- Old Man Robocop Origins - Frank Miller's Real Script For Robocop 3 That So Damn Intense And Dark, The Studios Couldn't Handle It
#robocop
The problem with Robocop acting as a rogue vigilante is that he needs very expensive maintenance just to survive. The only way he could still operate is if he's supported by some kind of resistance movement. Maybe some OCP doctors and engineers grew a conscience and joined the resistance, stealing some essential equipment in the process. Then the resistance network does its best to procure the spare parts needed to keep Robocop operational. In this Robocop would actually feel like an old man, since he is running with subpar and scavanged components, with performances far inferior to when he was working for OCP.
Old man scavenger cop. "Dead or alive, your coming with me, to the scrap yard"😊
That's probably the least of the problems with this story. Honestly, the actual Robocop 3 was better than this. The robot bomb kid that sticks around Murphy until he figures out she's a bomb... That's just stupid. The love interest that dies but comes back because she has a disk back up!? I think I would have walked out at that point.
@@anotherthing Yeah, I hate kids dying. Robo or not. What if the kid didn't know she was a robot? A dilema for sure. What is life anyways?
👍🏼💯
@@Kopie0830 My point wasn't that Robocop killed the robot kid. It's a robot. Who cares about that. My point was that if you go to the trouble of making a bomb into a robot kid, you're probably going to blow it up once it gets near Robocop. The fact it gets near him and stays near him for quite a while and doesn't get detonated is just plain idiotic. Frank Miller is very overrated.
This would have been, the Robocop 3 we all wanted.
Except for the falling in love with Bertha! That was kinda cringy!
yeah the plot of R3 was top notch the dystopia we are haded to, NWO vibes, big gov, fascism and it takes one cop to bring back actual order. but poorly, horribly executed.
that would still be awesome to have this one just redone. and that would speak a lot, may be, in fact, a bit too late.
@@thenickhelms84Yup
I really hope that Teyon does a killer story expansion for RObocop: Rouge City like they did for Terminator: Resistance. It has been super fun diving back into these old IPs again, and Teyon is working magic with them, movie studios should be taking notes
They could literally reboot the entire franchise with this storyline.
I'd pay good money to see that. Especially if they could talk Peter Weller into starring as this aged RoboCop
They are, amazon bought the rights and are in the middle of writing a new movie anda tv series based on this script
@@themorningstar8774 long as they don't give RoboCop the same treatment that they gave Tolkien's work with Rings of Power 🤮
just be careful what you ask for, they would probably reboot it into some woke thing where Robocop is a moron and has to constantly be supervised by a woman and the woman has to constantly save him
@@NordicDan I'd buy that for a dollar. 🤑
So Frank Miller wrote a script for both part 2&3?!?! That’s awesome
Yes. He was still hopeful things would turn out well despite the bad experience he had on "Robocop 2" (the final movie only has a few similarities to his original script and a lot of ideas, like the rehab soldiers and the gunarm, ended up in "Robocop 3"). His version was definitely darker than the movie we got and there were a couple of nice moments, but, all in all, it still made the same crucial mistake of treating Robocop like Batman while if he's like any comic book character at all, he's supposed to be like Judge Dredd. Robocop 3's director Fred Dekker took over screenwriting duties after Miller quit and we got the movie we got (toned-down violence aside, I don't think Miller's script would've been filmable with 1991 tech on the relatively-low budget they had - although 3 was the most expensive of the original movies).
@@thermonuclearcollider4418 Robocop 3 is the most expensive? It looks the cheapest of the three. Are you sure about this? Also, I don't think you can get any darker than Robocop 2: a cop getting his organs harvested, the brain removal, little kid being murdered, Cain's rampage, OCP CEO stepping over a dead body on his way to a limo)))
Frank Miller shit has to be done right otherwise it can easily come out straight up dumb.
If Orion wasn’t going out of business and the 90s wasn’t so toy heavy, Robocop sequels would be very different.
Honestly, I think we overall probably dodged a bullet Miller's script not being used with 2.
Dope Robocop comic I wish Robocop 3 was like this.
...I'm sure robocop 3 wishes it were like this.
@@benjamingamache64410
RoboCop 3 two would wish to became like this. 😢
@@benjamingamache6441 We all wished Robocop 3 was like this.
I'd buy that for a dollar
Lmao
Shut it
RoboCop 1 is unbeatable 😎😎
Also mind-blowing to my 9 year eyes 👀👀.
The modified Beretta was unforgettable 👻👻
Made beretta my favorite
The Auto 9 is one of the most iconic sci-fi guns ever made, up there with the Pulse Rifle, the DL-44, and Blade Runner's Blaster
This video and story is amazing! I can't believe I had to wait decades for this.
This was very well done! So many marvelous verdict videos are lazy Clickbait summaries, with very little more than basic story telling, but not this one! Great job!
Marie is truly one of robocop's greatest and one of his most loyal allies.
