Pro tip: Cook so you can dump the pasta into the sauce. Not the sauce into the pasta. No sauce waste and only 1 dirty dish. 👍😌

how about trimming some length off Monty's underparts for winter. I do that for one of my dogs and our Maine Coon cat. There is plenty of undercoat left to keep them warm but without the length on the belly , no snowballs. I also trim the leg feathers. They don't look like show pets, but they live on the farm and like your dogs, they enjoy being out with us in all the weather.

I loved the snow/wind combination of this video. You built a nice little set up, and you both looked comfortable besides the cold temps. Although, like you, I like it a bit colder than 32, myself.

my fave bits are always when baby monty is getting tucked in for bed
Tip: Bring some latex gloves (or any kind of medical gloves) when handling the chicken. They'll keep your hands clean and they can double as a little trash bag when you take them off. Just grab all your trash with one hand and peel the glove off with the other hand.
Also; if you don't want clumpy noodles, add a teaspoon of olive (or any kind) of oil into the water when you put the noodles in. If you don't want to haul in oil (which is understandable), butter works in a pinch. Just put a little as soon as the water starts boiling and no clumpy noodles.
You are a great entertainer, and Monty is a great dog! I absolutely love your videos with Monty and Rueger, but Monty is King! That pasta meal really looked good! I might have to try that one. Thanks for this video!
If you buy a box of latex gloves like the doctors use or non latex if your allergic, you can take some in your pack for when you have to cook chicken. Then you can pitch the gloves and your hands are clean! I use them at home when I cook chicken!
An easy garlic tip...cut each hard end off, the tip and butt, then rub vigorously between palms for just a few seconds and the peel comes off leaving just the whole intact clove, ready for slicing. Learned this tip from the head chef at the Biltmore Estate in NC
your videos bring back memories...….piling up snow and hollowing it into little igloos. we'd make hot dogs and pop popcorn...…..I guess I've been a bushcrafter for a long long time, we just didn't call it that.

Dish looks fantastic! Please do this dish again in the near future the exact same way but adding a little basil, thyme, and oregano and also diced pancetta about 6-8 oz. while searing mushrooms!
I felt so sorry for Monty trudging through the thick snow. Maybe you could put some plastic or tarp around him with two holes on each side, then put a rope through the holes and tie it at the top..put super around the holes so the tarp doesn’t rip. Just a suggestion don’t know if it would work, but worth a try for our precious Monty..Matthew I love your sense of humor and whimsical way..also have learned excellent survival skills..keep those video coming.i feel like I’m right there with you.
Another amazing video from Matthew and Monty! I always try to draw these out over as many days as I can to lengthen the enjoyment! Poor Frank... I've never heard of a self-decapitating snowman. He must be distantly related to Freaky the Snowman (worth a watch if you've never heard of him.) "Come on Frank, be reasonable." I lost it at that part... laughed so hard I was wheezing. By the way, if you and Funk want to take on another project, you really should consider writing a campfire cookbook. I still haven't found a recipe for Chicken Riggies that looks as good as the one you whipped up, and Chicken Paprikash is next on my list of things to try. This one looked pretty good as well!

Never too much Butter ! I use it in enormous amounts ! But I excercise and eat right ! I have lost 83 lbs since last July ! Even though I eat high fat my Cholesterol is better than ever ! And no more diabetes !!

Matthew, you may want to bring a little container of alcohol rather than the hand sanitizer (per my brother - a micro biologist at the NIH in DC). The hand sanitizer has multiple chemicals, which are not healthy for you, which is why the FDA has mandated that the specific chemical in hand sanitizer is no longer allowed in body wash and other products, etc. after 2019. Basic soap is the best. This is better for your health, and that of Funk, Monty & Reugs.
For safety measures after handshaking, etc, and food and food prep, & cleaning plates & utensils after cooking or use when camping, rubbing alcohol (70%\99%) evaporates and kills any bacteria & bad stuff you might encounter - no residual chemicals. Just a suggestion.

@@KURDYPEIN One of the best ways to use the alcohol is to add it to a "carrier," such as Aloe Vera gel - just a suggestion - use a ½ cup Aloe vera gel, ¼ cup alcohol and a few drops of your favorite essential oil to scent. if you prefer. The mixture works best in a spritz bottle; spray on hands and rub together.
I've definitely put my hands in my mouth after using hand sanitizer and it sure tastes nasty! Hahaha!

My first comment on any of your videos - of which I have binge watched in random order over the last few weeks (thanks to a spot on YT recommendation!) This one being nearly a year old means nothing, it is glorious. Frank the Snowman got me. And that was after me begging for a SMASHroom as you were slicing. YESSSS. I had a $#@! day at work but you and Monty made all things better. How you make camping in the snow look so fantastic. I lived in MI for a couple years and if memory serves - snow is cold! You never complain, rarely curse and find humor at times when others would be throwing equipment and kicking trees. You are like Mr. Rogers and Kermit the Frog all bundled up in one happy package. Keep adventuring Matt and Monty...you have inspired my inner adventurer to push some new boundaries. Happiest of Holidays to you, Funk and all your puppers!

Nice to see some snow, but I have to admit I'm eagerly anticipating your upcoming Lake Superior paddle outing. I paddled around the Apostle Islands 20 years ago and it was just awesome, though that was late summer. My hit list includes Isle Royal... I need to start checking things off that list.

I was definitely interesting! I didnt record a whole ton to be honest, it was a silly adventure with my buddy. Isle Royale is definitely fun! It is getting more popular each year. I would recommend going the last couple of weeks the ferries are open. Fishing is good and moose are moving around. Or early spring. Hahaha!

monty is such a good boy ,the other day I found my dogs boomerang I throw it in my yard he love it ,but not when its hot so after 2 goes he come to my garden and hid it under a tree ,than come to me ,I said I know where u hid itt so go around there and bring it to me he went and got it and hid it more ,it remined me of rugs with your sticks ,our weather is so hot 40 today that's 113 in the old times
