Can't wait until I get mine. The sculpt and proportions of this are exactly what I want from a masterpiece figure. Inspired by the toon but updated and refined for an adult collector. I didn't hear this rumor/news of Fanstoys acquiring their own factory. That bit of news made my day. Hell, it made my whole pandemic!
I am really looking forward to receiving this release. I am with you, I love the extra details and the change in sculpt from the cartoon. Some of the characters looked fairly dumpy, and I am a huge proponent of making these look more mature and heroic. It's one of those releases that makes the character look like I miss-remember him to look, instead of how he really looked. Thank-you for the review. It will hold me over till mine arrives.
@Shield Liger the same was true for MP Optimus V3. At least FTs is already getting starting to send replacement parts, and is $100 compared to $450. All companies have the occasional QC issues, and overall I have had less problems with FTs then Takara, and Takara has way more money, a larger company and way more staff on hand to check QC. Plus, I know several people who have received their versions already, including me, and I and no one I know has had one come broken or managed to break it in transformation, but each to their own. Haters will hate.
@Shield Liger , received it, have transformed it several times, taken quite a few photos in excellent poses, no issues. Feels much better to manipulate and transform then my MP Hound, which cost more.
FT Sheridan looks so damned good. The robot mode looks solid and, this may sound odd, like a very well made action figure. That is, something not designed to transform. If the day ever comes and pigs fly and breath underwater, and Takara-Tomy makes their own MP Warpath, I doubt anyone who owns FT Sheridan need to get their’s.
I thought he was breathtaking when I took him out of the box. I love the heft and feel. I’m glad you mentioned the super hero aesthetic because I dug it with Spindrift and it’s also the reason I still have MP10 as my MP Prime.
I have to say Sheridan is really nice and call me crazy but I like badcubes wardog. Yes the transformation is a nightmare but other than that he does it for me. Plus I don’t know exactly what it is about his shield but I really dig it.
Im keeping Wardog in tank mode. Keeping this in bot mode. Ill transform him once. I think thats what ill do from now on. Anything Fanstoys makes and i have. The other will go in vehicle mode.
You can now recreate the scene from Hoist goes to Hollywood! Thanks for the review. I’m still thinking if on getting it, but I’m not sure. But your review helps a lot. Very appreciated.
Love at the End how you've been paning the camera around the figure while doing the voice over! Am not even gonna lie! He looks absolutely fantastic! Love how that burgundy red clashes against that gray backdrop. As always great review!
Man, your vid helped me a TON of this guy - had the exact same minor issues, but when everything is this tight (so to speak), yeesh, I don't wanna just go and push joints. But, same knee, same slight wobble compared to other while not budging when I bend it, but pulling down and out got 'er going.
I got QC33 and my left lower leg fell off during transformation. The pin/screw was not tightened all the way which I could tell out of the box. If you don’t transform it the leg holds and you won’t realize it. FT already address the issue and are sending replacement pin/screws to retailers.
Great review! I immediately looked at the cartoon Warpath and his look and proportions are closer than you think. Size wise I saw one shot where he is same size as Powerglide and in the next same size as Smokescreen.
So got mine in today. QC30. Left knee is good, right knee is horribly tight. Can only get half range til it seems to bind or rub. Havent transformed it yet. But,it feels premium,I'm beyond happy with the way it looks. However, with alot of things that look good,it may have some underlying issues. Gonna be leery of that knee. Ugh.
Re-issues: generally better or worse than the first run? Are you missing out on anything if you get the reissue? Do makers hold the reissue to the same standards of paint and finish? Sheridan might the first toy that I feel fairly confident in waiting for a second run. Firstly, that it will happen; secondly that it will probably be an improvement.
I feel like he looks just like he did in the cartoon. Maybe a little more "heroic" so to speak but almost exactly how he seems to appear in most of the animation, that's part of a big reason for why this figure appealed to me in the first place.
Bobby keep an eye on the inner shoulder connection points. I've transformed mine a handful of times and the screws started to loosen up and little. Had to take them apart and tighten them up. Otherwise I agree with all your points. It's a awesome fig. Is it a homerun no, but still great.
I'm glad you didn't get stuck with the QC 33 one. thats the one that has the leg falling off issue. Mine was off in the box before I even opened it. I still love this figure, but its a bummer for sure. great review as always.
Again a great indept and honest review from the Skullmaster. You rock! I really appreciate your honesty and no nonsense reviews you are famous for. Great video and thanks for making this. I will get mine in next week and thanks to your review I am really looking forward to it. Hope you and your family stay safe as well. Take care buddy. Roy
This is one of the G1 characters I've been looking forward to most and so I'm glad that, overall, this got a positive recommendation from you, Bobby :) I'm totally with you on the aesthetics: I much prefer to have more moulded detail on the figures; the plain panels of the cartoon-perfect look just seem boring and flat to me.
It's a great figure. My waist was waaay too tight. My hand swivels were too tight. My left arm had trouble extending. My right knee also had trouble bending. Lots of little problems. Not deal breakers, but troubling.
If you're ever hurting for content these days, you could make a side by side, step by step transformation comparison between Wardog and Sheridan. You should have enough material for 4 or 5 videos. :p
Looking at the size chart, he is the same size as Smokescreen. From what I can tell, he was correct compared to all those minibots except Powerglide. I think Powerglide was supposed to be taller.
This was a figure I had planned on holding out on. A second gen. G1 guy here, minibots never were my thing, combined with FT transformations I wasnt sold on the ideaa of a tank-former that didnt make me want to throw it. Now Im sold, looks engaging and complex but not mind-numbing.
a little off-topic i finally bit the bullet and tried to add the Neca lines to the Figuarts turtles, if you're curious: www.tfw2005.com/boards/attachments/tmnt-jpg.28597298/ To me looks good enough and i suck at customizing.
@Shield Liger The people who love FansToys is part of the Problem with FansToys. From what I can tell, FT aims most of it's stuff at collectors who only display & forget. All their stuff looks very nice, but it's sometime lacking in posability, and transformation-wise, always relies on floppy linkages. For people who display their stuff standing straight-forward, doing nothing, that's fine, but I spend big money on my MP's, I'm buy them to play with. I usually create a new display with my figures every couple of days, and because of that, I pass of most stuff FT does.
I love the heroic proportions. I like G1 as much as anyone, but I'm ready for a newer take. I realized the other day that I don't care to see another G1 style prime ever again
As cool as this guy looks, I still prefer Badcubes Wardog. I know it isn't as toon accurate, but I just think Wardogs chunkier proportions just seem to fit a tank bot more. Probably just me, though.
Great review and looks like a good figure. Looking forward to opening him up. I think one of your better transformation demonstrations. Also very interested in more information on the fanstoys factory.
@@israelmoreno3620 Yea man, just got mine in from TFSOURCE. My left knee is good, but my right knee is so tight, that I only get half the range. I'm scared to transform it,to be honest. Sorry to hear about yours man. And it is a nice figure.
I want it. Do I want it as much as when I first saw it? No - inefficient knee, weird elbows and I don't understand cladding the turret in a faux turret - seems to make the 'bot mode bigger which is not necessarily what you want in this case. Whilst the price is fair, it is a little spendy compared to badcube's Huff - for me, the yardstick for MP minibots. Overall, though, I still want it and am keeping my eyes out to buy it if I can - unusual for me and a FT product so well done to them.
1/2 inch Less thigh and it would have been perfect. Bugs the eyes when he is taller than wheeljack.. but looks better standing posed next to tracks.. didn't think I would have an issue putting him on the shelf.. but I have not been able to get him looking just right.. no knock just see my self having an interesting champagne problem. Have not put him down.. He is dope but tricky to get him looking just right.. maybe after getting comfortable with the mold..wont surprise me if someone comes out with a mod for the legs..just to collapse the leg a taste.. thanks for the consistent content ol' chum ... stay skully n safe out there.. your friend.
To see Warpath (Sheridan) next to Tiger Tracks and Smokescreen pretty much says how much bigger and better looking fanstoys G1 autobot cars will be compared to Takara’s.
I think it all looks great except that one pose where you have his legs A framed out and those shoulders kinda broken away from his body. Other than that, I absolutely dig how it looks.
Empty Night! This is a feat of plastic origami engineering. I thought he looked small, so I didnt order him. He looks cool in your hands. I wish I had gotten him now.
I think he probably just means that Takara have gone that direction so it's led the 3rd party designers down the same path. But I'm a bit of a noob here so I could be wrong. What does he mean when he refers to "hardware"?
Great review and this is an awesome figure. However I am still on the fence with Warpath size. I remember the G1 figure was tiny but in the cartoon Warpath vs. Blitzwing had both at a similar size. Overall still looks like a good FT release.
I had several words in mind to describe the proportions, beautiful was not one of them how do you like this over the cartoon? I just checked some screenshots and the toy looks nearly identical in most shots, if not a bit better, the arms aren't stumpy and the track kibble isn't jagged, granted it is a cartoon, but the figures arms are wack in comparison
My own knees went weak when I saw the Wardog Veteran Edition premium finish, so I embraced the suck and learned to love that transformation. I don't see Sheridan as heroic, but just plain scrawny.