This would have been an amazing movie
One of my favorite (and one of less crazy) Frank Miller's works. The idea of broken down Robo, all scratched and chipped and held together by duct tape and determination, fighting the good fight against OCP and it's rent-a-cops.
Well done! I was not aware of these comics. I can only imagine if this was a Robocop movie made with the same vision. Thank you for this video!
This would make for an awesome movie....an older barely functional machine weary of life and humanity making his way through a post apocalyptic doomed megatropolis killing anything that gets in his way... kinda like mad max if max was actually made from the car....
The Robocop 3 we deserved
He says he didn't consent to becoming RoboCop, he actually did. It's stated clearly in the first film that when OCP took over to run the police the cops all signed forms, and that legally Murphy is dead and can do whatever they like.
Robocop had that body upgrade thanks to Marie. But how come in the "A New Beginning" book it looks like all those upgrades are gone and he's back to his old body. Well looks like his old body because he's having a hard time fighting off the Scavengers.
Another thing, is that Marie @22:30 working with Robocop? She's like Robocop now I guess.
ROBOCOP is my favorite show of my childhood, so I can hear his music when action begins
I have an idea for a final Robocop film. OCP gets sick of RoboCop not being 100% obedient then tells his caretaker to dismantle him. She does but preserves his brain, then takes it to her friend who has a top secret cloning project who clones Murphy’s body around his brain. Robots have replaced Human cops and are are ruthless and corrupt. Murphy makes body armor out his old armor and hunts down each robot cop. Eventually OCP goes bankrupt due to it’s bad press and no one is willing to refund them. Human Cops replace all of the robots and Alex is promoted to Sargent after stopping all of the robots that had been abusive to mankind.
Not too bad
That's pretty good tbh
Sounds pretty good dude. Although I would change Murphy’s promotion to Captain instead is sergeant. The man deserves it.
That sounds way better than Robocop 3.
Man I could really get into this. I was in elementary school when the first movie came out and I remember I liked it for how gritty it was. I’m not really into si-fi or robots but this is the second video I’ve seen from you guys about Robocop and I’m liking it
Holy crap, he's alot more mobile than in the movies..
Did anyone else notice that Birtha and Marie were the names of folks from Robocop 3?
Frank Miller is to comics what fire is to early man. Ferocious and illuminating!
"American Brute Force" is my new pseudonym! Thanks.
Bring the 80s films back with bruit force, memes and all!😁
Hoooo-leeeee CRAP this is amazing! Where's THIS Robocop film series?! I WANT IT! WOW!
Nice work bro i Will follow this Chanel 🤝🏾💯👊🏾💪🏾
First thing I thought of was Dark Knight Returns when I saw the comic in your video and then he goes on to be like him, funny enough he's the voice of the Batman in the animation The Dark Knight Returns. That's cool. :)
If only we got this version of Robocop in the movies
Dear God, why couldn’t he be in charge of the show and franchise. The comics are killer. We would not have a RoboCop three that sort. This would be epic.
I like the premise of the OCP reviving Murphy who has been on ice to fight terrorism.
Great vid. Excellent narration. Thank you!
It's AI crap.
Well, this will make a solid Robocop 2 and 3 under Paul Verhoeven's direction.
*whoaaaa this is crazy*
This would be a movie even better then the first one and the best send off for this whole saga. That's so sad this vision haven't been realised in movie.
Robocop by Verhoeven: Robot fights corporation in subversive satire on fascism that we only got decades later.
Robocop by Miller: Fascist robot fights fascist corporation for a better fascism.
pretty sure most people got this back in the 80s))) Robocop was one of few American movies officially being shown in Soviet theaters back in the day. if you want to look at real life OCP, look at Haliburton. They also supply defective tech to US military, ED209 style)))
They made the lady looking for him the same as the driver from Quarentine!!
Great video, thank you for sharing
we need a word count for how many times he said "Robocop"
I'd give the story an 8 and a half out of 10, nobody wants a movie or a show to get too far in to too much action right away and the same goes for comics, they want a lil storey telling in it to and that's where the slow to action concept comes in.
You get in to the real action right away it ruins it because action has an edg like a razor use it too much and it goes dull it becomes so common it's lame but apply it at the right intervals and it's like putting a specified sheath on that razor if it's made right it sharpens it every time it's used and the action stays exiting.
This would be a beautiful movie
I would love to see this as a robocop movie
Love robocop so badass
Katana...
Ok who brought swords to a a 'Nuke' fight...
Otomo?
Poor robot ED-209, he was again very cruelly broken. Although I really like the ED-209 vs Robocop fights. I think the ED-209 would have won the battle. It is unlikely that Robocop will be able to damage the ED-209 robot at all without the Cobra cannon. 5:07 🦾
ED-209 has design flaws. He can't shoot anything that does near his feet or underneath him (which is how the little girl was able to hack him and ED couldn't do a thing to stop her.)
