As always a great video. Thank you. I've been waiting for it and have picked up some valuable information. I'm really excited to test ElesticXL and VSNext.
Thanks for pointing out the elasticXL not working on open server & vm's. That kind of rules that out for my testing (would have been nice actually as a migration method to add nodes or swap out vm hosts of different performance metrics but they're probably holding it back as another lever to get people off open systems, which sucks).
It works to run elasticXL in lab for VM and sure you do need to set it up very specific. But I do agree that check point is making a mistake by not allowing for open servers / VM for elasticXL and VSNext, hopefully they add it in a later jumbo hotfix or in like r82.X. Something to ask during CPX now when it’s GA if there is any plans for it.
@@MagnusHolmberg-NetSec Yeah, and I plan on getting my SE/Sales to bring it back via that channel as well. We're about 80% of open server for checkpoint (pretty much anything that is larger than a soho) as it's so much more cost & performance effective. And in overall deployment about 45/45 with palo (10% for everyone else). If checkpoint tries to push too much to appliances I can easily see us replacing with Palo, not because they're any better but they have a much better marketing arm so they have the mind-share. Open server is pretty much what is keeping our checkpoint as an option.
@ Yepp, if pushing for appliances only it opens up for a lot of competitors, open servers makes it much harder as it’s perpetual licenses so much more stickiness. However I understand that functions starts on appliances due to testing and validation.
@@Patrick-iy1rb I would assume so, as elasticXL is a big change. So same for the VSX certification. Normally you are able to write the old exam for a few months even after the new is out.
Thank you for the review!
review will come in a few weeks,
So this is more a first impression video :)
Great video!
thank you :)

Your welcome :) yes this is a major change so there will be some videos in regards to it.
Made one a few months back when it was EA.

Hi Magnus. Do you know if they are also updating the CCSA certification to R82 soon?