Ayup another fanstoys figure I won’t be brave enough to transform 😂. Ngl really wish he wasn’t a minibot, really think it would’ve been cool if he was as big as prime or bigger.
i got this toy (brand new, sealed box) with his leg detached. i called fanstoys and they said they would not replace it unless you live in china. considering how much the figure costs, that's ridiculous. i wouldn't recommend fanstoys unless they change their return policy.
this further solidify that the car bots are too small. Against prime he looks right but wrong against a car bot. The question is will some 3rd party be brave enough to make bigger car bots?
Damn skully I couldn't agree more with your description not warpath but damn good looking figure. Does not fit in my collection but if I would of went a different way hell yeah this figure makes me juice but NOT WARPATH. I would smack cartoon warpath and piss myself if I ran into this figure but born 1975 sooooo kind of locked into commitment with g1 cartoon accurate. Yup cosmos fan. 😟
The shoulders on mine might have too much lube, they're loose as hell (haven't even transformed him or posed him much). Not their best effort by a long shot (some ratchets would have been nice too for the price).
That transformation doesn't look fun. I think Final Victory wins on a more straightforward transformation. Closer to the spirit of the Warpath minibot toy.
Its a masterpiece transformation. it is what it is. unlike those regular hasbro released chug/earthrise/siege toys that are also intended for kids.. which is the same for final victory.

