What the hell, that is so oddly specific yet it's exactly what I experience too... I had a bunch of Opeth albums on my mp3, listening as I sat in the back of the car staring out the window on long trips. Such a specific vibe and I still get it when I listen to the older Opeth albums. Wild, small world.
@@TheActualVimplelol, they are a band that has sold millions of records and they've been around for 30 years. People primarily drive to get from one place to the next. How is any of this wild and how does it make the world smaller for you? Lol
Fredrik, during Opeth's show at Stage AE in Pittsburgh in 2021, you were graciously tossing picks to the crowd after the show. A few came near me and I tried to catch one but I kept missing. I hung my head thinking that I had missed my chance. I looked back up, saw you looking straight at me and you tossed a pick to me. It hit the ground and by the time I was able to get it, I looked up to say thank you but you had left. In case you're reading this, thank you! That moment in time meant a lot to me. I keep it locked up with the rest of my valuables as it is one of my most prized possessions.
What a cool experience. I had something similar happen when I saw Dark Tranquility in 2022 and got a pic from both guitarists. Chris Amott was still in the band so that was a special moment🤘
I love the way Fredrik really digs in when he plays, very visceral. Only a matter of days now until we get to hear the rest of the album, can't wait and I hope other playthroughs are on the cards.
I remember Mikael talking about the music and the recording process of Heritage back in 2011. He said he had enough of humbucker pickups and ultra high gain which made all metal sound the same and without dynamics. He wanted to get back to a sound where you could actually hear when the guitar player dug into the strings and played hard I'm sure this necessitated Fredrik to alter his technique so he now really plucks the strings with force
@@mtlman906 well, on Watershed, they sounded very much like a traditional metal band. Heritage and the more organic Fender sound was a reaction to that
Opeth is without a doubt one of the biggest bands on the Heavy Metal scene, Fredrik Äkesson is part of that essence, very precise and the musical quality is at its highest. Super band!
I’ve had the pleasure of touring with Opeth on several occasions, and they are top notch both as musicians and persons. Fredrik is one hell of a guitar player!
I once procured, uh, vegetables (I wasn’t a vegetable salesman lol) for arch enemy at a gigantour stop 2006, and met him on the bus, nice dude! Got backstage! Overkill, opeth, lamb of god, megadeth also playing
I’m pretty sure he uses high action. Tone before easy playability. Cool also to play the last syncopated riff down close to the bridge to really get that percussive trebly tone.
The composition is so well put together, I applaud Opeth for making the trips in the car as a child so memorable.

i disagree. i think Hope Drone are the best active band.

The best One in this time...😮
We still need a growlthrough for S1.
Opeth, still GOAT after all these years!
Opeth, Gojira and Meshuggah are currently metal's big 3.

Truly a gift to the mankind, Opeth

Fredrik has come a long way since Arch Enemy! What an amazing player!
Much love to you Fredrik, great and insane guitar playing! :D Also, amazing shirt! ❤
Fredrik is the best guitar player out there. His solo skills are out of this world...
Great playing, great video. Thank you, Fred!
Our biggest inspiration!
So good to see this track performed close up. Thank you!

Can’t wait for the release of the full album!
Nice! Thank you for your creativity!
He is so god damn good with the guitar. Amazing player, def one of my favorites of all time.
This album is going to be great
Love Fredrik. He’s elevated the band ever since joining Opeth. Pyjama goes hard btw. 🔥
These guys are incredible live
This album is my new fav Opeth album. It completely took me away. Love the direction they took, new drummer fits perfectly.
Any reason you guys dont use a seven string for the "Apostasy" part at @2:10? Instead of tuning down the 6th string to a B; Just curious.
magnifico!
So glad the real Opeth sound is back.
I am in awe
Ansioso pelo novo álbum.
Man this is amazing one!
Nice riffs!!
So effortless. So cool.
Fredrik is so clean and melodic
Awesome. You have become one of my favorite guitar player.
Such great taste, amazing!
Dave Stewart Absolutley Brilliant Arranger
Can´t wait for this album
Love you guys ! Greetings from Türkiye
Even better live!!!
I wanted this and we got it!
The first riff reminds me of Hessian Peel at 6:30ish and Hex Omega. And another track of Heritage/PC/Sorceress which I cannot remember.
Shredrik
i didnt see any shredding
Awesome playing 🔥🎸
Awesome song 🎼🎶
I love the way this guy plays. He reminds me of Yngwie, only with more melodic sensibility.
Amazing ❤
It is so hard to wait for Friday!
Well ... it's the same on every Tuesday, but THIS Friday the 22nd seems to still be so far away...
Straight 🔥!
My god, this is good!
After the last 2 albums I lost my hope to old opeth but this album is probably be like the opeth we knew. These riffs are crazy!!
Fredrik your playing reminds so much of Claudio Marciello! Specially his guitar work in 'Del Entorno' by Almafuerte

Those melodies go skin-deep, as always... sublime.

Great song has that Dream Theater feel also with the keys.
2:09 is he stepping on a pitch shifter here? So clean (and dirty).
Anyone saw the song name as 'Porcupine Tree' first?
Next level shit on this album

I’m hearing just the tiniest bit of Zappa in the latest album. Noice
That's yhe opeth sound i like. It's really characteristic of them, i just need 3 seconds of a song to know