The ED-209 robot doesn't need to shoot under its feet. He can just start stomping. Its weight will be enough to even crush a Robocop. At the same time, it is really unclear why he did not react to the girl, although the robot felt that she was connected to his leg
@@Vlad.Larionov ED's knees are bad for that, they're reverse jointed so at best it could maybe(?) try flicking like a bird but he's so poorly balanced he'd fall over.
(ED209 is designed to look intimidating, not practical - something the remake sadly did, the ED209's in the remake are huge, can actually arrest an unarmed suspect and jump to avoid stairs.)
The black and white OCP logo on a red flag is such an overly obvious reference 😂
Desty Nova : «Hold my flan!»
Thank you for this!
It could probably work as an animated series
Awesome style of art❤🎨
Honestly... if you can't get Verhoeven himself, Frank Miller likely the next best choice to pen a Robocop film ngl.
I hope they add this to Robocop Rogue City.
I really wish they would do one more with the original actor... Something similar to this ..
Again, much better than the actual sequel movies we got and they suck!
We need a Robocop/Deus Ex crossover.
Robocop is walking one man/robot logistics nightmare. Any time he gets damaged he needs an army of technicians and spare parts to rebuild him . This maybe a good comic but in all honesty the suspension of disbelief required would be through the roof on this one element alone .
Yes, but when is Hobo-Cop coming out?
Seriously, a very big thank you for this one!
Sincerely,
Alicia from Sweden.
They can make this a video game, a Trilogy if you will.
robocop and batman crossover would be fucking great. or to reboot the movies with this grittyness
Robocop can't physically age, he's a machine. And he can't grow hair on his face!
Oh man, in the end they ressurect him like Adam the first man (with the kabbalistic tree and stuff)
this was awesome!
Sounds like Detroit today 😂
They could always make an animated version...
Basically he became judge dredd 😁
Sorry back, old dudarobocop
Pure love♥️
There RoboCop 4 period it worth watching this video.
They could definitely make a Logan type movie based off this.
Yeah, but have a happy ending. 😊
WoW 🤩
I love this 🤝
Mega city one, the RoboCop sweet ride
Robocop kick ass!!!
I would love to see a judge dredd robo cop cross over if only in a comic found and resurrected by dredd to assist in some epic battle and swarn in as a judge ahhh sweet dreams
Like Batman: The Dark Knight Returns meets Old Man Logan
Please please please never stop ♥️
Still not sure wich i like more. Robocop or Dredd. I think 90's Robocop over old Dredd. But the new Dredd with Carl Urban is visually stunning. Even if my fellow swede did a pretty good job with the new Alex Murphy.
Robocop is 100% realistic movie. Everything you see is actually going on in large corporation. Think Haliburton))) Dredd is just fantasy
Peter Weller 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I'd love to see a sequel where they find the RoboCain chassis and reprogram it to help out, instead of Ed209. Use the 209 AI processors in place of a brain which they just happen to be able to make fit and sync up.
Good ol fashioned Ultraviolence LOL
He’s old but not obsolete
Now this is RoboCop 3 they should have made this into a series
The comic design reminds me of Dynamix Rise Of The Dragon sci-fi cyberpunk future. They need to make this RoboCop comic into movie
*Sticking to his guns ..... Literally!!*
Literally? Like literally? Not figuratively? Literally literal?
I wish MGM would remake RC3 and do Last Stand with a much older Peter Weller. Think id have Guillermo Del Torro direct it
Or Robert Rodriguez
Some rly nice panels
This would have been a great movie
Detroit has become close to this without Robocop.
First
I second that lol
Prime directive to say "third"..
Peter Weller is now old enough to play this character convincingly. If only we had a studio with balls.
@@waverlyking6045 I got balls
The most shocking thing is the fmc just to be with robocop became an Android herself and his new lover although both are machines right now.
EXCELENTE!!!!!!
i love robocop
If you think my click is small maybe I’ll take it somewhere it might be appreciated. Besides, I’ve heard your click is the tiniest ever discovered, a process that required a team of dorks, a stable of unpaid interns and a scanning electron microscope.
Where can I find the comics? And I thought Bertha died in the 3rd film after OCP ambushed their hideout?
Super Sweet... I'm sure Hollywood will f*ck this up as well
Peter Weller would have come back for this
I agree Robocop 3 is a mess of a movie, and makes no sense. But I don't think this comic could make a better script. It is as confusing, crazy, and somewhat disapointing as the movie was. While some Frank Miller's comics are good, some are a classic, this one really doesn't feel special. I don't think Miller really understand the Robocop character - It's sort of the same problem Zack Snyder had with superhero characters, especially Batman.
RoboCop Vs airwolf...
My only criticism with this video is that you ended it with "and be safe" instead of "and stay out of trouble".
*"I LIKE IT!"*
Before Frank Miller completely lost his mind.
Shouldn’t he be called Old Man Murphy? Never mind, this would be pretty cool as a reboot.
