This surgery I had and I feel like a failure. It’s a mental thing that I was not prepared for it. It’s the hardest thing because I still look for food as an escape. I need to heal my self and should have done it before my surgery

I completely understand I did the same as Jenicka I started a relationship with my best friend right after my dad died. I was going through a lot at a young age and didn’t have anyone except her and I thought it was love but I also had no attraction to women or her. But I was young only 13 and was very lost. I eventually apologized to her and held guilt for many years. Thank you for talking about this.

You know what alan you are very generous and humble and that’s why you are so blessed! My husband is the same he spends money on other people rather than himself. He always feeds homeless who ask for food or gives money to those who ask. It’s about doing it with your heart and kindness not because you feel obligated. Jenicka is so sweet! Bless her heart! I truly loved this episode, I wanted to give some constructive criticism and say that people don't choose to be gay. I grew up in a very homophobic household as most Latinos do but I knew since I was very young I was different but I couldn't say anything. I tried dating men as well and it just didn't feel right. To anyone dealing with homophobia at home, I want to say you are seen, you are loved, and you're allowed to be happy. Thank you for this episode, we need more representation.
Alan I have a question, were you born in the U.S.? Your Spanish is so perfect! I was born in East L.A. from a single Mexican mom and my Spanish was terrible growing up! I look extra Mexican which makes life difficult when you're Spanish is crappy. I was judged for looking so morena with limited culture knowledge:*(
57:14 How is your alcoholic intake after the surgery? I've been with my husband for 13 years. He is a social drinker - and yet I had never seen him drunk wasted - NEVER. He got the surgery a year ago and dear christ a few shots get him wasted. In this year I've seen him drunk 3 times, 1 completely blacked out wasted. For no reason he slapped my son so hard in his drunkenness 😢
