The student was delighted to see her as she treats children very well and she was asked what she was doing there. My wife replied I am a Muslim and came here to pray, but what are you doing here little one. The child said, every time my mom comes to this mall, I come to this room to sit here as I feel peace here!! Listenining to the Qur'aan recited well does give you peace. Its image however unfortunately is bad because people cherry-pick and present versus from it totally out of the context, which others dont research and propogate further. Many non-muslims who were critics and decided to prove that this book spreads evil, read it fully and tried to understand it. They were taken by surprize by what people say it says and what it actually contains and ended up converting to Islam. You can google these.

Why does recitation of the Qur'an brings such peace? It's been my only cure for my negative emotions...why is that? I don't even understand 95% of the language. It inspires thoughts, makes me cry and feel calm.
I totally understand what you mean and I feel the Quran is inexplicably comforting. The Quran says in chapter 17 (Al-Israa'), Verse Nr. 82 in the translated sense: "And We send down of the Qur'an that which is healing and mercy for the believers". Believe me, when you understand what is recited it is even more mindblowing.

And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain. An-Nisaa (النساء) / 4:155
فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِم مِّيثَاقَهُمْ وَكُفْرِهِم بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَقَتْلِهِمُ الْأَنبِيَاءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَقَوْلِهِمْ قُلُوبُنَا غُلْفٌ بَلْ طَبَعَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهَا بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
And [We cursed them] for their breaking of the covenant and their disbelief in the signs of Allah and their killing of the prophets without right and their saying, "Our hearts are wrapped". Rather, Allah has sealed them because of their disbelief, so they believe not, except for a few.
An-Nisaa (النساء) / 4:156
وَبِكُفْرِهِمْ وَقَوْلِهِمْ عَلَى مَرْيَمَ بُهْتَانًا عَظِيمًا
And [We cursed them] for their disbelief and their saying against Mary a great slander,

وَقَوْلِهِمْ إِنَّا قَتَلْنَا الْمَسِيحَ عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَكِن شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ اخْتَلَفُوا فِيهِ لَفِي شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مَا لَهُم بِهِ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِلَّا اتِّبَاعَ الظَّنِّ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ يَقِينًا
And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.
An-Nisaa (النساء) / 4:158
بَل رَّفَعَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا
Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.
An-Nisaa (النساء) / 4:159
وَإِن مِّنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ إِلَّا لَيُؤْمِنَنَّ بِهِ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا
And there is none from the People of the Scripture but that he will surely believe in Jesus before his death. And on the Day of Resurrection he will be against them a witness.
