Depends what chapter you join. Every chapter is different. I got third degree but I joined a chapter in a big, liberal city. The culture was different there. There was even one gay guy in the chapter but we didn't treat him any differently. Everyone was cool with him.

You’ve given them something to become hardened against, and I don’t blame them for whatever they do. I don’t support radical actions, but they aren’t more radical than the people they’re fighting against.

This a chapter based organization, so one chapter can be vastly different from the chapter in the next state over. This doesn't provide good insight into the PBs, just the Wisconsin chapter.
He's right about some chapters. I was going to transfer because I heard a lot of good things about Az. I got word the Arizona chapter got rid of there only black member of 5 years that is well known. He also was there chaplain. He was Elder for 3 of those 5 years. He always spoke highly of the group. He recently told us things have drastically changed. The older partners that grew the group on God family and country have stepped down to focus on there families. This new group of guys are not about brotherhood. They are absolutely not what they once were. On face side they act as if they are Patriots but the core is hateful and far right.
In other words they're doing what Gavin McGinnes wanted them to do. The proud boys are a literal far right gang created to beat people up.