Oh, no I don't have this figure.....
06:00 - Preach. Sculpted detail for the win!
You can flip my flaps any time, Bubbeh.
The details in this figure make it feel more "premium" to me as well. I hope they continue along that path, warpath. Haha! Great review!
As someone who had G1 Warpath as a kid and played with him a lot this captures the 'feel' of that figure far better than any Hasbro effort since.
Guy you said "pull out" "lubricant" and "tighter" in the span of 5 seconds
So to speak.
Mine had that lube on his codpiece, maybe he was busy making little Warpaths before he got to me? Ha ha
😂
I remember having this sucker as a G1 kid! Thanks Bobby

He looks really great! Thanks for the video Bobby! Looking forward to seeing there other G1 offerings not too far down the road
issues on knees are initial. its gone once u carefully move it back and forth. maybe coz its "factory fresh" new or something like that.
Warpath's best line "Hey Blitzwing! Tank you!"
Love at the End how you've been paning the camera around the figure while doing the voice over! Am not even gonna lie! He looks absolutely fantastic! Love how that burgundy red clashes against that gray backdrop. As always great review!
Unscrew the lower inner thigh screw slighty and bend knee fully, then retighten, no clearance issues inside, something with the screw sticky.
Love this figure. Looks so good on the shelf, and so far feels much better then my MP Hound.
The level of engineering is simply phenomenal

I read that FT is shipping out replacement parts (screws? rivets?) to fix some of the issues, so buyers should contact their sellers and ask about it.
Qc33 apparently missed a pin in the knees. Qc32 apparently is good to go.
I had QC33 and my left lower leg fell off

Whoa. Boys for Pele reference. That's a deep 90's music cut, dude.
Thanks for the review. TBH, this looks great on both modes, but seems like such a hassle to transform.
Is Takara not allowing Fans Toys to paint metallic blue eyes??
Pretty figure but those FT “squeaky-creakies” will never be ok to me. Not quite nails on a chalkboard but not pleasant.

do you have any news on their thomas? thanks sir
Fun fact the nickname and alt mode for Fanstoys Warpath is an actual tank lol. M551 Sheridan
I find many of the Fans Toys figures compare to the cartoon the same way the Teen Titans compare to Teen Titans Go!! (my kid loves the latter). The more heroic, grown up version.

Rick Wright Wardog is a partsformer lol

You should say it more often, Bobby.
Great review. Love this Warpath🤩
His turret is dinky in alt mode, but at least it's accurate to the real-world tank.
Smaller figures shouldn’t really need ratchet joints to be fair
Wow pow zam
So this is what Mrs Bucket's son looks like, who knew?
I would get this but my 14 year old self can't support my collection😞
too talk victory was perfect size
It looks ultra slim. Was it on a Keto diet? smh. I am keeping my badcube wardog.
Lol Same, Wardog suits the character better more than the cartoon
The shoulders on mine might have too much lube, they're loose as hell (haven't even transformed him or posed him much). Not their best effort by a long shot (some ratchets would have been nice too for the price).
That transformation doesn't look fun. I think Final Victory wins on a more straightforward transformation. Closer to the spirit of the Warpath minibot toy.
Its a masterpiece transformation. it is what it is. unlike those regular hasbro released chug/earthrise/siege toys that are also intended for kids.. which is the same for final victory.
