My answer to the question what is most important in EPC project is contract millestones, after that you have to writ the story in the right level in a ganttshart in p6 or msp what ever depending amout of data and the way to manage the data.. And of course you need to master with the tools like P6 and xls of course. Good Communication skills and trust with your project manager is very important also

Same happened to me in many times as seems the guy was completely lost in the interview :-(

Also what i want to say, planning engineer is not easy job, you are in the front line in project management. it is not only a question about planning and scheduling, you have to do reporting monthly or weekly, even daily if you are workin as workface planner. Sorry i speak for myself i have technician level and it is only 15 years i am workin in engineering in large industry.
