The part where Baraka and Reptile start running together is pretty badass. Love that the two former mk Jobbers are now kinda bros and are much stronger
I like this portrayal of Baraka. Now he fights more with a cause and looks very formidable. This is as far as I’ve gotten so far so hopefully he doesn’t get jobbed out
@@rosesweetcharlotteHe and Reptile have been punching bags for the entire Franchise. So it’s so satisfying to see them just as important as every other character in the games.
Baraka being a hero was never something I thought would happen but how they did it was just so amazing making him a soldier turned merchant and father is just so good giving someone so two dimensional a backstory is genuinely good story telling
I honestly was on the fence at first of Tarkatans being the result of a sickness, but I now understand it adds a layer of sympathy to characters like Baraka and Mileena, how they were once Edenian before becoming something else…
They still are Edenian, they're just sick. Which is honestly the tragedy. Neither of them asked for this and yet they're treated like they did something wrong
@@rosesweetcharlotte Exactly, which is why I’m happy they decided to have them be more on the side of good. Though that also goes for Reptile as well who is different but I love how they implement his original look instead of a hybrid look like they did before.
Tarkatans as a species/race unto themselves may still happen. Shang Tsung was already able to produce those clones that were also described as “hybrids.” If a cure were to be created, there’s no indication that the physical signs of the disease would just disappear nigh-instantly once a cure was administered to the afflicted. Mileena only got to have that happen because she’s in the early stages of catching it and already had the benefit of being given a serum that treats the disease. And even then, it’s implied that the physical signs of it are permanent for her by the main story’s end. We also don’t really know if Tarkat renders its victims sterile, if their offspring are whatever race/species their parents were, or if they’re born as Tarkatans themselves.
@@rosesweetcharlotte Not just Edenian. According to Baraka’s pre-match intro with Syzoth/Reptile, just about every sapient race/species in Outworld can catch Tarkat. The latter is surprised that Zaterrans who have the disease also dwell in The Colony with their Edenian counterparts. Which also presents an opportunity to see how utterly terrifying Shokan, Kytinn, Naknada, and possibly even Vaeternian Tarkatans would be. Along with whatever race/species Shao is supposed to be.
This might sound crazy but MK’s Baraka and Crash Bandicoot’s Dingodile kinda have a similar redemption arc. In the prime timeline, they were both small-time goons but when each franchise got rebooted, both mutant characters became businessmen trying to live a normal life but got dragged into crazy situations.
From everything we've seen of Liu Kang's era Baraka, both he and Reptile will be good guys moving forward if the series continues to take place in Liu Kang's timeline.
Baraka and Reptile, 2 former jobbers being in the main cast of heroes and getting their own chapter is something I never expect. Too bad Reiko and Nitara took their place.
I hated Baraka in the past games but this one makes me more appreciative and happy to enjoy him as a character. I loved killing the ones in past games. But this one feels wrong due to learning about his story.
I love how fighting game fans use wrestling terms like "jobber". As someone whos a wrestling fan and getting into mk does this make people who buy into the story "marks" 😂
I like Kung Lao’s outfit in the story mode while their in our world in Kenshi, Baraka, Ashrah and Reptile’s chapters I wonder if will become an available skin to use
I honestly had a feeling he'd be treated good but to hear his fall from grace due to Tarkat? I got more sympathy for Baraka. Dude earned his stripes since MK 2 and even up to now, i can't help but like him. only time i didnt was during Deception but even then I saw him as more than just a simp foot soldier

Yeah. In Baraka’s Tower Ending, Syzoth (I like his real name better) introduces him to Mileena after Baraka asked for help about his people.
They actually did Baraka and Reptile justice in this installment
Thanks to Lord Liu Kang

And man do I feel sorry for him. He was a family man, had a good life, now forced to live as a leper.
Good news, he doesn’t!

The fact the Shang Tsuang said he'd kill reptile's family if he doesn't obey him and he killed them anyway just shows how evil this guy is.
