  • 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona 440 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals 2022 MCACN Muscle Car Of The Week
The 2022 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals featured an unbelievable display called "Wings Over America", and it consisted of dozens of "Wing Cars", also known as 1969 Dodge Charger Daytonas and 1970 Plymouth Superbirds. These factory-built customs shared some of the same distinctive modifications made to their NASCAR racing counterparts. In fact, Dodge and Plymouth were required to build street-legal versions of their race cars in order for the race cars to be legal in NASCAR stock car racing. They called it "homologation", we call them awesome.
This amazing 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona is wearing a fantastic color combination of orange with a white interior and Daytona wing stripe. The owner claims the car is wearing most of its original sheet metal. The orange steel wheels with "dog dish" hubcaps and redline bias-ply tires look perfect on the car, and the original white interior still looks great today.
Under the extended hood you'll find a 440-4 barrel V8 backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. A Dana rear axle spins the tires.
Perhaps one of the greatest attributes of the car is how the owner drives the car as much as he can, with his wife and young kids on board. They all enjoy the ride... and who wouldn't love a bright orange and white Dodge Daytona? This video was shot at the 2022 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show in Chicago.

Back in the day I watched one of these sit on a dealer's lot unsold for two years, going by on the bus while I was in grade school.

My drill sergeant back in 1980 at Fort Benning Georgia drove a orange Plymouth super bird , those winged cars are awesome. Your Daytona is an awesome ride too.

Back in the early 80's, there was a B5 blue Superbird being daily driven in my hometown. I would cross paths with him while I was cruising my parents' F8 green '70 Satellite with a 318ci.

I was a boy when my dad took us to the legendary (or infamous) Talladega 500. I have to admit, I didn't get much out of it, sitting in the grandstand there I had no perspective on what was going on in terms of the race, and those cars were loud, and it was hot. Failing miserably to make a long story short, I was taken by those big winged wonders. They looked something like a kid my age would draw as a fast car. Getting a Daytona or a Superbird became a dream. Never to be realized, but it does make me so happy to see them saved like this!

    Goodday Kevin,
Love this guy, & love the interview.
So good to see the young ones doesn't matter guy, girl & the rest enjoying & keeping alive the Classic Muscle Car Spirit.
Love & totally understand & had a good laugh as to why you don't venture more than 100 miles from home.
It is the other drivers admiring your muscle car not paying attention to their driving.
Happened a few times to me people getting too close for comfort.
    Great interview thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Creamsicle I love the unique. The Dog Dish caps...(bolt on bolt off) can't go wrong. The "Buddy Seat" has to be a very low production option, perfect for her to scooch over. "it's not us it's everyone else around us".... Nailed it. Enjoy your flight.

Gotta be pretty awkward, if you're the "buddy" in the buddy seat. I mean, having the driver reaching for the stick shift between your legs? No thanks. 😂 (Unless the driver's a hot chick)
