I don't know why such a developmental project connecting southwest to southsouth should generate any controversy. This road will be the most economically viable of any road in west Africa. When Bokohari was building railway to Mararadi nobody asked questions.

We can't continue getting things wrong, should we continue making mistakes all our lives because Buhari did it? No this project is good but considering where we are now as a nation, it's something that can come later, we really need to to the fundamental jobs, get our security right, get our power sector working, health and education sectors these are critical areas we need to focus on, spending #15 trillion on 700 km highway in this difficult time is hell no, 20% of the money will go along way in fixing our power sector to power our industries, attract foreign investors, 10% of it, if well handled will do a lot in agriculture sector, these are some of those things that can bring the dollars we're looking for, Dave Umahi has built an international airport in Ebonyi state ask him if that airport is still functional, wasted resources, how many people still remember there's an airport in Ebonyi state. Don't mind these guys oooo dem no get business sense, only grammar dem sabi, we already have good road networks that connects every nook and cranny of this country, they should focus on maintaining them instead of building a new one that is not so much needed now.

Look at the cost of the road. Nigeria is in serious debt, where is this money coming from? IGNORANT ARROGANCE…🤦‍♀️
The Landmark Village ecosystem supports scores of small businesses and entrepreneurs with thousands of direct jobs and even thousands more indirect jobs and livelihoods, generating individual income and corporate taxes and other revenue for the government to plough into education, healthcare, public transportation, etc. (assuming politicians do not embezzle same) - instead of relying almost entirely on revenue derived from the economic and environmental GENOCIDE of the Niger Delta.
Reverting to the ORIGINAL alignment for a mere 1.5km (out of 700km) along the Oniru coastline would have little or no effect on the project as there’s no discernible technical/engineering reason for the Minister’s new alignment. In a nation with massive unemployment (perhaps as much as 50%), instead of choosing the WIN-WIN option of preserving THOUSANDS OF JOBS, the Minister instead insists on his self-inflicted own-goals. Little wonder Nigeria has become the World Capital of Extreme Poverty!

DEVELOPMENT IS ABOUT PEOPLE! So if you are confessing that you are among those who “don’t know what development looks like” then I must concur that you probably don’t. But you’re not alone as this same Minister as governor of one of the poorest states and the only one designated as educationally-disadvantaged in its region elected to prioritize a vanity airport (that has been essentially dormant) when there is an underutilized international airport less than an hour away by road.
Accordingly, it frankly shouldn’t be surprising that in the World’s Capital of Extreme Poverty, with the highest number out-of-school kids in the world, crumbling healthcare and tens of thousands of healthcare professionals in a stampede to “japa”, the PRIORITY is to spend over N15 trillion (which is more than the 2024 budgets of all 36 states COMBINED) to build a vanity “coastal” road, which given climate change and rising sea levels will likely be flooded in myriad parts each time it rains. SMH

@@user-hj9qj4td7qwhile the OP’s sentiment is primordial and backward, it would NOT “because of one person”…
The Landmark Village ecosystem supports scores of small businesses and entrepreneurs with thousands of direct jobs and even thousands more indirect jobs and livelihoods, generating individual income and corporate taxes and other revenue for the government to plough into education, health, transportation, etc. (assuming politicians do not embezzle same) - instead of relying almost entirely from revenue derived from the economic and environmental GENOCIDE of the Niger Delta.
Meanwhile, how exactly would “development not take place” by reverting to the ORIGINAL alignment of this road for a mere 1.5km (out of the alleged 700km) along the Oniru beach coastline?! In a nation with massive unemployment (perhaps as much as 50%) instead of choosing the WIN-WIN option of preserving THOUSANDS OF JOBS the government instead insists on self-inflicted own-goals? No wonder Nigeria has degenerated into the World Capital of Extreme Poverty!

Why are Igbo’s making this a tribal issue, just why. Igbo’s on social media have become a nuisance it’s sad to say but factual. Oniru beach was demolished and no noise from that family and they are indigenous to the land. Enough of this division, we from the minor tribes are sick of it.

The igbos have entitlement mentality, you can imagine that oniru family who are indigenes and owner of the land are not even complaining that much, this people are just trying to blackmail the FG, 250m from the seashore belong to the FG which means landmark cannot have C of O under the law.
