Great idea with FRP we run trim threw table saw we will try it your way next . Adding the plywood next to windows is a good idea I think Ill try 3/4 ply or 1x4 next time. We do the same thing with our tape measures for metal roofing. Some times Ill use different colors for different layouts. The alcohol based hand cleaner takes the marks off my tape instantly. Keep up the great work.
Cool tips, maybe do a timelapse of installing a full siding job on one side of a house and go over a few more tips as you go along with the timelapse. awesome channel
THX 4 siding vid....well done. Saw you snapping layout for side walls. Don't know if you walk back and forth but if you connect the clips on 2 speed lines 2 guys can stay on layout just reel back and forth whether you are on the ground or on pumps and plank. Not big on story poles day to day(where's the story pole😊) your tape is always with you. Last bit here where I am layout lines are on the house wrap....saw you sheet on deck and a little foresight puts you spot on or at the least very close ie hunting for studs. Like you said stacking your floors/gables is key. Keep the vids coming THX.
I have sometimes had inconsistent width on siding boards, making the the bottom edge out of line. I use a story board and mark the bottom rather than the top of the boards, making a mark on the trim boards that I install first.
greetings from Chile, southamerica I am an engineer construction student I would really like to work for free with you guys so much things to learn on the field! keep on the videos nice and sweet !
No...find somebody around you. There's no "magic" to construction. Its been done very-well world-wide for centuries. Hammurabi even wrote the first, & in my opinion, the BEST Buildng Code! If you want to learn excellent construction, learn Manderin Chinese, no joke. If you want to travel the world building, join a BIG Company, & NEVER "work for free"!! Only for your Mamma, do that :-) Says the 68-yr young North Italiano Designer/Builder. I build my structures like somebody's Mamma's going to in it during a Hurricane! Why I prefer WOOD-frame elevated residences, after being in 12 FL/Carib hurricanes. Buona Fortuna!
That’s a good idea… We have done that too! have found the shimming to be just a bit faster and less dust :-) also on the kind of trim we are using your supposed to repaint any cut edges so that takes extra time.
My mom made a comment about ants getting in the house, got us to thinking about putting a piece of aluminum bent at 90' on the bottom, installed before we even put house wrap on. Believe it or not ants can get in right there. Now on every single job we install it :) Food for thought!!!!
Heres my tip. If you plan on caulking where the siding & corner trim meet...create a narrow enough gap (16th" +) so the caulking can get a good bite. A scrap piece of that FRP might be the perfect width. When caulking starts to peel it really peels. Another thing I did was create a spacing tool that sets the reveal exactly where it belongs by hooking the previous course and supporting the one being Fastened.
Plastic or Cement board will not shrink as you think, but are expandable Abit. Plastic tends to be fragile and brittle as it's exposed to the sun. Concrete will absorb some moisture, which it tends to breathe, cracks can occur.
In Japan they also use FRP to water proof balcony's, bathrooms and such. In that case it's called Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic, so when I looked at this video that's what popped into my mind. I'm going to use that when I rebuild my house; the reason why I watch these videos other than the great Perkins Brothers and their team. Great work Guys!! =)
I also notice you don't cap fasten your Tyvek. They recommend this in their installation instructions. You need a tool, let me know, I'll send you one. When you use staples alone, you are poking holes in an engineered perm rated barrier.
One more.... sorry. Saw you guys are driving a 'sinker' to hook chalk line/tape to. Get a scratch all preferably with a thin shaft think ice pick. You can hand tap it in or use your hammer. To release just pull it out, back in your rig as quick as your speed square. No more pulling nails or looking in your rig for the fastener. If you start using it you'll be surprised how much this 3rd hand works especially if you do lot of solo work.
Man, I don't know what subdivision YOU guys are "building" houses in, but I guarantee you that it's a lot higher dollar subdivision than the ones around here... Good series you guys have, but seriously, with all the "extra" crap you people have to do, your labor costs must be through the roof! No pun intended.
I hope you did not use staple them style house with the defeats the purpose of installing housewrap next time try using gecko gage you don’t have to mark your tape measure and how do you know your plywood Level
True.. we could make a story pole instead, but then you have to carry that around. I know that the plywood is level because I built the foundation and installed the sheeting myself.

