@@hre2044 Heilung is based off of European and Northern European culture. Heilung as a band, label themselves as "Amplified history.". Their lyrics are based off of artifacts and archeological records found from the iron age, vendel period, and viking age - which is why they are clad in European, Northern European, and pagan symbols.

Gwyn was a little bitch and did not want that to occur, so he sacrificed himself to prolong the Age of Fire. When this happened, he cursed all Undead and linked them to the bonfire which would lead them to the First Flame. If they strayed from their "chosen path" they would become hollow and turn insane. To make this a believable tale, he had Kingseeker Frampt (Dark Souls 1) tell a made-up story of how the Chosen Undea needs to succeed Gwyn and light the First Flame to continue the Age of Fire or else the world would be overcome by darkness and disarray.
The Age of Dark gave birth to the Abyss. The Abyss was not necessarily a bad place from the start. I believe it did not exist at first? I don't remember much of the lore, but SOMETHING had happened which brought forth the Abyss, along with all those creatures and alongside that, Manus. The Age of Dark is considered to be something of impurity. It's not like that at all! It only happens when the process of birth is rushed and tweaked through ineffective methods. The Age of Dark is as helpful as it is destructive. Something Gwyn had feared.
In truth, the Age of Dark (Age of Man) was to come after the Age of Fire, just as the Age of Fire had come after the Age of Ancients (everlasting dragons and stuff). As mentioned above, Gwyn was a little bitch and didn't want to lose the reign of gods to such beings (humanity), hence the Undead curse. That's why every Undead has a Darksign upon birth. It is their curse mark, and they cannot get rid of it. The Bonfire is their safe haven that always leads to the First Flame thanks to the curse Gwyn set upon them. They are literally forced to sacrifice themselves to continue the Age of Fire or else they go hollow and turn insane. Every Dark Souls game has a Chosen Undead that can decide to link the First Flame or bring forth the Age of Dark. Unfortunately, continuing the Age of Fire is the canon ending.
You are right, though! It cannot get any darker than that. Also, side note: Any Undead that links the First Flame and survives becomes a Lord of Cinder.

@Lord Kekistan better for the devs to release on Epic. Quit being a baby and accept the fact that devs will go to Epic to release then steam because steam takes 40% of sales while epic does around 10-15%. If you truly support the game and the devs you'd be okay with it on Epic for the sole fact they can make more money meaning they can make more or new content. I don't know how this flew under my radar, but this is honestly stellar. I've been dying to find this type of horror for a long time, and seeing it executed so well is like a dream come true. The music for this also fits incredibly well with the imagery; very reminiscent from the vibes that the track Prayer gave Silent Hill 3. I really hope development is going well for you all because everything about this is amazing.

I went from not knowing this game existed to needing this in my life ASAP in the span of about ten minutes. All of the trailers look incredibly slick. So many games these days wind up chasing trends, but Bleak Faith looks like it's actually trying to convey a tone and atmosphere of its own. So eerie. So good.

Because if something fell in love with a large part of the public, it was all you taught us at the beginning of everything. I love that mixture of medieval and futuristic, it reminds me a lot of Blade Runner. The trailer's soundtrack is amazing. I hope you don't change it much either.
