All is equal in triathlon, so no need for separate races or race days, especially at Kona. Pushing these agendas will ultimately cripple a sport which is still wholesome. It's great to see men and woman and all the different cultures out there at the same time, this separation takes away some of the unique triathlon spirit.
It makes sense to just do 2 different days (back to back). Splitting makes it impossible for people training together, KOALAfying together, and supporting eachother.
I can see that for the pro's separate days make sense so the female pro's get dedicated coverage which is good for their sponsorships. For the amateurs though many couples do this sport. If they're both paying to travel to a location it's preferable they can both do the race. It's prohibitive for them to travel twice to two different locations so each can compete separately.
I’d like to see what it may look like as seperate days to ensure women and men have their own special spotlight day.. but done 1 week apart. From what I believe it was too high a strain on the town being 2 days apart and many struggled with accom, flights & costs. If split one week apart, it could allow women to have their week and men have theirs, and flip who goes first each year. This could allow the option to stay in Kona for just their race or be at both weekends for race/support.. I’d imagine this would lighten the load a bit on the town, accommodation and flights demand, spreading it over a couple of weeks. Paying for staff to stay an extra week and some volunteers costs would no doubt be a lot cheaper for IM than a full seperate event in another country. Just a thought!
Ironman brand is dying. They have watered down the AG slots to the WC so much so that in Chatty no woman even took the 45-49 slot. It should stay a 1 day event as it was in the past.
For consumer, women and supporter sports its better to splitt or minimum one week event apart. For the business and environment(if its not kona) its better to have one event. Was hyped for the womens world championship, before it was more like a side story.
Ironman has made things boring ... Share race day men and women doesn't matter. Makes it boring lacks that comeraderie if races are separated. Even in life men and women share this earth. Nice is not an epic place like Kona. Nice needs to be on it's own day.
Lol there is no comparison, Kona will always be a much better course and the base history of Tri, btw it was extremely hot in Nice as well so the argument that Kona is only for 1 type of athlete is ridiculous, this network has spent the last few years pushing to get the WC taken out of Kona 🤡.
Let’s be honest here, everyone who qualifies wants to ride Kona. The history is there. It just such an iconic place. Nice, not so nice.
Yeah quite a few men got their spots from roll downs I heard
@@troycollett8540for Nice you mean? Yea can imagine passing on that one.
The greediness of ironman made unsustainable to have both on same day (too many people)

Chelsea sodaro really grinds my gears!

Has to be minimum one day betwee. if its not just pros race. Problem with time (15-17+hours event, supporters)
@bababaanarama ya you're right. I agree, just keep the races relatively close
This year was a great success 😊

You guys really pushing the separate location agenda eh?
They are only asking a question

I really liked watching the women by themselves.
