Good old O’Hare airport. Used to live 15 minutes away. Too bad you didn’t fly United and experience the underground walkway. Miss getting Garrett’s popcorn. The best in Chicago!

Knott’s Scary Farm is fun. I know you visited it before, but you need to see it at Halloween.

Or even just go to Knotts on the daytime. The food is GREAT! You have to try their famous fried chicken Knotts started as a restaurant selling this chicken, and it was SO good, people would stand in line for Hours to get into the restaurant, so they started building the attractions for people to enjoy while they were waiting to get into the restaurant. You don't even have to pay admission to eat there. The restaurant is just outside of the park - like Disney springs
Before you pay over $100 for Uber, you can take the train from Anaheim to Universal Studios. Maybe explore Downtown too when transferring trains at Union Station. There’s more to see in SoCal than just Disney. Don’t forget Porto’s.

Or just rent a car which is what I do and it’s not $100 I was born and raised in Simi Valley that moved in Sacramento so if I don’t drive down there and staying in Garden Grove, I’ll take an Uber and it’s about 40 bucks maybe less but not 100$I just say Rent-A-Car

If you are up for something besides Disney and have access to a car rental you should check out San Diego. There is so much to do there. You can go see sea lions in their natural habitat and explore an aircraft carrier. Not to mention Balboa Park and the view from Mt Soledad. I think you would love it. Even Old Town is fun to explore.

Hey Kyle, for Grayson. Tell him to try his cymbal strikes, during non- fills, with his 2/4 beat hand, left for a right handed drummer. Keeping 1/3 and 2/4 together makes complicated pieces easier to play.
The John Wayne Airport is located in Santa Ana, not Anaheim. You might want to think about using a shuttle bus from the hotel to the resort. And the City of Anaheim has to consider its residents before giving in to Disney's requests.

I love flying through O'Hare. It's my favorite layover airport. I visit the diner when I fly through.
Kyle, I'll be attending the first Oogie Boogie Bash on 9/5. This is my very first time to Disneyland and it's my retirement trip. Staying at the Grand Californian. Spendy, but you only retire once so I'm treating myself. I'm also flying into John Wayne so this video helped a lot. Maybe I'll see you guys at Oogie Boogie. Weather is looking great out there!
We were just in Chicago, for my sons bootcamp graduation. We drove of to Wisconsin to eat at Texas road house.
I love John Wayne Airport. I only fly into this airport during my trips to Disneyland.

I flew into the same airport and stayed at the HOJO this past December. Your room is one floor above where we stayed. Love the HOJO and always stay there. Pro tip when walked to Disney cross the road by the hotel and walk on the other side of the road as it is faster and less populated. Can’t wait to see your day at Universal as it is quite different than Orlando’s version.
So, you're obviously not checking or answering any of the comments regarding your flight, but I'm leaving Chicago this Friday morning and have pretty much the same travel itinerary, and my destination is the same place. Go to Eidle Weiss snacks by the Matterhorn and get the cheesy pretzel twist. Another cute "hidden gem" thing we found is that the horses have started doing meet and greets on Main Street USA. If you need to get out of the sun, trying to get into Carthay Circle Lounge is a must-do. Go to Oga's Cantina, they have a drink called the Tacodona Quencher which isn't at Disney World and we have some snacks there as well that are unique to Disneyland.
Never been to Disneyland and first time seeing this hotel.

Six flags magic mountain! If you want something to do besides a park, check out a hollywood tour. I forget the name but the tour i did took us past famous filming locations, celeb houses etc

Huntington Beach is a cool place to visit. There's a Restaurant on pier called dukes that has good food. Kind of a cool place to look around check out the surfers, not a crazy amount of stuff to do but it's only 13 miles away. Or there's the packing house which is just up the street from you that has a bunch of places to eat in there and kind of cool to look around. Knott's Berry Farm has the recreation of independence hall there for free, and Portos (cheese rolls!)restaurant is like a block away that's gonna be coming to Disneyland. Go sit inside trader sams and have a drink. If a fan or worker can get you in the pool at the grand, its is so relaxing. Lamplight lounge brunch is great on weekends. Not a bad wait if you get there early. Also Angels game on the 5th I think. Wish I could run into you and the family. Watch you every day.
For a late night dinner, you and Casey should check out Pizza Press!! It’s just down the street from HOJO and they do have some craft beer to choose from too! We used to go there all the time after our shifts at Disneyland so you may be seeing a number of CMs there 😂

John Wayne airport is my favorite airport. I love the feel of it-like an old airplane hanger-but nicer 😂 and it’s close to Disneyland-can’t get better than that! I love the Howard Johnson too! We stayed there in April for our Honeymoon and we are headed back there in October-I can’t wait 😊
I remember my family parking out in front of Disneyland (where California Adventure is now) when I was growing up 👍 My mom would have us walk back to the car to make sandwich’s for lunch-to save money 😂

Hey Kyle, Davy Crocket Explorer Canoes. It's a Walt attraction. A third of Disneyland developed acreage on opening day was Walts river. The best way to see Walts dusty orange grove is from a canoe. The current in the water is created by the pipes under the surface that returns water from back stage cooling towers that refrigerate the water. On opening day it had a clay lined bottom to keep the water from soaking into the sandy soil of Anaheim. Today it has a concrete bottom like a swimming pool. A simulated river ain't for babies, Walt did it. Take a look for yourself.

Everything looks so different, I haven't been to Disneyland since 1984. I also went to Knotts Berry Farm and that was more fun than Disneyland. But that was back then. Hope you have a great time Kyle.
My husband prefers to go to Chicago o’Hare to fly out rather than going to a Milwaukee’s airport.(we live in Brookfield Wisconsin for 15 minutes from Milwaukee) He said you don’t have to have two or three stops to get your destinations. If one of those stops are delayed from a flight means you might have to stay at the airport until the next days flight.😢
If you think driving in Chicago is crazy, you should go down to the Gold Coast South Florida West Palm Beach, downtown Miami that’s crazy!
Don’t go around Thanksgiving or Christmas or a few days before each. It is sheer chaos all the times of the day and that’s just driving into the airport to either drop somebody off or pick somebody up. That’s when you call a cab or a Lyft or an Uber.

What!!??? You were here at O'hare and i missed you....I work at O'hare and was at work too but at terimal 5 which another part of O'hare as well man would of loved to take a photo maybe next time ....
Be careful what ya wish for with chilling in an airport. Happened to me being stuck in Logan in Boston. Whew. Anyway, my aunt worked for Many many years at United. Every flight we took went through O'Hare. I grew to hate it. And still avoid it at all costs lol

The 2 structures that you flew over on your descent into John Wayne were the Blimp Hangers at Tustin. They are the largest wooden free-standing structures in the world. They were originally built to house the Zeppelin class airships. They are on a decommissioned Marine base.
They r huge! It was so cool
Takeoff from John Wayne in Orange County will be an experience because of the noise restrictions. 😁😁🛫

We stayed at Howard Johnson's Aug 21-25 because you raved about it - it did not disappoint! We were in a renovated king room in building 2 (first floor) and loved it. Staff was really friendly and very helpful. The most comfortable hotel bed ever. We did 3 day hoppers with Genie + and Disneyland was amazing. Unfortunately, we missed Oogie Boogie but San Fran Sokyo was open. It's nice but really just food. Pixar Place, Guardians, Webslingers... all so cool. Overall, the food options in DL/DCA were better than WDW. World of Color should be in Epcot - it's stunning. Thanks so much for sharing HoJo with us. We can't wait to go back next year for Halloween. Have a great trip!
