spock pulling the same trick.
"I was attempting to ascertain whether a spontaneous display of urgent haste, even without context, would prompt you into pursuit."
Aww you cut out Sam's snort at 1:23
"oh god..."
What episode is that?
It's Elias from Person Of Interest !
Honey Weed
Daniel leaves at the end of season 5 and come back at the first episode of season 7. I believe he may have taken a few episodes off later on in the series but from season 7 to the end he is regularly playing in episodes.
0:07 OMG THATS SGT. GREG PARKER FROM FLASHPOINT!!! :D
i love Stargate it is my fav show
"...we get paid for this, right?"
It's Harold from Red Green! :D
Yep. Still nerdy but in a cute way!
I can't help but notice that Jack didn't answer Daniel's question there at the end.
Jack plans on beating Daniel to a pulp. If there are witnesses, he's in serious trouble. BUT if they turn away, they're not lying when they say "We saw nothing, General Hammond."
Then Jack can "get away with it" so to speak. :)
Love the film crew one
Outstanding. Please create more!
Love this! "Following, still, you, not!! :D
The guy in 3:42 is "an idiot wrapped in a moron" to quote Ray Barone(Ray Romano) in Everybody Loves Raymond. LOL!
It's really funny to split Mike Shank's time between hopeless nerd and his zoolander phase.
5:57, he must've had that prepared. I hope he did, so he can give it again.
Thanks. I really miss this show. He is Jaffa... No, but he plays one on t.v. Ha ha
The fact that the cia guy didn’t question a literal zombie is mildly concerning
I liked him, sad he itsn't in any other episodes. Imagine Jack, him and Maybourne
Daniel, go to your happy place.
LOL
what episode is that from anyway? P.S. I love that part so much!!!
5:10 is the best scene in the world!!
7:02. 😁
Very first clip we have Enrico Colantoni. That's when I knew this would be a good vid.
we get paid for this, right? :-D
Stargate really Awesome
I totally forgot how similar the episode O’Neil starts speaking an alien language is to a ds9 episode
The episode is called Enemy mine. It's the seventh episode of season seven.
the end lines are the best clip.
you forgot the best one
Sergeant Bridges: Vy sovetskih shpionov?
Dr. Daniel Jackson: Nyet.
Jack O'Neill: Daniel?
Dr. Daniel Jackson: He just asked if we were Soviet spies, I just...
Sergeant Bridges: Come with me.
Jack O'Neill: Sure. You bet.
Jack O'Neill: "Nyet"?
1BigBen Yes, but that was in season 2. This clip is all about season 7! ;)
1:50 to 2:40 Warehouse 13 agents would have a fuckin' FIELD DAY in SGC.
season 7&8 were easily the best
"no more beer for you"
Atomic weight of boron, it should be 'ten', he's written 'fat'
1:17
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Jack dude😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
All the best shows are cancelled, every year they get dumber and down right silly, to many reality shows.....ugh!!!!
Indeed
Daniel, go to your happy place. :D
altered scene:
Sam: the clue for 7 down is "Celestial Body- he wrote Uma Thurmond"
Daniel: Ok...he got that one right...
Jack and Daniel: (BIG knowing grin)...
THURMAN, you heathen! -.-
Huh, it took the title of this video to make me notice the silent nod to "jack daniel's"... :">