5.44 who turned up at work drunk and parked the car up the bank! Great tips! Will implement some when I do my siding.
Haha! That’s what happened when we told Ray to move his Jeep out of the way.
@@PerkinsBuilderBrothers I thought somebody must have moved it for him! Another great video, thanks!
Good idea on marking the tape I make a story board to layout the house plus I use a transit to layout the first measurement

This is really great advice! But what do you do to hide nailheads since you pre- paint spray your boards before installing them?
I run my trim boards across a Kreg portable router table and cut a channel for the window flange.
That’s a good idea… We have done that too! have found the shimming to be just a bit faster and less dust :-) also on the kind of trim we are using your supposed to repaint any cut edges so that takes extra time.
You need to check out the Paslode Hardie Board nail. You don't need to hit the stud- just hit the OSB. Talk about time and material savings.
You guys do great work, so that junk house wrap doesn’t seem to fit. Why not up your standard to zip sheathing on the whole house?
Thanks... just a cost thing. It’s always an option for the client, but does add some $$. I do like the zip system better overall though.

Thanks for all the great videos and all the awesome tips
You brothers are good
You guys did it again. Excellent video. TX
This video is a filled with sooo many tips like a cookie filled with chocolate chips
Good video I only mark my first board and then I cut a few jigs from scrap 1x2 for all my lap reveals , "stupid stick" makes it easy
What about a quick coat on the back of the LP? Seems like it might be worth the investment for a little insurance.
I was told F.R.P. Stands for fiberglass reinforced paneling. Installed in industrial kitchens & bathrooms.
Love the videos!💪🏽😎
Can you nail Hardie board to cement block?
FRP "Fire resistant panel" Used in most restaraunts for food code prep areas. waterproof and cleans easily for wipe downs.
FRP stands for fiberglass reinforced plastic
Not all FRP is fire retardant
Great video, Thank you for the tips !
Very good tips , thank you
Baby simple for you guys, greatly appreciated by me at home !
Just make a story pole so you don’t have to mark up your tape
Exactly
This may cause a reactionary effect of buying another tool 🤣😂🤩😜🙃
Yeppers ..make a simple flexible rip that you can set atop the starter .. Laid out .. So much easier without screwing up a tape
And then use that story pole to adjust the layout to minimize small pieces.
Great vid guys
Heres my tip.

Great tip! Yes a small gap for the caulk to actually “bite” into makes a big difference. Thanks
Do you need an air gap between siding and tyvek? or not necessary?
Not required here
FRP is short for fiber reinforced [plastic Q>E>D> ! (QUITE EASIY DONE ) LOL.
Wow! You guys packed a lot of great tips in a small amount of time. Great video! Thanks for all the great content.
FRP fiberglass reinforced panel
Is these product will shrink and expand like others?
Plastic or Cement board will not shrink as you think, but are expandable Abit.
Plastic tends to be fragile and brittle as it's exposed to the sun. Concrete will absorb some moisture, which it tends to breathe, cracks can occur.
Nailed it 😎

FRP stands for fiberglass reinforced panel
Fiber Reinforced Plastic, you see it all the in commercial applications
Thank you!! We thought someone might know
Mostly in bathrooms as wainscoting for moisture protection.
Nice parking!
Haha.. Ray showing off his Jeep capabilities. And making room for a bunch of boards in the parking lot
Great tip
Fiberglass reinforced panel
WOODROW McLin - Fibe reinforced plastic??
Sorry just read through other comments and now I look like a dick
Longer vids. Be kind to one another. Stay safe. Love to all
cool video
The music gets me every time. SOMEONE HOLD ME!!
They sell a spacing tool called geckos at Lowe's and they work perfect. They are adjustable for different reveals
Do you know what stud finder is used on the video? Thanks
I’ll put a link in the description for you
Fiber reinforced panelling
FRP stands for Fiber Re-enforced Plastic.
1st CLASS !
Why are you not nailing forenz on your wall to install the siding on ?
Nailed It
FRP is fiberglass reinforced panel. I cheat with my house wrap I put the wrap with lay out marks on the studs

why do carpenters mark measurements with a triangle looking design? what's the reasoning behind that???
Those *are* real saw horses! Rated to about two tons each, by the look of them!

good job
Frp=fire resistant panel
frp = fiber reinforced plastic. great vid. if you ever desecrate a stabila level like that again, your ass is fired.

Paul Stuart Wilson
They build custom homes in the mountains of North Carolina I believe.
Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic/Panel = FRP
3:31 technically, stapled it...
Yes.. technically you are right :-)

Offroad Jeep on site eh
Ha ha… Jaime took his truck up that bank the very next day all the way to the top. Got it on video too
Cutting frp (indoors) stinks. Its "fiberglass reenforced panel"
FRP = Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic
Dude’s voice sounds exactly like the Appalachian hick from 30 Rock, whose name escapes me.
So where's the quick part?
Doing all of these things makes the process of installing and finishing the siding much faster... and better.
Are you seriously using a wood based siding
