@@WarReport.really? im a bruins fan so i don't watch it as closely but.... i thought it was more due to the fact that they lost in the playoffs & wanted to get Brandon Saad back because he had been a key member of their last cup run. i thought they thought he was a better all around player (especially in the playoffs). Panirn was sick with Kane tho… but that's what i thought the reason was. weren't they able to write off Hossa's massive contract because they were able to put him on LTIR and they also got rid of that fat winger who got like $5-6 million per year to like the coyotes? so i thought it was a hockey move more then a straight up salary cap move? (i know they were and are still currently in trouble with the cap and im sure that had at least 25% of it but i always thought they wanted Saad back.)
separate topic here but i always felt bad for Chicago (until they signed Toews and Kane to $10.5 mil per year deals for 8+ years each) because teams that draft well shouldn't have to draft, invest money, time, ice time and go through the ups and downs of young players to then lose said player because of the cap. but that's another story.

Joey D'Amico Duchene is extremely overrated and extremely overpaid by the preds. Definitely not a winner imo
@@CoupleOCux I would've agreed if he hadn't just put up a 70 point season. He's a pretty dynamic player. I think 8 mil is about right. He's making the same as Johansen and they are very similar players.
Hey! We addressed this one earlier in the day (first video I think) after it happened. We both loved it! Though Duchene would go for more money, but $8 mil is solid, especially considering that's less than the Subban contract they moved out previously.

Teams who did not buy into the crazy numbers were the winners today. I can already see fan bases going nuts when some of these guys flop after a couple seasons and they are on the hook for a bunch of years.
Trading Phil away was rough, but as long at Pitt has Sid and Geno and Letang, they have a shot. You never know!

sorry to comment twice but I also wanted to complain about the stupidity of NHL GMs. only a handful of years after their 3rd significant lock out in 20 years they have this dumb system in place that was supposed to somewhat look like this: Player A gets drafted in the first round has 3 year entry level deal, then Player A gets a "bridge" deal worth 3-5 maybe 6 million dollars for 1-4 years... then finally Player A gets paid what hes worth. hes in his prime and can secure a long 6-10 year deal or try to maximize his earning potential by signing 2 four year contracts.
But, due to NHL GMs the process looks like this: Player B is drafted and signs and entry level deal. in year one major injuries force Player B into the line up late into his rookie season. this costs the team 1 year of his entry level deal. year 2 starts off great but ends poorly due to an injury. year 3 is just okay as Player B is neither bad nor great.... then in the playoffs Player B has a great couple of months which then leads to: Player B's team / GM decides to ignore the whole bridge deal notion and falls in love with potential. if hes 21 years old now and had 8 goals and 10 assists in 22 playoff games... that means that next year when hes heavier he should have 40+ goals in the regular season and be better then Bergeron defensively! lets offer him a 10 year deal worth an average of $11.5 million per season. haha Great we locked him up! and who knows if he went to free agency we might have had to spend another 2 million dollars over a decade to secure him! well worth it. even though Player B has never performed even close to an 11-12 million dollar a year guy. which then leads to players like Tavares or Kane to demand more because they are twice the player Player B is. what im saying is, prepare for another lock out.

Bobrovsky got way overpaid I would have never paid 10 million a year they are basing salary off one year Terri le mistake on Florida's end and will never be able to trade him when he goes down hill. No one in their right mind will ever take that salary on for a goalie

the Panthers are really good but theyre the 4th best team in their division. also goalies making 10 mil per year usually kill teams. I think dallas made smarter moves today and the NYR still suck. idk how anyone could say florida is a cup contender (considering how stupid the playoff format is). that means theyd likely have to beat Boston or Toronto then beat Tampa.... all three are vastly more talented and experienced.

Aito Iguchi about what specifically?... the rangers still sucking, Florida being the 4th best team in the division (nothing wrong with that. Boston, Tampa and Toronto are 3 of the top 5 teams in the league both on paper and as favorites by Vegas to win it all). Not saying Florida sucks... they'd probably be the 2nd best team in the metro behind Washington and ahead of Pittsburgh.

Habs were sooooo frozen with 11M on the cap. It's not like they have a deep prospect pool, cap space for days and a bunch of picks for trades, either.
For the last time, it was not about the AAV, it was never about the AAV. It was about term and bonuses. 8.4 or 12.5, Canes were at the floor, AAV is matched all day. Bergevin knew that the Hurricanes weren't big fan of giving only 5 years to Aho, he knew that they wouldn't be fans of paying him upfront. He took a chance and would've only lost a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd. Bergevin *LOVES* the draft, losing two firsts is harder than you'd think for him.

Just FYI, but Pavelski's is a 35+ contract because it is his age when the contract commences (which I believe is as of September 15th), and not when the contract is signed. The Flyers screwed this up on Pronger's last contract way back in the day, so that's the "precedent" if you want to find a similar case.

There have been as many teams that allowed 4 goals on a 5 minute major as have come back being down in a series 3-0, despite there being far more opportunities to score on a 5 minute major.
