The 'entertainment' around the awards was brutal.

I will say I was dying laughing as player after player showed they were absolutely having non of it. Kuch’s face was priceless.

Listening to your comments about the awards show makes me happy that I missed it. As for the Hart Trophy, no one can say that Nathan MacKinnon was not deserving. He is a beast, and I say that with the deepest respect. I'm a Stars ran, but I love watching MacKinnon. ( I'm a hockey fan first.)
All Kuch could have done was be there to smile with his Art Ross trophy, there was no need to get him involved by mocking his accent. People will call it a joke and get over it, but the bit was not even funny and that's not debatable, so seriously Kuch not wanting to be there makes sense. I've seen people online already complaining about his attitude being there and how he should lighten up. I'm just confused at why people seem to target this player who deserved the Hart just as much as the winner. He'll get 160 points next season and quiet everyone again (and probably still lose)

So happy for MacKinnon, he's been nominated multiple times and finally won. The Lindsay was a surprise, it must feel good to know that other players voted for you. 👍🏻

Why do people go to Vegas in the summer? It's horribly hot. I'm from southern California
They crank the AC and it's pretty easy to avoid going outside, at least on the Strip. A lot of the casinos and shops there are linked underground.

Best host: Jared Kesso. hands down. He'd make it HILARIOUS. Him and/or Dylan Playfair and Andrew Herr....or just get the whole letterkenny crew

Benning deserves some credit for the Norris win. He knew exactly what he was doing on the draft floor...

they might get more milk out of that cow if the NHL had any idea how to present its product. the awards show is strong evidence that it still has no fucking clue whatsoever.

It fell like the cake your mom was baking . When you did a flying crash in the kitchen and she tells you the cake fell .
The "robo-drummers" were something we definitely could have done without. That was awful to see and hear!
Hart should have at least been closer. Kucherov contributed to like over 50% of all points for the Lightning. All 3 players were about as perfect as you could ask for though.
Maybe what they could do the announcers of the respective arena where it's being held to host the award show.
I feel there needs to be two defensemen trophies. The Norris goes to the defenseman that is best in points, and then a different award for best lock down guy. He's the guy that night after night minutes crunches, and routinely shuts the best forwards on the opposing team down both even strength and on the pk. He's the type of defensemen that only scores like 20 points a season yet is reliable in any situation. The type of guy who's a +20 on a terrible team. The players should vote for that award.
I laughed at the show. Key word there is “at”. I certainly wasn’t laughing “with” it.
Mike Myers might work as a host as well, he's canadian, loves hockey, and can be quite funny

The host was Bleeping terrible. Get Doc Emerick to host. Hockey show get hockey people to do it. and make it hockey themed.
I agree, I found myself switching channels during the awards show. How about this.....Make it a serious show about hockey with someone who knows hockey and get Ron MacLean to host. And if the NHL wants to add that comedic affect, and not use comedians who obviously don't know hockey, get Don Cherry. I would watch either of these in a heartbeat. I'm in Alabama but know the importance of these two gentlemen in the world of hockey.
I think Ilya Bryzgalov would be a great award show host.

So, it's quite obvious that the NHL should let The Hockey Guy host the awards show each year, the way it used to be done and should be done.
The Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal, with most of the nominees present. There isn't a hockey personality or player that doesn't know of The Hockey Guy. The Hockey Guy would be their choice.
The comedians don't know hockey or the players.

How about highlight reels and present ALL the awards at the show. Show clips of why people voted the way they did.
If a 1-hour show can be summed up by an 11 minute video (and you could have done it in 6), then we don't need the 1-hour show.

Here’s an idea: have Gene Principe involved in some capacity with P.K. Subban as the host. Subban is personable and a former player. Principe is witty and could handle joke and award delivery
Just get rid of the award show altogether. The NBA announces award recipients during the Playoffs and nobody has an issue with it.

Some of the best comedians in the world are Canadian and know hockey.... Jim Carey is a no brainer!
The former NHL goalie?
The show was "F*cking Embarrassing!" to quote a famous coach. (Where's my trash can..?) There are comedians who are funny and could do it, but the fella last night was not funny or a good fit. They need someone who has done an awards show. Also don't announce ANY of the awards ahead of time and do them all quickly as possible at a show that is not shoehorned in between the finals and the draft/free agency. Space these things out to keep the buzz going.
Shannon you would have been fantastic as MC.
The show was an insult to the viewers and the players alike. Not unlike the ESPN coverage. NHL needs new thinking and new leadership.

Nate Dogg swept Connor McDavid in the playoffs. Nate Dogg beat Kuch in the Stanley Cup finals. Best player in the NHL on just that..

No east coast bias this year. All the winners from the western conference. As for the host, too bad Eddie Shack has passed on. After all they called him the “Entertainer “. Baseball has always had funny guys, like Lefty Gomez, Dizzy Dean, Casey Stengel or Bob Uecker. Aren’t there any funny hockey players if they want a funny guy for a hockey show?

All awards going to regular season heroes. Might as well be participation trophies. These are great players, but who cares what happens in the regular season when teams aren't giving 110% like the playoffs.
BUT "McDavid is the best player in the world!", said by OH MY HOW MANY ANNOUNCERS AND REPORTERS AND.... ugh, it's made my ears bleed listening to it every time his name comes up... No. No, he's not. He's simply not. Good evidence right here showing that. 1 vote for the Hart. I've been saying all season, PLEASE STOP! I'd take a player who knows there are 3 zones in hockey over McGoldenboy ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. 🤣

That was a brutal watch. Comedy does not belong in everything especially when it is forced and just a bunch of cringe nonsense. Kucherov looked like he wanted to stab that one guy and I don't blame him.
I don't understand the need for every award show to be a comedy show...

Why do awards shows in general these days always insult our intelligence by having these moronic acts by unfunny and pretentious hosts? It's like those class clowns from elementary school who thought they're all that and you just wanted them to shut up.
I know. I long stopped watching award shows because of these unfunny and pretentious hosts.

Watched the most recent episode of shoresy a couple days ago. Spent the whole time saying "I desperately want keeso to host an NHL UA-cam channel, because I'd love to hear him comment on the teams and the games."

2019/20 rookie class of defenseman has three Norris’ in five seasons in the NHL… not too shabby.
I think the Michael Buble idea is really good. Alternate idea is the broadcast staff that wins the best broadcast award gets to duo up to do the hosting

Mostly right. Nate dog was a monster and awards have lost their value . Only one that was complete miss was Berdard. Sure, no easy season with asswipe Hawks and injury but realistically for Calder my eyes: Faber (note Bedard got benched also in WCs having same dilemmas. That happen to McDavid or Mackinnon?). Difference of the two? Bedard has no two way game at all even is shot is amazing. Faber plays sound both ways and is for a rookie a scoring threat. Sort of prize given before a single game was played. Ugh. I have spoken.
If not Buble then Will Arnett to host.
The difficulty too is that NHLers are generally not very exciting to begin with.

Have no interest in watching the NHL awards show without a reason beyond the awards themselves. Buble would get me to pay attention.
It’s honestly commendable how they drag it out for an hour. Like obviously I could make the typical comment of “they could just announce the winners and be done with it”, but I mean sure you want a little show. But did we really need 5 minutes of commercials after every award? I think they could have a show out of it and still get it down in 30 minutes.
