  • Although Aang had great skill with waterbending, it was one of his least used elements in battle. While in the Avatar State, Aang could bend water from such remote distances a common waterbender could not reach, and he could raise the waters of an entire ocean, mimicking the moon pulling the tides, to cover an entire forest.

According to that also probably that's why it earthbended that much
Toph (the earthbender of the group) was already a pro so it was his path of growth
Also it really fits Aang's style: it can rely on defense and offensifmve quite well without being fully aggressive

The most available element are air, since it everywhere. Then fire, since you only need body heat & breathing (funfact since you can't breath underwater, one other reason they're opposite) to generate it. Then Earth, same reason as air but there's some place are modified/naturally doesn't have earth (ocean, Woods constructed palace, or built of it's substyle counterpart). The least available are water, (except you're very skilled waterbender like hama or katara, even katara still needs to bring water pocket in battle).
But in terms of versatility and advanced combat, water has much more prowess & substyles.
The first are water, then earth, then fire, then air.
Edit : yes, I am aware that air are already very deadly and maybe should be considered most versatile , but they're lack of killing moves and relied on pacifist moveset. If you compare air with other elements in their peak, Water, Earth, & Fire have more prowess. In that note, all the elements are equal and complete each other. Some maybe powerful but there's also a price for that power.

He was disguised as fire nation so he didn't bend much with people around, and when the Gaang were by themselves, there wasn't much need to bend. Besides, he was still training earthbending so there was more focus on that, and the last few episodes were all about firebending, even though it wasn't a lot. I get that they probably wanted to finish it with the Avatar State, but I feel like Aang could've held his own using waterbending with such a huge body of water around. Considering he could also redirect lightning, it felt like he would've been able to snag the upperhand if he fought near the lake. He probably wouldn't have been able to win, but it was kinda sad to see that he didn't even try to fight using a huge body of water.

0:44 is one of my favorites hahaha. Reminds me a lot of what Katara does when they're escaping from Combustion Man, she twirls her wirst and holds a water barrier with such delicacy. So great lol

The most satisfying part was when he wrapped his water whip around Ozai and threw him on top of the rock cliff
"Where are you going bitch, you're not getting away from me, you said you wanted to fight like a man" 😂

I just noticed, Aang’s technique when bringing up the water to put out the fire is just first technique Katara used to train him.

not really much of an accomplishment considering he's used Fire Bending in a grand total of one fight, and immediately stopped when he realized that Ozais Fire Bending was way better than his.

Aang has a natural talent for water bending but never did anything with it. Like, compared to his Earth bending it wasn't as complex.
